ArkansasBeautiful apartment, in great neighborhood
Left on 05/13/2012 for a stay in February 2012
We stayed in this apartment for a while when our son was inpatient at the Children's hospital close by. It is very clean and nicely decorated. Felt like a home away from home and gave us our own escape for rest when not at the hospital. Shannon is a pleasure to work with and she made our experience even better! Would definitely stay here again and would recommend this rental to anyone for short or long term. A+++ property!

Amsterdam, NetherlandsExcellent access
Left on 01/09/2012 for a stay in November 2011
Was visiting the States from amsterdam , and we planned a very last-minute trip to Chicago. Shannon was very accommodating, friendly and kind. She followed up immediately to our request for a space, and offered us the Seminary/Fullerton apartment.
The best part was the very close access to the El, which allowed us to get to every point in the city with ease. The apartment itself was clean and comfortable. Thanks Shannon for the great visit! -

I was looking for a last minute rental for my birthday as some friends of mine surprised me and flew in from arizona. Shannon was more than accommodating, and offered me a great deal on this unit and the unit below. It is in the perfect location, not too far to walk to a breakfast place or to hop on the el. I was able to have a get together and cook dinner for my friends while having enough space for them all to sleep. I would recommmend this for anyone as it is a quiet neighborhood but as long as respectful of the people in the same building or next to you a small party (with music and a dance party) is manageable.

London, Paris, FlorenceBeware of dishonest management
Left on 10/14/2011 for a stay in September 2011
We' ve booked rentals in London, Vienna, and Paris with no problems. We booked this at the last minute for Labor Day Weekend to help our daughter move. Because there were no credit card provisions we paid cash including the deposit and we've lost our deposit with no recourse. The unit is minimal, dark with tiny bedrooms and a grungy entry hall and stairs. Don't use both the coffee pot and hairdryer at the same time as it will trip the breakers and plunge you into darkness. After trying the numbers posted (one answered demanding to know how we'd gotten the number; the other was disconnected) hubby pulled out his flashlight, braved the basement, and found the electrical box. Electricity restored. Beds are acceptable, but hard to get into given the room size. Location around the corner from DePaul University is good (and that's why we booked it). It does not make up for what turned out to be an expensive rental of a dingy apartment.

The Jones family were looking for a deal and after their initial inquiry waited several days to book. Despite receiving my email that I would be leaving on Friday to go camping in a remote area, Karen waited until after 10pm on Thursday to try to organize her family vacation for one of the busiest weekends of the year. I did my best to accommodate her family from hundreds of miles away, having to pull into a rest stop to email and call regarding her rental. Given credit card processing times for such a small business, I explained that I could not take a credit card the day of arrival. Rather than pay with PayPal--I sent a PayPal request but she didn't want to create an account, a process that takes just a few minutes--Karen paid cash. To do this, I imposed on my sister, who had recently returned home from the hospital with a very ill infant. Rather than the usual $200 deposit, she asked to pay just $100, which we accepted as it was cash. Her refund check was sent electronically long ago. But she failed to respond to the inquiries from my bank to verify her account - they send 2 payments of a few cents - so the payment was never made. I've been renting apartments here for over 20 years, something you can't do if you offer a poor product or mistreat renters. I will now have to spend more time to cancel the electronic payment she failed to take a few minutes to facilitate and mail her the deposit by check. I even offered to send the money to one of her daughters, figuring they might have a PayPal account like over 60% of Americans.
As for the failure to reach my handyman (the other number provided), it is hard to get people to work on a holiday weekend like Labor Day. Had Karen read the note above the one outlet in the bedroom where she tried to dry her hair while using appliances in the kitchen, she would have noticed the notice just above the outlet: DO NOT PLUG HAIR DRYER INTO THIS SOCKET. For whatever reason, that one socket is tied to a breaker that is pretty loaded. This is an historic building, and along with the brick walls and beautiful heart-of-pine floors come some finickiness. My bedrooms are included in the photos of the unit. They are small, as is typical of the old brownstones in the neighborhood. I suppose some people prefer a hotel room set up, with a king-sized bed in the middle of a beige room. I suggest Karen stick with the Holiday Inn for her future vacations and pay the comparatively higher prices. Best of luck to her! -

Left on 05/19/2011 for a stay in June 2010
I stayed with Shannon during June 2010 and would recommend any of the apartments to perspective tenants. Location close to Fullerton station is great, everything you need is within walking distance. The local Gaslight bar was my favorite in the Lincoln park area.
