As a repeat customer I can say that, Geri and Steve's Gemini House has always been a great experience. Their warmth and and hospitality has offered a "home away from home" for myself, as well as friends. Thank you for a unforgetable vacation. Least not forget, Geri's outstanding breakfast always sets the day, for a busy day of exploring the island. Thanks, Morgan.

Warm and inviting hosts. Great breakfast. Not as private as some other guest houses we have tried (shared bathroom with other guests and shared kitchen with hosts) but works well for a shorter stay. Pretty close to the airport.

Wonderful, friendly and welcoming hosts. I felt at home the moment I walked through the door. Delicious and inventive breakfasts that were available at any time to suit all from the energetic dawn riser and early surfer, to those who would rather indulge in relaxing. Excellent, fast WiFi internet, the fastest I've ever found!

Geri and Steve were so welcoming and friendly from the first day. Breakfast was a delight and different each day, Geri is a great cook and it was wondeful to sit and chat with her each morning, she was a mine of information about Barbados. Location was perfect, just a short walk to the beach and the local shop/bar. Perfect for a relaxing break from it all.

Staying at Gemini House Bed & Breakfast for our beach vacation in Barbados was great! Not sure at first what to expect, upon arrival we were immediately greeted by Geri and Steve, our fabulous hosts, and we knew right then we didn't need to worry about anything! The guest rooms are separate from the main part of the house, so they have just enough privacy without feeling secluded. Amazing view of the ocean from the property and the room. Very short walk to the beach (maybe 2 min.) in a quiet neighborhood with friendly folks. A small convenience store and bar are a short walk from the property as well as public transportation. It's about 10-15 min. by bus to Oistins, and another 5-10 to St. Lawrence Gap, shorter by taxi. It's very clean and comfy, with a/C, cable tv, etc. And ahh breakfast! Each morning, Geri made us a delightful, fresh breakfast from scratch, even going so far as to accommodate several dietary limitations. She kindly helped us with the details of all the activities we wanted to do while we were there like surfing, snorkeling, beach days, swimming with sea turtles, wildlife refuge, sightseeing in other parishes, Harrison's Cave, etc. Staying at the Gemini House instead of a hotel or resort made our trip to Barbados amazing. Geri took great care of us, made sure we enjoyed ourselves, and had great "insider" info that we wouldn't have had otherwise. Very gracious and respectful hosts, Steve and Geri will give you all the privacy you want, even during breakfast, but if you want my advice, don't miss out on the breakfast chats or you might never learn about some of the greatest parts of the island! The only downside to staying here is that Geri spoiled us with the most delicious banana bread we've ever had and now no other banana bread can compare! She even gave us some to take with us on the plane, and realizing halfway to the airport that we forgot it, we made the taxi driver turn around to go back for it-that's how good it was. We'll be back for sure.

A warm welcome from Geri and Steve, relaxed atmosphere. Our room was comfortable and very clean. We shared a shower room and toilet with one other room, no problems with that at all.Geri made us a different breakfast every morning which was superb, along with plenty of coffee and orange juice. Quiet location, beautiful beach, good local bus service to main resorts.Great for chilling out and surfing. Most probably not for those who are looking for all the amenities large resorts offer. For us it was the perfect retreat, hope to go back very soon.

A great place to stay and rest. The hosts are most accomodating and pleasantly provide sound advice for visiting throughout the island. Buses are close by so transportation is not a problem at all.
The rooms have a/c and the breakfasts are very good with the hostess surprising the guests each morning with a different type of breakfast. Breakfast is served out on the patio and this makes for a pleasant time.
I would have no hesitations in returning to the Gemini House B & B.

Everything was just perfect!
The only thing I wish was different is that we should have rented our own car. While the public transport is very close and regular (even on weekends), the hassle with a stroller and a toddler, plus the "unusual" driving ways of the locals is something that we could have definitely lived without.
Gemini House is a wonderful choice for a family. We were taken care of so well, that we just didn't want to leave. The homemade bread and fresh delicious coffee every morning just can't be found at the same value hotels! -

Gemini House is very close to the airport, making it convenient for early flights. The rooms are simple, clean, comfortable, and air-conditioned. This is a local house, in a local neighborhood, across the road from the sea. We were only able to stay one night, but would definitely come back.
Geri is a gracious, attentive hostess. Even though we had to leave very early, she made us coffee and portable omelets to take with us. Overall, a very pleasant, although much too brief, experience. -

Close to bus line but not much to do in surrounding area. Not bad value if you"re just looking for a place to crash.

