LAGood Basic Villa

I rented Time Out with my husband and 5 year old son. The villa has recently been refurbished and for the most part it's well done. This is our 9th trip to STJ and we have stayed in about as many villas so we are familiar with STJ villas. Time Out feels like a rental, not a well loved home. It has all the basic things you need in a villa, but not much more. We really enjoyed the view and the beautiful sunsets. The pool was a decent size for us and we were in it 3 times per day, even in February. The hot tub is very small and barely holds 2 adults. The hot tub came on every night and ran automatically for several hours and it became very hot. We ended up exchanging water from pool to hot tub to try and regulate the temp. The furniture in Time Out is very large and the living/dining are is very cramped. the bedrooms also had large furniture but were a little easier to navigate. The driveway is quite steep but we had no problems navigating it. We really enjoyed our 2 weeks in Time Out and have no regrets renting it. Would we stay there again? Probably not.

Time out was rented sight unseen - and we feel lucky to have discovered this property. It was just what we were looking for - relaxing location, not in the center of the "hub-bub" but yet close enough to the town and National Park to make travel time not an issue. We traveled as two couples, and enjoyed the privacy afforded by the two bedrooms/baths separated by an adequate living space. The pool was beautiful and used daily, as was the hot tub. Overlooking the water was absolutely the ultimate in relaxation and I felt we were in an idyllic paradise. If you are looking for luxury and the ultimate in amenities, this is not your place. If you are looking for a comfortable home-like atmosphere, with cleanliness and tidiness a priority, with lots of books, music, TV, games, plus a gorgeous view and proximity to the National Park and town, then Time out will be perfect for you. The driveway was a fun adventure each time we entered it - we were pros at cheering our car on by the end of our week's stay. A car rental is suggested. Destination St. John proved to be a very reliable rental company. They did exactly what they said they would do, and our greeter was super! Hint: Talk to the ladies at connections to find out the "scoop" on island vacationing. Do that as soon as possible after your arrival.
