BangkokHeavenly Stay in Karma Samui
Left on 01/28/2013 for a stay in October 2012
I recently had the privilege to stay in the most beautiful villa in Koh Samui with my children and friend's family. Two adult Mum's and five children fitted easily into the three bedrooms and we never felt like we were on top of each other. The living and dining areas were ample and while the children were watching a video we were able to have a relaxing cocktail by the pool, and still keep an eye on them.
The villa has a wonderful kitchen but the restaurant overlooking the ocean was our favourite dining spot. Even with the children we felt welcome and the menu was varied enough to eat there a number of nights.
With the choice of the villa pool, two hotel pools and the beach, we were well entertained. We did hire a car for our stay and getting around the island was easy. There are many options for day trips and numerous restaurants, but the amenities at the villa made it very hard to leave!
The villa was well looked after and the staff efficient and helpful. The villa was cleaned each day, but we were never disturbed by it. I also liked the security around the villa and the hotel. As our husband's were not able to join us on this stay I was a little cautious, but not only is each villa very private, that seclusion enhanced the security. It was lovely for the children to run around and play without having to watch them all the time and without being concerned about them disturbing other people.
It was a heavenly stay and I will definitely return. My husband also insists on coming next time!

Ottawa, CanadaOur Week at the Tetro's Karma Samui
Left on 01/15/2013 for a stay in December 2012
We can sum it up by saying "One week is not enough!!". This is a spectacular place - on a stunning island. The Villa was perfect for our family: a lovely kitchen and living room, spacious sleeping quarters, modern bathrooms, and the court yard (and pool) is a slice of tropical heaven. As great as Samui is, we were tempted to stay at Ian and Leslie's villa at Karma the whole time.
The villa was stunning and serene. The owners have done an amazing job - and we were blown away with the functionality and beauty. We did not want our time there to end.
The Karma facilities are also top notch. We had excellent food at the restaurant, many fun swims in the pool, and good body surf on the Karma beach. The Karma beach is true beauty: palm trees juxtaposed with rugged rocks. We felt the beach was our own, and we really enjoyed time on the beach (or looking over it from the main pool and restaurant).
Chaweng beach was also great: more excitement and hustle and bustle. Lots of restaurants, great people watching, fun things to do (like the climbing castles / floating play structures in the surf), great for little kids and big kids alike. The town is full of amazing shopping (great deals to be had) and non-stop activity. A great chance to immerse yourself in the Thai culture too.
Other things we enjoyed while on Samui: Elephant rides, Thai Massage, temples, the best food in the world, did we mention Thai Massage???
It was 20 hours in transit for us to get there from Canada, 12 hours' time difference, and serious jet lag... but we will for sure be heading back to Ian & Leslie's place at Karma Samui. It was totally worth it.