My wife and I were returning to our favorite Caribbean island to date, Barbados, this time with our fourteen month old baby girl and her maternal grandmother in tow. The beach house in St. James was already booked for two of our seven days, so after reading many reviews of various options, we decided to try Gemini, and it was so worth it! the Inch Marlow area allows for a different feel of the island, more local than tourist. Steve and Geri have certainly found their paradise, and we feel very fortunate that they share a bit of it, albeit as a business. The last comment is on purpose: Steve and Geri manage to make you feel like you're visiting old friends, not a business establishment. They are very welcoming and helpful, but they also allow you your own space, even if it means intruding upon their space somewhat, which our daughter did on numerous occasions in pursuit of their two cats. The rooms are well put together and well kept, spacious, and the beds were very comfortable. Though the nearby beach is rougher than on the west, the baby loved getting into the edge of the surf with her mom, who is an excellent swimmer. There is also a bit of an inlet that is calmer, where I took her and she enjoyed that too. We loved the adventure of the "ZR" mini-buses to go to and from the Gap, Oistins, et cetera. Last but not least, let me say that when we were in St. James, every morning we wished we were back at Gemini having Geri's excellent breakfasts. She could go into business with her baked good, preserves, and so on. Thanks again Steve and Geri!

To start with: Barbados seemed to be extremely expensive place to stay, so I started to search affordable places. Gemini appeared good in web, so it was easy to continue and confirm my stay. It was actually a very good choice: very personal approach, positivity and fast replies to my e-mails. Gh has a good location (hard to find in first place, specially in the dark, though!), with good beach and peaceful and quiet neighbourhood. As in Barbados everything is "close", distances from cities and sights have no meaning anyway! I enjoyed personal service, relaxed attitude and cleanliness, also good breakfasts and intelligent conversations, so it was my kind of holiday! Thanks to the hosts, thank you also for good weather and good travel tips!

If you are looking to get away from the bustling hotels and beaches, Gemini House is your best bet. The owners, Geri and Steve, were extremely attentive and helpful. They know the island and they can give you great advice on almost any aspect of island life (where to go, how to get around, etc.) that would save your time and money. Even though we have researched quite a few things about Barbados and planned our vacation in advance, there is nothing compared to the knowledge of local people who would go an extra mile to make your vacation enjoyable and help you out with any query.
Gemini House is located just two or three minute walk away from the ocean so it was really fantastic to watch the waves just before going to bed or when you start the morning. It is 10 minute drive from/to the airport (you never notice or even think, however, that there is an airport near). It is also conveniently situated within just 10-20 minute drive to the liveliest places on Barbados (Oistins, St. Lawrence Gap, Worthing, Hastings). You can go to any of the beaches, restaurants and night clubs located on the South Coast or beginning of West Coast and once you feel ready for a break, or if you need to change, or call it a night, return to the serene tranquility of Inch Marlow village.
The service is splendid and non-intrusive. Both Geri and Steve make it so that you enjoy your vacation the way you want to. You may plan your day as you wish, get up at any time, and Geri and Steve will make everything for you to have a good start. Speaking of breakfast: you've never had and most likely will never have such a breakfast, unless you return again. Period.
This place is simply magnificent.

Our stay here was second to none. Geri and Steve welcomed us on arrival and during our one week stay we were made to feel at home. Nothing was too much trouble and our breakfast each morning was varied and wholesome - Geri is a wonderful cook, Steve an excellent musician, and both are delightful and sincere people.
It might be as well to hire a car if staying here as it is a distance from the local town of Oistins (Steve can arrange that and it all works very well indeed) although the beach is close by and bus services operate close by. The room we had was spacious and homely.
We have been back now for over a week but the warmth and hospitality of Gery and Steve are with us still - they are a temendous couple and we very much appreciate the care and kindness extended to us during our stay with them. -

