Description from the owner
Any season is ideal at this elegant country home. Christened “Rosneath” in 1947, this lovely farm rests in 120 acres of meadow and woodland within 30 miles of Wintergreen Ski Resort, 18 minutes from UVA and Monticello, 20 minutes from the foot of the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive and a few miles from the historic, enchanting village of Batesville. It’s minutes from the Pippin Hill winery and within a half hour to the Trump Vineyards. With all that nearby, guests often still say they prefer to remain on the property. Additional Location Information
Everything you need for a comfortable stay, with modern amenities in an otherwise classic country home. Steeped in Jefferson-era history, the property is located on a beautiful winding country road and is situated on a post-card like piece of land - rolling hills and old oak forests. The simple beauty of the surrounding area invites pure contemplation; but if you like running, biking, or hiking, you can do all of them easily from the house. The property is great for kids to play, explore, and experience country living. The decks and views are great for reading, relaxing, and conversing. The location seems isolated but is actually an easy drive to Charlottesville, Crozet, and is five minutes from a very good restaurant (Dr. Ho's Humble Pie) and a market where you can pick up necessities.
Spectacular wine tasting and wedding venues are within minutes of Rosneath. Local grapes swept the competition at the 2012 Governor’s Cup Award in Richmond, All but one of the top scoring wines selected for inclusion in the 2012 Virginia Governor’s Case were produced from grapes grown in the Monticello AVA (American Viticultural Area).
The University of Virginia and Monticello, both UNESCO Cultural Heritage Sites, beckon both the serious academic and the interested tourist. Alumni, faculty and their families have enjoyed viewing the bustle of University life from the vantage of this elegant country retreat.

CharlotteThe Perfect Vacation Getaway!
Left on 02/05/2013 for a stay in September 2012
Set in one of the most stunning parts of our country, the beautifully decorated and charming Rosneath estate is a vacation dream come true. Tucked away in Virginia's historic Charlottesville wine country, it is perfect for lazy mornings, leisurely walks through the countryside but also allows easy sightseeing, vineyard tours, and a gastro tour of Charlottesville's many hip restaurants and bars. Guests can relax and easily forget the crazy pace of the city but have activities for every taste nearby (adventure, shopping or culture). Our group included guests from Washington DC, Charlotte, Richmond and New Orleans and not one of us wanted to leave!

Damascus, MDWonderful and relaxing stay!
Left on 01/17/2013 for a stay in September 2012
Dear Randy, Ross, Misty and Dan, We all (my parents, myself and husband and 2 young children) had a wonderful time staying in your beautiful home! We had a very relaxing week, providing a great chance for the children to spend time with their grandparents and for their tired parents to have a much needed rest. Rosneath really afforded that luxury, we were so comfortable and relaxed from the minute we arrived. There was absolutely nothing missing in terms of comfort, Rosneath, is by far the most comfortable holiday rental we have stayed in (5 others). My 3 year old keeps asking 'when are we going back to the new house' :-) and was very taken with Bud! The pack and play and high chair were also invaluable for our 1 year old, we really appreciate you providing these for us and saving us the worry of transporting our own.
Although this property is in a rural location and there really is no need to leave, it is in a great location for exploring Charlottesville and spending time at the presidential homes and nearby wineries (there's one right up the road). Nearby Crozet is also great for supermarkets and family friendly restaurants, and the pizza from Dr Ho's Humble pie at the end of the road is well worth making a trip to for lunch or dinner.
We really did enjoy our stay and thank you all again for allowing us to share your home! We hope to return! -

TennesseeRosneath Thanksgiving
Left on 01/17/2013 for a stay in November 2012
Rosneath Farm...the perfect setting for Giving Thanks with family! Our family enjoyed the warmth of Rosneath's history and antiques combined with the modern comforts of a beautifully appointed kitchen and well-maintained "lovingly cared-for" home. There was plenty of room to prepare and serve Thanksgiving dinner. Removed from the bustle of Charlottesville, but close enough for those who need activity, we enjoyed Monticello and the area wineries, walking the farm (with Bud the yellow lab in the lead,) sunset on the porch and watching Vanderbilt beat Tennessee by the fireplace in the family room. Although cell service is non-existent at the house, the land line is available along with WiFi and you can buzz down the road to the crossroads if you want to use your cell. We conducted business with just a few minor adjustments. The Owners are easy to communicate with and, onsite, go out of their way to be accommodating but unobtrusive. We appreciated their gracious hospitality!

New York, NYBeautiful House
Left on 01/17/2013 for a stay in August 2012
I wish we could have stayed more but were staying in this perfect, clean and beautiful house for only 3 days. The house is very clean and well-maintained and I would say the description and pictures will not justify how beautiful the house is. Everything you might need was in the house (linens, towels, iron, hairdryer..) kitchen is modern and renovated, has all the utensils. The owners provided great tips and suggestions about the surrounding area though we were helping our son to move in UVa and didn't have much time to visit. It was very peaceful and wonderful stay, we will be coming back.

