Leeds, United KingdomExcellent villa - good location
Left on 03/03/2013 for a stay in March 2013
A good quality villa with 3 large bedrooms, large living area, kitchen, nice pool and grounds. We enjoyed the location although you would ideally have a car - we used one Helen provided for the first 3 days. After that my wife and I walked everywhere (both mature!!). Found a local road side cafe about 100 meters over the crossroads where we eat a couple of times at 50 Batt a head. Also walking to Bophut there was a shopping mall with good food hall. We did also enjoy a couple of the upmarket restaurants in Bophut when the family were all there.

I really can't recommend this villa highly enough. The location is superb, it's literally in the middle of all the major areas of Samui, without being drowned with the sounds of nightlife, etc.
But, best of all, when your relaxing by the pool, you're not overlooked and you truly are in your own private slice of paradise to do what you like with.
Helen and Tim were excellent as always(my second visit and definitely not my last), they arranged a car and bikes for us on our arrival and made sure we was well settled in.
This villa is amazing value for just a couple of people, but as in my case with 4 adults and 2 kids it works out cheaper than staying in any hotels with the obvious exception of the real budget ones, but you don't get your own personal infinity pool in those!!!
Yet again, first class and counting the days until my next visit!! -

SkövdeVery nice house bur far away
Left on 01/10/2013 for a stay in December 2012
The house was very nice and there was a bathroom for each bedroom, which was a great advantage. Having a private pool was also very nice. We received very good service by Helen who quickly responded to questions any time of the day.
The house was, however, so far away from Chaweng and other beaches that we could not walk and had to take a taxi wherever we were going. This was not clear in the description of the house and became a negative experience. So, please complete the description of the house with the need to have access to a car, moped or taxi to get to the beaches and restaurants. -

This villa was exactly what we needed for a relaxing time in Samui. The pictures don't do any justice as it is way more spacious and luxurious than it appears. Top-notch applicanes (TV/DVD player in every room + a large TV and sound system in the main room).
It was a short and cheap cab ride to Chewang where all the action is but you could easily spend you're entire stay lounging by the beautiful pool.
Helen was great any looked after everything we needed.
Highly reccomended, thanks alot! -

The Villa:
really well equipped, its hard to find a place where three couples could stay and all get a decent bedroom and bathroom. normally at least one couple gets a pants room and this is not the case here each bed and shower room is almost identical so there was no arguing. the lounge is big and comfy and has a western sofa (which will be a big boon for anyone who has ever sat on a thai sofa (bench) for more than 5 mins), the dining table sat 6 comfortably and the kitchen had everything we needed including full western cooker, microwave, utensils and fridge freezer as well as more seating. Outside space was big and secluded despite being at the front of the property and the pool was a welcome relief from the heat. Location of the villa was also great, short walk to the main road and then bus into either chaweng or fishermans village for nights out. alternatively if you want a gentle stroll we reckon we could do chaweng on foot in under half an hour.
Service:
Cleaning was carried out regularly and was impeccable as was garden and pool maintenance. Owners also offer vehicle rental and were very flexible with us allowing us to hire for the odd days here and there rather than have to have it for the entire holiday.
Owners:
Couldnt have been more helpful, often saw them walking the dogs and were able to approach them if we had any questions or wanted advice about places to visit etc. despite missing all our connections and arriving 36 hours late and on two different planes Helen picked all of us up to make sure we were okay and even got us a bottle of wine and some beer which was seriously welcome. having their telephone number also meant that we could keep in touch with them during our troubled journey which was a comfort. Helen and Tim seem to be a genuinely friendly couple and are really approachable and they really take care of the villa. would absolutely stay here again and wouldnt hesitate to recommend the villa to anyone who asked.
Issues:
just to prove i have not been paid to give this review, we racked our brains to find any issues with the villa and the only things i can come up with are the chrome chairs on the patio are a little uncomfortable but with a towel over them they were fine or use the loungers. And there is few hours in the morning where there is no shade on the patio and it would have been nice to have an umbrella we could have put up but that was only an issue because one of our party was very fair and isnt a sun worshiper. But seriously to complain about these you would have to be a real picky person.

Baan Rattana is a lovely villa, the personal service we received both before we arrived at the villa and during our stay was excellent.
The villa was clean and well equipped
The villa is well serviced with a local store, laundry service and massage parlour approximately 5 minutes walk away. It is essential you have transport, which can easily be rented from the managers of the villa.
Koh Samui is a beautiful island. Tghe affordable price of this villa means you can enjoy the island without paying a fortune for great accommodation

We had a wonderful time in Baan Rattana. A really lovely villa with everything we needed and a great private pool to cool off in. Helen looked after all our needs and had plenty of good advise as to where to go and what to visit. Seeing a buffalo pass the end of our garden was really exciting. So much to see and do in the area we shall have to come back again. loved our holiday. and will stay with you again. thanks Joan and Lillian Lambert.
