Kingston, New YorkDisappointing
Left on 08/29/2012 for a stay in July 2012
Unlike the prior reviewer, I had a parade of ants in the kitchen, which must be common since there are like 5 kinds of bug spray under the sink. The main bathroom smelled so bad when I arrived that I opted to use the smaller bathroom located farther away from the bedrooms for the duration of my stay. Leaving the door closed with the air conditioning on did mitigate the odor in the main bathroom after about a day. You have to bring your own sheets and towels, but I didn't bring pillowcases because that wasn't specified, and the pillows that were provide smelled like sweat. I swapped them out with ones from the 2nd bedroom. There is no balcony, as indicated in the "Amenities" section. Wi-Fi was provided through the house next door which made it slower, and I had to call the rental agency to find out that was the WiFi I could use. If you are planning to do your own cooking, know that the appliances are ancient. While it was a relatively comfortable place with a peaceful yard, and boat dock (across the street), I would look for something in better condition for my next stay on Chincoteague Island.

Selinsgrove, Pa.Wonderful family beach vacation @ Clark's Cottage
Left on 09/13/2011 for a stay in August 2011
Our week stay @ Clark's cottage during late august 2011 was terrific. No bugs. It was our boys'(ages 8 & 10)first trip ever to "The Beach". We wanted their 1st beach experience to be more of a "natural" one than a "tourist-filled" one. Assateague Beach provided just that. It was right across the beautiful channel you viewed from Clark's cottage. We were @ the beach each day within 10mins. We could have rode our bikes there. Lots of bike riding on the island. Everyone was doing it. At night we enjoyed seeing the Lighthouse across the way flashing it's light for ships thru the night. My husband and boys loved our exploration to the top of the assateague Lighthouse. My son took some beautiful pics from up there. I, myself, made it to the last level below the top landing before my "Fear of heights" got the better of me. I abandoned shiop & headed back down the steps. The assateague Island Wildlife Refuge had a nice museum and trails to explore the homes of all the animals that inhabited the island, including the Ponies. We combed assateague Beach @ 5:30am one morning for shells & jellyfish. My husband enjoyed mastering his stunt kite @ the beach. We liked trying out the pizza on the island. It took us 2 days to find the one and only grocery store on Chincoteague during our explorations. The store had everything we needed, including cheap T-shirts, Lol. We were looking for bait to crab from the nice dock the cottage shared with the "Hopkins House". The boys had a lot of fun learning to catch crabs in the nets we brought. It was nice the cottage supplied all our "cooking & eating crab" supplies. Mallots, crackers, pots, etc. Memorial Park, which consists of playground, skate park, b-ball crts and huge fishing pier was right down our road. We rode bikes there several times. Took a 50min drive to O.C. Maryland one day to show boys "The Boardwalk experience". The cottage was a comfortable, pleasing place to return to after each excursion. I would recommend it to all!