Annandale, VAGreat House!
Left on 01/17/2013 for a stay in November 2012
My husband and I had a wedding to attend at Pippin Hill Winery over the weekend - so we brought my parents along to babysit my 5 month old baby. We had a lovely weekend! The house was the perfect space for us. Having the baby sleep in the little office/den next to the master bedroom worked out wondefully - it's tucked away and quiet. The house is well stocked and is super close to Pippin Hill. On Saturday, we took a lovely walk around the property - led by the resident dog! He was a wonderful tour guide taking us around the field and showing us the trails in the woods. Since the house is in the country, cell reception isn't very good but that wasn't a problem since there's a land line and wireless internet in the house. I only wish the weather was warmer so we could sit outside and enjoy the yard.

It is very difficult to describe to anyone just how beautiful this home is! The pictures do need to be updated because it is much better in person then seeing via online. First: the owners...could not have been any nicer nor easier to work/communicate with. Customer satisfaction a++. Second: there are more supplies then I would even imagine (iron, laundry soap, lots of towels and sheets, trash bags, cleaning supplies, light bulbs, batteries, dish soap, toilet paper...just to name a few). Our visit was for our daughter's wedding and we hosted a Sunday Brunch...Plenty of room inside and out. This home is very much a 5 star and I am very much looking forward to returning! Thank you Randy, Ross and Misty for a wonderful stay!!!

Our family of five was the first family to stay at this residence since it became a rental property following its recent renovations. The owners have done a great job of providing everything you need for a comfortable stay, with modern amenities in an otherwise classic country home. The property is located on a beautiful winding country road and is situated on a post-card like piece of land charaterized by rolling hills and old trees. If you like running, biking, or hiking, you can do all of them easily from the house. We loved our stay and highly recommend to anyone looking to relax, enjoy, and explore.

Norfolk, VirginiaLovingly appointed
Left on 07/12/2012 for a stay in June 2012
We just completed our stay, and had a wonderful time. This is a lovely old farmhouse, well restored--a wonderful place for a quite vacation with easy access to UVa, but also Wintergreen resort, Crozet, Monticello, the Blue Ridge Parkway, etc. The owners have lovingly appointed every room. In the restoration, they have essentially crafted a brand new kitchen, and again, they have thought long and hard about their guests (my wife was impressed that they had a flashlight in the nightstand). We couldn't have been happier.
Even though I'm from alabama, I'm not sure I have ever seen a firefly show quite like the one we got every night at Rosneath in June. It was truly magical. We entertained several guests, and everyone simply had a lovely time. There are several large yards for the kids to run around in (we played a lot of baseball), as well as through the hayfield, which Dan (the on-site owner) has cut walking paths through. The house has a very nice patio for grilling out and dining as well.
A few things to note: there are TVs and Dvds in several rooms (including bedrooms), but the Dvds are actually Blu-Ray discs (in case you are wondering when packing). The house actually sleeps 9 (not 8) if you use the single bed pull-out in the office off of the master bedroom. The laundry is excellent (can I wash my clothes there everyday?). There are no queen beds--two doubles (which isn't a big deal unless you are an enormous person and all the other beds are full :-). Overall, wonderful place. Highly recommended! -

ArlingtonVery Nice and Spacious Home
Left on 07/12/2012 for a stay in December 2011
Rosneath is a wonderful home, the kitchen is fabulous, and the beds are comfortable! Pictures are extremely accurate. We had a great stay over Christmas 2011. There are extra blankets in the blanket chests if you need them, and there is a washer and dryer also upstairs in the hall bath. We didn't really explore the grounds because we were visiting family in the area, but we had everything we needed for a nice stay and a great Christmas at Rosneath. Would not hesitate to book again!

AtlantaCharming Modern Farmhouse in Virginia wine country
Left on 07/12/2012 for a stay in May 2012
When can we come back??? Our family visited this May and it could not have been a more pleasant experience. The property is beautiful. We spent a lot of our time relaxing on the porches (there are several!) or visiting in the lawn. The kids had so much fun running around exploring, rolling down hills of lush grass, and trying to climb trees. We had 4 adults and 4 kids (all 6 and under) and there was room for everyone. The interior of the house is just as lovely as the outside. The renovations are modern yet maintain the historical integrity of the house. I wish I could live here!!! We really enjoyed getting frozen yogurt at the Crossroads store 1 mile up the road. The Jefferson Vineyard had a gorgeous meadow where the adults had a glass of wine while the kids ran around picking flowers. It was heaven.