Left on 01/12/2011 for a stay in December 2010
My partner and I travelled to Barbados in December 2010 for 3 weeks, mainly to surf, but also to get some sun, relax and experience the culture. We're so pleased that we stayed at the Gemini. Geri and Steve (the owners) are lovely people and from the moment we arrived they did everything they could to improve our experience.
Geri is a fantastic cook and her breakfasts are not to be missed. I'm particularly awkward because I'm a vegetarian and gluten free. Whilst this means that I am limited for choice when I stay in hotels, this didn't phase Geri one bit. In fact, she even baked me gluten free bread.
The rooms are very pleasant, the bed is comfy and, most importantly for me, they were clean. They are a decent size, not huge like some hotel rooms but definitely large enough for 2 people (and to be honest, you wont spend much time indoors as the weather is so great). Geri and Steve have also put air-con into all the rooms, which is really nice!
We had the use of the kitchen to cook if we chose not to eat out, and most nights we found ourselves drinking rum, cooking at home, and sitting at the table outdoors with our meal. Geri would not hear of us washing up - she did everything she could to make our holiday more relaxing, including taking us around to get acquainted with the local area, and also into Bridgetown on a couple of occasions.
The location is great for surfing. It is right by a very consistent surf spot (though its quite a messy break there are always waves). The house is in a very rural area, so you are away from the madness of St Lawrence Gap. It is also a very safe area and I felt quite at ease walking around on my own. The local buses are great for getting around. The bus stop is a 2-minute walk away and the bus takes you along the south coast, past the Gap and into Bridgetown for $1.
All in all we had a fantastic time, and are so glad we stayed at the Gemini. We feel that we made some new friends there and can't wait to return to see them! -

Left on 11/18/2010 for a stay in November 2010
Writing this review was a bit tricky because we didn't know where to start... the delicious breakfasts? the great scenery and ocean views? the easy access to buses, a local beach, and the nearby mini-mart? Actually, the best part of staying at Gemini House was the kind and constantly-helpful owners, Geri and Steve. While many resorts can claim to serve breakfast, Geri cooked up a delicious (and varied) breakfast whenever we woke up - the perfect way to start the day. More important to the visitor, though, was their useful info about how to use the bus system/get a taxi/find a good beach, along with tips for where to get a tasty fish-fry dinner and what the culture of the island is like. Of course, it goes without saying that Gemini House was clean, comfortable and (thanks to a nice aC system) very accommodating to visitors from less tropical climates. The local town is also quite nice for those seeking a more authentic experience than the typical beachfront resort, and being a bit off-the-beaten-path means that heading into Bridgetown, Oistins or anywhere else involves a ride on the fun (and at times crazy) ZR buses. Honestly, I'd recommend Gemini House (and Barbados in general) to anyone thinking of taking a nice, relaxing caribbean vacation... its the best!

I came to stay in Barbados as I was waiting for my Visa renewal. I came across the Gemini Bed and Breakfast by looking online; I went to stay there for one week with Steve and Geri.
I had a wonderful time - Steve and Geri were incredibly accommodating, and Geri would cook a good hearty breakfast (at any time you wake up - now tell me of a hotel that would do that!) and it will keep you going through the day.
The B&B; is situated close to the airport, and within walking distance of a small private-feeling beach with white sands, shade and clear sea. The B&B; is also within walking distance to a convenient bus-stop (ZR) that takes you right in to town for $1.50 (BB) or 75c (us) and the service runs approximately every 1 to 5 minutes! Around the corner is a friendly local bar and small store.
Geri and Steve are an absolute pleasure to stay with; I am in two minds about writing this review since the selfish part of me wants to keep this gem of Barbados a secret! :) But, seriously, if you are looking for a great place to stay in a local environment away from the tourist crowds (but not inconveniently so) then you should give Steve and Geri a ring, right now! -

This is our second stay with Gemini House. The first time we went to Barbados we stayed with Geri and Steve and they made us feel very welcome and it's location makes you feel like you are part of the Bajan community.
The accomodation is in one wing of the house. As a family of 5 we booked out the whole wing. The bedrooms and bathrooms are very well decorated, clean and comforting. The kitchen is the hub of the house and Geri makes a wonderful breakfast.
The location is not far from the airport so there is a quick transfer. The house is around 800 metres from Long Beach. The beach has good waves so is ideal for surfers or just families wanting to chill out like us.
Overall, this B&B; is a excellent place to stay for families or couples. Geri and Steve are so friendly and helpful. -

