This beautiful house on the Gulf of Mexico is bright and spacious. It is east of Chicxulub and Progreso, on Yucatan's coastal highway, one half hour north of Merida. The white sand beach is perfect for beachcombing and long walks. A short drive takes you to local markets in Chicxulub or Progreso, or you may drive a little farther to Merida, the glorious colonial capital of the Yucatan, where you'll find excellent shopping, restaurants and fabulous sightseeing.

Everyone who has visited the house agrees it is more beautiful than the photos show, and it really is.

This is a tranquil and relaxing beachfront environment in a spacious... and well-equipped house. The Gulf waters are always warm. The neighborhood is safe and peaceful, and there is an abundance to see and do - nearby ruins, great restaurants, and excellent sightseeing in colonial Merida.

There really isn't anywhere else in the world like it. The warmth and old-world charm of this unspoiled region of Mexico will make you want to return again and again. Our large, private home is on a serene sand beach, east of Progreso on the Gulf of Mexico.

You will be near the beautiful colonial city of Mérida, the business capital of the Yucatan, where there are wide, palm tree-lined avenues, horse-drawn carriages, mansions and museums. The shopping is fabulous and there are countless restaurants catering to every taste and price range. For those who can't live without a taste of home, there is TGIF and Applebees, Home Depot and Costco.

Just a half-hour drive north on a well-maintained highway you come to the Gulf Coast and Progreso, which is flanked to the
west and east by sleepy fishing villages. Progreso is a bustling port town where you will find authentic markets, wonderful
restaurants, and stores offering all the services you could want. When the cruise ships come in, the Malecon, Progreso's
waterfront boardwalk, is lined with vendors. You will likely enjoy several dinners watching the sunset from one of the Malecon's
charming restaurants, then drive twenty minutes home along the coastal highway to your beach house.

  We stayed at Yax Che New Years week 2012-2013. We called with very short notice (the day before arriving) and were still accommodated without hesitation. The home was clean and spacious with a special Mediterranean beachy feel but was not pretentious- we all felt very much at home. The house was close enough to Merida and other small towns as well as many Mayan cites and cenotes. We had enough to keep us busy with out feeling like we had a hectic holiday. The ocean wasn't clear at this time of year, and virtually all other houses were empty. We would return during high season to see what difference it makes in the atmosphere and the water. All together great beachy property & well taken care of.
