Bury St Edmunds, EnglandWonderful and relaxing stay in Ivy Cottage, Rioux-Martin
Left on 09/01/2011 for a stay in August 2011
We had a great holiday staying at Ivy House. The accommodation was lovely and well equipped, although because we ate outside nearly all of the time we could have used a larger kitchen tray to carry out all that French food and wine! The bedroom had some beautiful wooden furniture and a fabulous view over the gardens to the church. Derek and Jane were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. They put a lot of effort into making sure we enjoyed our stay without being intrusive. The garden was really peaceful and we enjoyed having several different places to sit to catch the sun. We saw a kingfisher, woodpeckers, an owl (which seemed to hoot ant anytime of the day) and many other birds. It was a great treat to have the hot tub to relax in after taking out the bikes. We rented the Fiat Spider for two days and took it across to the coast at Royan. It was a real experience to drive a classic car and we felt like celebrities with all the people in Royan looking at us. The Spider was misfiring the second day we intended to use it, but Derek kindly lent us their own car for the day. Rioux-Martin is a great location. Driving and cycling is so relaxing as there is very little traffic. There are many lovely towns and villages in the area to visit. The people are all friendly and the scenery is wonderful. This was our first holiday in rural France, but now we can see why so many people are hooked on it. Definitely recommended. Thank you Jane and Derek

We stayed in this lovely house for a week in July. The setting was beautiful, tranquil and pretty. The house was perfect, well appointed and luxurious. I loved the slipper bath in the bedroom! Our hosts Derek and Jane could not have been more helpful, and their dog Pluto was very polite!!
We would love to go back and would not hesitate in recommending their lovely place. -

Left on 08/04/2011 for a stay in July 2011
We have had the most relaxing week in a superb gite. It was exactly what we were looking for... peaceful, idyllic and with attention to every detail we felt totally spoilt. Derek & Jane have managed to create a mini haven and offer total luxury with the added benefit of lovely places to visit on the door step. We will definitely be back and look forward to driving the Fiat Spider again and borrowing Pluto for a walk round the lake!

A very warm welcome at all times, service second to none. If you are looking to get away and relax - this is the place. Numerous interesting places to visit with great advice from Derek and Jane. A pre-printed sheet with things going on around the area during your stay was part of the info pack, very handy.Hire one of their special classic cars to open up your holiday and enjoy the almost traffic free roads. Derek and Jane will work hard to ensure your stay is enjoyable & trouble free.

This was our first solo touring holiday in France and Derek & Jane helped greatly with the planning using their local knowledge.
The accommodation and service provided was first class and we shall be staying again when in that part of France.
Even the car was treated as a special guest! -

A fantastic week in superb Gite with excellent hosts. The linked use of a 1971 Mercedes 380SL open tourer with host guidance of local tours, restaurants, vineyards made it all the more enjoyable.
So good going back this September!

From the moment we arrive we where greeted by Derek and Jane and felt like we had known them forever, throughout our stay we could not have had better hosts nothing was never to much trouble they even let us use there own computer to keep in touch with friends at home,we used both Gites and we where very impressed by the quality ,cleanliness and make up of the Gites, anyone staying will not be disappointed,I doubt if you could find better
You have the use of all the gardens with plenty areas to chill out or you can use the hot tubs ,one to each Gite,we had use of the Fiat Spider a classic sports car, which we enjoyed as we went to various towns and villages in France,If you do stay here its a must to use one of the classic cars,we also used the mountain bikes to ride round the beautiful countryside,We cannot say in a few words what a wonderful stay we had and certainly will go back in the future to stay and meet Derek and Jane again Stay here and you will defiantly not be disappointed -