We will definitely revisit Gemini house!
We have stayed at some of the best hotels that Barbados has to offer but as a gay couple we have always felt the chill of the island's (not limited to Barbados) attitudes towards same sex partners. Gemini house was a truely welcoming experience for us. Steve and Jerri created an atmosphere whereby we felt as part of their family.
Jerri prepared a wonderful breakfast for us rich with fresh fruit and a home made omelet wrap (with homemade tomato salsa).. Thank you Jerri for the fantastic coffee.
We were also lucky to be the first to experience AC in the room with private bath - a nice addition to the 30+ weather. The only downside is the local bus ride to Oistins village (for a Barbadian supper). I would suggest a private taxi. -

Upon arriving at Gemini House B&B I was greated warmly by the Protos. They helped me get settled quickly. I was in much need of sleep and they let me get as much as I could. The B&B is located in a quite area of Christ Church. It has a southern exposure giving views of the Atlantic ocean and Caribbean sea. There was a continuos light breeze flowing from east to west. There are three guest rooms. I stay in the first room with full bath and shower. The facilities I found were great. the center of thge house contained the living room and the kitchen with a porch leading out to a sizable backyard. Thge nearset beach was about a two and a half block walk. I spent most of my time there. Getting into Bribgetown was a quick ride by bus or car. Getting to anywhere on the island from Gemini House was very convenient. If your looking for a quite spot to relax, but is still located close enough to the city and other points of interest I recomend Gemini House Be & Breakfast.

I was grateful and impressed with the service I received at Gemini House, from the moment I arrived to the moment I left Barbados. The location suited me fine - quiet and residential - yet less than a one minute walk from perfect, near-deserted beaches.
The food was delicious and freshly prepared - especially the bread! Amazing bread to be had at Gemini House!
The room was simple and clean, which was all I needed.
Getting out and exploring means catching a van which was only a short walk down the road.
I am planning to stay again at Gemini House and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a simple, pleasant, friendly, no-hassle get-away. -

We were in a independent part of the house, but connected with Steve & Geri apartment. They have been great with us, and we tasted the best breakfast you could ever have: belive us, we are from Italy!
Rooms are simple, small but very clean, and we were 15 minutes walking from a kitesurf spot.
Excellent vacation, we really hope to come back soon! -

A great start by being picked up from the airport. The accommodation was exceelent and really good value for money: Good points: Excellent hosts who were extremely friendly and helpful in all matters. Great local atmosphere. Good value. Excellent healthy breakfast. It was like staying at a friend's house. Friendly local bar.
Less good points: No air-con.Response from Steve Proto - 05/10/2010

New YorkPaul & Blythe, Gemini House Review 12/08 & 12/09
Left on 04/26/2010 for a stay in December 2009
Overlooking the Caribbean you'll find a quiet B and B called Gemini House. Run by a Brooklyn native and his wife Geri who originally came from Trinidad it offers all the warmth and charm you are looking for in this gem of a Caribbean island. Barbados is one of our favorite islands and finding Gemini House gave us even more reason to love it. The house is located on a hilltop with a great view of the ocean. There are 3 rooms all of which are more than adequate for your stay. Being that the owners live there is offers a down home feeling and Geri's smile will warm your day, if not here fresh baked banana bread from their own trees will. In addition to the rooms you can enjoy your breakfast in the kitchen or outside on the patio. There is no set time for breakfast and Geri will make it fresh for you when you decide to start your day. The rooms are private, immaculate and cozy. One of the best things about Gemini House is its location. Away from the hustle of downtown and other resorts it’s in a residential neighborhood but just a 10 minute ride from the airport. Yet it’s a short walk to Long Beach, famous for its kite and windsurfing world wide, and it is spectacular. Except for the whoosh of a kite surfer its quiet and you can walk for what seems forever along unspoiled beaches. And if you are a surfer, then Gemini is perfect for you. Yet even with it’s out of the way location it’s just a short car ride from the Gap, one of the best spots for dining, shopping and beaches on the island. Steve, a musician and recording engineer brings a musical flair and if you play be sure to bring your guitar with you for some good times. While we normally stay at resorts in the Caribbean, Gemini House is a gem and we make sure we plan our trips around their schedule so we can spend time there. Steve and Geri are more than just proprietors; they are family that brings the charm of Barbados to you throughout your stay. This is a great value and a must stay when visiting.

