Chincoteague is a great place to vacation if you like quiet and love the beach. HOWEVER, there are very few nice rental properties...most are old and need some work. We thought we had found a gem in this one, but ended up being very disappointed. First of all, the property is for sale, which we were not told. That means that it could be shown while we were renting it. Surprise! The list of issues with the property would have to start with the bathroom. There was mold in the tub, and a large area of water-logged hardwood floor in the outside corner of the tub. When we told the rental office, the man said that we was unaware of that. Really?! And the property is being shown? Gross. The hot water heater was small, and the water temperature was barely above tepid. The kitchen layout was very awkward, and some of the supposedly clean utensils were filthy...we ended up washing everything by hand before we used it. And the cable had been turned to some kind of winter mode, and did not work correctly the entire time, despite two calls to the cable company and one to the rental office. The entire home needed a thorough cleaning, including corners and the ceiling fans. As much as I love Chincoteague, I have no plans to ever rent a home there again.
