We had a great time visiting in November. It was the perfect weekend getaway. The house was absolutely gorgeous, and the house sits a couple feet from the water. The natural light throughout the home and the fireplace were just extra perks. We will definitely book this house again!

Bird Watchers
Washington DC Metro areaReturn visit was better than last year
Left on 11/19/2012 for a stay in November 2012
Again, this wonderful home exceeded our expectations. From 94 to 61 years young, we all enjoyed bird watching over breakfast and dinner - we never even went out to eat because we might miss something. And the kitchen is so well supplied, gourmet meal were easy to prepare. A bald eagle from the Refuge did join us for lunch our last day, a loon made daily morning swims right up the canal and all types of heron were found most mornings at the waters edge of the canal. We took advantage of the ground level room to store our bikes this year - only 2.5 easy and safe miles to the Refuge. The elevator was wonderful, not just for those with knee problems, but to bring in groceries and our bags. This year we extended our stay to 5 days, and we could have easily enjoyed 5 more, the home is so wonderfully furnished (comfortable beds, welcoming livingroom & fireplace, great bathrooms, clean and private).

Johnston, SCExtremely satisfied guests!

I would recommend this rental property to everyone. Great place for all ages! Lots of room for a large family. The bedroom suites are comfortable and provide guests with a place for quiet solitude when they need it. The living room and dining room allow plenty of room for family gatherings. The view of the water and the sunsets is gorgeous. Great neighborhood for early morning walks. The "gazebo in the sky" is a great place to spend early mornings sipping coffee and reading a book while you watch the boats go by. The furnishings are exquisite. Not your typical beach house. It is a short drive to everything (the beach, restaurants, shops, ice cream parlor). The property is clean and well-maintained and the owner is very helpful. Book your stay now!Response from Timothy Hackler - 11/26/2012

The Moorings was a great place to stay while visiting Chincoteague. There was plenty of room for eight non-couple adults, with a great open concept area for all to enjoy together, catching up. Both the realty company and the owner were very pleasant. I would highly recommend this place.

This is the second year we stayed at the Moorings. It is a beautiful, comfortable house that was the perfect home base for our children and grandchildren. We will come again - it seems like home!

Concord, NHAn Ideal "Mooring" (Comfortable Elegance with a "killer view")
Left on 06/09/2011 for a stay in May 2011
The Moorings North was the ideal vacation spot for my family's ( 5 sisters plus 2 nieces) biennial "girls' vacation." The comfortably elegant style, decor and perfect location on the water of Chincoteague Bay more than lived up to the description and photos on the website. The modern, well-equipped kitchen, luxurious suites and the four beautifully appointed baths were appreciated by our group of seven "mature" women...to say nothing of the (easy to use) elevator to bring up (too much) luggage, food and drink! While we enjoyed exploring the area - antiquing, walking the Ocean City boardwalk, hiking the local trails, viewing the islands from the water on a "Daisey cruise", shopping on Main Street, savoring the local seafood at Bill's or The Village, touring assateague Island on the Chincoteague Natural History Museum wildlife tour (with its many photo ops of the famous ponies "up close and personal") and even climbing the asseteague Light... when it was time to leave we all wished we had spent more time at Moorings North on our own "private" decks or in the "gazebo in the sky." This is our eighth "girls vacation" and we have rented in various spots in Maine, Cape Cod and Outer Banks and have loved the houses we found; none, however, had a better location and most were not as beautiful and comfortable as Moorings North. We like to explore different areas so we may not be back to Chincoteague Island soon; however, if ever we do I will not have to waste any time searching for the ideal spot!