Boston, MAEnjoyable week at Gemini House
Left on 04/25/2010 for a stay in December 2009
I was warmly greeted to Gemini House by Steve and Geri. They were both extremely agreeable and kind. The room was very clean, with everything necessary for an enjoyable stay. Geri's breakfasts are absolutely incredible, not to mention her coffee which has hints of vanilla or cinnamon.
Gemini House is perfectly located. It is in a very safe area, just steps from Surfer's Point. The local rum shop and market is just up the street, with Zed's Surfing Adventures nearby as well.
I had an incredible time at Gemini House, and recommend it to you. -

My husband and I went for a week get away to Barbados and had an excellent time. Geri and Steve are wonderful to stay with. We are still in contact and hope to visit again when we can get away there again. They are located in a quite neighborhood on the southern tip, walking distance from the water and a quick cab/microbus ride away from the Oisten's fish fry (highly recommend going). The lodgings were clean and the food was wonderful. Breakfast was different everyday, but you can always ask Geri if you like something inparticular. It was the perfect getaway. :-) Thanks Geri & Steve. - Jenny

roma-italyan holiday at home of new friends of mine

I received a good service, much cortesy and wish of reply my questions about the isle di barbados: Hystory, amenities, customs and traditions.
the house is very nice, with comfortable rooms and a nice porch in front of the garden, where make breakfast and a drink during the evening.
the location is excellent for those who want to be near the town (five minutes by car) but far enough to be relaxing, quiet and silently.
but what I liked most was the kindness, the willingness of the owners of the house that have hosted me like a friend, as if we had always known each other -

I spent a wonderful stay at Gemini House. The welcome reserved for me by Geri was warm and generous and I immediately felt at home. Geri gave me all the information I needed about places to visit and value-for-money places to eat.
Delicious breakfast included in the price, served on the terrace outside, while watching humming birds.
The house is very well-maintained, with excellent amenities and is a very short distance from a beautiful beach, where you can take long walks. Short distance to a bus stop for tranport along the coast to swimming beaches, fish restaurants and on to Bridgetown, the capital.
Geri and Steve went out of their way to make my stay comfortable and enjoyable.
Many thanks, I'll be back.

We've been with Geri and Steve for 2 years in a row. The first experience was so good that we decided to go the next year again!
Steve and Geri are very friendly people, with great hospitality but also respect for our privacy. The breakfast we had included was marvelous an different every day.I still bake in Holland bananabread and try to get that same smell and tasty bread as a sweet memory at Christ Church, Gemini House.
The bedroom was always clean, with clean sheets and fresh towels.
The location was perfect for us beacause we like kitesurfing everyday: the beach is on walking distance. Also the neighbourhood is safe an quiet at night: we like to have a good sleep!
geri and Steve thanks for the good times we've had, it made our vacation complete! -

Me and my family have stayed at Gemini house over 6 times. There are no words to explain the level of hospitality and serinity that our stay has been. The memories go on for a lifetime. The hostess and host of the Gemini house gave us the attention and all the pampering we need on our stay. The food there is top shelf. They have all the knowledge and expreience of the island to make your island travels a success. Regarding the wonderful island and the local people you cannnot ask for a more plesent atmosphere. You can go anywere on the island at anytime and feel as safe as possible. The local people go out of there way to meke sure your stay on the Island is the best ever.

Great place by the sea with awesome breakfasts. Fancy watersports? probably one of the most convenient location. If you want to stay away from the big resort and want a more authentic experience of Barbados, just go to Christ Church at Gemini House. And make sure you use the minibus they are part of the experience when you go to Barbados

Westport, CT USALike staying with friends, only better
Left on 04/18/2010 for a stay in October 2009
My Barbados experience began with a warm welcome from former New Yorker's Steve & Geri, I can't imagine a better setting to explore the island and meet people in an informal manner. Who better to tell you how to get to the hot night spots, the quiet beaches, where to snorkel with the turtles and best places to catch a meal.
Homemade breakfast served on the patio overlooking the ocean was a special treat each morning and as a writer, their insights into the politics and island culture was invaluable.
A quick walk to the sandy beach in the non-touristy Christ Church is equally close to the airport so you can spend your last moments in the beautiful turquoise blue water before heading home. Leaving was difficult, returning will be easy.

We were recommended Gemini House by a friend. Unfortunately we only had time for an overnight stop over as we were in transit from the Grenadines to Canada. However, we really enjoyed our short stay and were made to feel very welcome. The location, apart from being in a very pleasant corner of the island, was perfectly suited to us because it was not too far from Grantley Adams Airport.
We will no doubt be back again one day and have no hesitation in making recommendations to others that may be looking for a nice B & B in Barbados. -
