Burnham Harbor visitors enjoy the best skyline views one can ever ask for; there are plenty of friendly boaters in the area. Our Field Museum, The John G. Shedd Aquarium and the famous Adler Planetarium are just 1-2 blocks away. Free parking for 1 car is included with your stay. My family has been coming to Chicago for many years. We've stayed at different hotels, but this was by far the most unique and fun hotel experience we've ever had in Chicago. If you're not familiar with Chicago, this is the primo marina in the Windy City, right by Soldiers Field, Shedd, Field Museum. More importantly, it is right on the paved bike/running/walking path along Lake Michigan and Lake Shore Drive...got to be one of the most beautiful city scenes in the country. So location is perfect.
The boat was great. Clean and big enough for my husband and I to enjoy each other yet not feel cramped. We cooked our breakfasts and lunches and then enjoyed dinner out.
I wish I could find this experience in every city I travel to that is on water.
You won't be disappointed. -

My family cannot stop raving over our fabulous get-away find on the, "Pier Gold Boatel B & B" in Chicago! It is absolutely perfect for...a romantic escape, a family vacation, or just anyone wanting a unique place to stay while traveling to and from Chi town. The yacht is located in an absolutely prime location, at Burnham Harbor! It's super easy to find (just a quick exit off of Lake Shore Dr.)...and parking is a breeze. *Bonus - Parking is included for one vehicle! (Try finding free parking in the city!! Lol) Needless to say, the harbor and "Pier Gold" are simply beautiful...and we felt very safe! Our hostess, Mary, was friendly and accommodating. She has the boat stocked with many conveniences of home! As well, we were within walking distance of sooo many great attractions. Plus, if you like to walk, jog or bike, some of the best trails within our Country are only a stone throw away! Our family walked through Grant Park and over to Buckingham Fountain... And we even took a water taxi to Navy Pier...What a blast! However, had we just stayed on "Pier Gold" for our entire visit, we would've been completely satisfied. As, the yacht truly has all that you need for a fabulous get-away! Our group was in awe of the beautiful skyline views while sitting upon Pier Gold's deck. Our boys and my husband, thought that it was "too cool" that Soldier Field was right outside our door! The entire family found the boat to be extremely comfortable...no one wanted to leave! Yes, it may cost more than a typical hotel room. Although, we were able to justify paying more for the amenities, location, convenience and unbelievable views! I could go on and on about why you need to book your next stay at the "Pier Gold Boatel B & B" in Chicago... Yet, in conclusion, I would sum our stay up to being a very unique and memorable alternative to any hotel stay. I'm convinced that this is definitely the best way to see Chicago!

Pier Gold was absolutely amazing! A group of four of us booked through Mary last august looking for an alternative to the typical "hotel" and could not have scored more of a home run! The location is off the charts - soldier field and the the best of the Chicago skyline is right there. And on top of the views, the community that spends their weekends in the harbor are all about relaxing and enjoying. In addition to the boat being stocked for all of your cooking etc., you have options for many types of food to be delivered to you right in the harbor; obviously, Chicago is known for great food. The local options won't disappoint! This creates one more reason that Pier Gold is not just a great way to see, but to truly be a part of the Chicago experience. We had ourselves stocked to cook on-board our entire stay so we didn't leave the boat almost at all. One in our group was a worried that just being docked in a yacht would be a disappointment (this is a B&B;, we stayed at port), and now he can't wait to go again. It is an experience that you can't imagine unless you have done it. In the city I have loved all my life, we barely left the boat! Mary and her staff were incredibly nice and helped make our time fantastic. The accommodations are excellent and housed the four of us comfortably. The a/C was cold, the fridge kept the drinks perfect...I truly could go on and on. If you ride/walk/run, you are perfectly located to catch the lakeshore trails - we cycled three of our days. Museums are very close as well. We have stayed at the Drake, the Sheraton...all of the great spots and they are truly great, but this experience is worth doing again and again. Mary and all, Thank You!!
