Luxury villa, Joias, is situated right by the ocean and enjoying 180º panoramic sea views. It is set in lovely tropical gardens with a beautiful swimming pool and deck area. Some guests hve used the gazebo as their wedding venue because the setting is so romantic.
Joias is a large house ( about 7,500 sq ft) comfortably accommodating up to 10 people. It is completely private and the layout of the accommodation is ideal for large parties or for two families sharing. There are 5 large air conditioned bedrooms - 3 doubles, each with 6ft beds and private, en suite bathrooms, and 2 twin bedded rooms sharing a communicating bathroom.

Joias is on the South Coast, about a mile and a half south of Oistins close to beautiful Miami beach, and only 20 minutes drive from the airport; so there are no long transfers and you can start relaxing as soon as you land! If your only experience of Barbados has been the West Coast you will be in for a pleasant surprise in the South. The beaches are better and you are within easy reach of golf, surfing, kite surfing, banks and shops and the well known St Lawrence Gap with its array of restaurants, bars and night life.
Oistins, the nearest town, is famous for its fish market. You can sit on the veranda at Joias watching the little fishing boats come past and then nip down to purchase your supper!
The shoreline immediately outside the property is reef and amazing for turtle watching but the best swimming is at beautiful Miami Beach just 5 minutes away. Here you will find plenty of shade to sit under and Mr Delicious in his old bus dispensing hot Bajan fish cakes and cold rum punches. Surfers Bay is another nearby beach and a major windsurfing base.
Other Southern beaches include Worthing and Dover whilst round the coast to the South East of the island, trips to Bottom Bay, Foul Bay and the extraordinarily beautiful East Coast are well worthwhile.
We would recommend hiring a car as there is so much to see on the island and it is well worthwhile visiting a variety of beaches and not just those closest to the villa.

We have just returned from a wonderful 11 days at Joias. Idyllic. A stunning property in a magical location. Whether the sun is coming up or going down your reserved seating is guaranteed. A wonderfully short distance from Grantley adams airport and equally very convenient for all local amenities. Sharon could not be more helpful, always there, always smiling. Our morning walk either to Surfer's Beach or Miami Beach was one of the many highlights of our stay. There are too many highlights to mention you will just have to go and find out for yourselves. Please play Golf, please be a Tourist, there is just so much to do and see. Have fun.

We had a very enjoyable 2 week holiday with our 2 daughters. Joias is a very large spacious home overlooking the sea.Its furnished to a very high standard with every modern convenience you could need, wireless Internet over most of the house, a large modern kitchen with all the necessary appliances, large fridge & freezer & ice making machine etc.
Friends joined us with their 4 daughters, the house was more than spacious to cope with 10 guests.There is ample dinning & seating area on the veranda for all guest as well as around the pool & inside the home.
The pool is one of the highlights of the home, set within the beautiful garden. It's located right next to the rocky beach, the water temperature remains perfect all day but is equally stunning flood lit at night.
The home is well maintained by a gardener, pool man & the 'highlight' Sharon, the housekeeper. She comes 3 times a week & waves her magic wand over the house doing all laundry & general house cleaning.
The house is located on the southern point of the island a few minutes drive away from Miami Beach,a white sandy palm tree lined beach where the sea water temperature is like a luke warm bath.
Other places to visit
Oistins on Friday evenings for 'Fry night'a great place for Bajan & food, music & atmosphere.
St. James beach next to Sandy Lane resort for snorkelling, spotting turtles & stingrays as well as jet skiing.
Gospel choir breakfast on Sundays at the Crane Resort Hotel
St. Nicholas's rum plantation house
Cafe Luna is wonderful nearby restaurant,a perfect rooftop location for romantic evening meals or for the family accommodating even for fussy children with no problem.
To summarise as our eldest daughter said 'What a perfect house, perfect beach, perfect view, & a perfect Sharon -the housekeeper! -

I stayed 2 weeks at Joias last November and Mr and Mrs Gilbert have renovated the impressively large house, to an extremely high standard. Most of the several bathrooms/shower rooms (four I think) have been renewed, the rest of the house renovated completely but still keeping it's charm, a new large pool installed,and the gardens landscaped beautifully.
A real pleasure to sit on the huge verandah and watch the turtles swimming past, the sun setting over the sea(rum punch in hand!!) or take a night time dip in the 'underlit' pool. I recommend this house to anyone wanting luxury and peace, but still having the famous lively town of Oistins not far away
