I agree with all the other reviews praising this lovely cottage. So much nicer than a hotel, and yet such a convenient location in a very nice suburb. Thanks Jenny for all the personal touches and helpful advice. The outdoor area was a relaxing bonus!

This is an absolutely delightful little cottage. It has everything you need for your stay in Christchurch. The location is within walking distance of downtown and close to amenities such as restaurants and a grocery store. The owners are very accommodating. We communicated on several occasions prior to our visit and Jenny provided us with information on everything from tours to driving. Loved every minute of it. Thank you so much for everything.

Spent 3 nights here in October. The cottage was very comfortable for the four of us and was within walking distance of downtown Christchurch and the city parks. The owners were delightful to work with and went out of their way to help us plan our trip. Absolutely wonderful experience.

We have travelled N.Z. for five weeks and stayed at cottages throughout the length and breath of this beauitful country and Red Door cottage has to be the very best we stayed in. The cottage is beautifully appointed with everthing that anyone could ask for. It is so comfortable warm with fantastic beds and a pantry full of wonderful goodies .No other cottage offered anything like this one did Jenny was very helpful with any query we had . We loved the quiet lane it is postioned in and the lovely gardens and so very close to the city .The appointments of this cottage is second to none. Thanks Jenny for everything and if we are back in Ch Ch I know where we will stay and that will be Red Door Cottage

Wow, from the minute we walked in the door on a cold, late winters night to a nicely heated living room plus heaters turned on in both bedrooms, we felt like we were at home.
Thank you very much Jenny for sharing the Red Door Cottage, I am sure we will return if we ever need to stay in ChristchurchResponse from Jenny Taylor - 06/22/2012

We were completely charmed and impressed by this comfortable and tastefully furnished cottage. The owners have been very thoughtful in ensuring that our needs are looked after right down to the provision of bandages. It was a perfect end to our 10 day road trip of South Island. We feel like very pampered house guests of our unseen hostess. Thank you for sharing your house.

We wish we could have stayed longer! Very happy with the cottage. Jenny does a great job of making you feel welcome and relaxed. Would recommend to anyone who is visiting Christchurch. I have to say it was one of the best if not the best place we stayed in our trip around the south island. They have thought of everything.Only thing I could say is maybe have another fold-out bed.(there is room for it)! Thanks again Jenny.

When we arrived at the Red Door Cottage, we didn't want to leave. This is a very cute home with all the amenities. Jenny left us with a fully stocked pantry and refrigerator, all the kitchen appliances you'd ever need, the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in, a washer and dryer with detergent, stain remover, etc. included, a modern kitchen, free wireless internet, and a big flat screen television.
Jenny was the most amazing hostess. When our mother couldn't get a hold of us, she actually came over to see if we were OK, and called her back in the States to tell her we were fine. Incredible! I wish I could have stayed a week instead of two days. The location was great. Easy walk or bus ride to wherever you need to go, and near the cutest little village in case you wanted to be close to home at night. Perfect!! Thank you, Jenny, for a great experience! -

Two couples visiting Christchurch had a wonderful stay in this perfect little cottage. Everything about this place was first class and we were especially apprectiative of the provisions that were available for us at our arrival. We were quite happy to recipricate and leave provisions for the next occupiers. Warm and toasty, handy to supermarket and a great restaurant (Brigittes) so we could both dine in and dine out. Beds were comfy. The cottage was easy to find and in a quiet location. Thanks for helping make the weekend great. Would highly recommend to anyone. So much better than a motel (and even some hotels).

Red Door Cottage was exactly what we needed, as a family of four motels become very expensive, i stumbled accross this wonderful place while searching for alternatives to motels. Its wonderful the best self catering accomodation we have stayed in and we have stayed in lots of places throughout New Zealand and Overseas.
It was perfect for us, we had just returned to Christchurch after living overseas for 18 months. We needed a base while we packed up our belongings to shift up to Wellington. It was so homely and inviting not like the sterile motel rooms we have stayed in, in the past. Jenny was marvelous as everything we might have needed was there ready for us. We have recommended this cottage to everyone we know! Thank you so much and we will be back again...soon!
With Great Thanks

Have just had the most wonderful Easter break in New Zealand, staying at Red Door Cottage. The cottage was perfect in every way - it is quiet, clean, conveniently located and Jenny has equipped it so that everything we needed was at hand. It has enough room so that the 4 of us (2 couples) had plenty of space, both bedrooms were large, comfortable and tastefully decorated.
As a lot of restaurants in Christchurch were either closed for Easter or (sadly) too damaged to open, we cooked and ate in most nights. The kitchen is more than adequate for 2 cooks, and the pantry was very generously stocked - far better than any other place we have stayed.
The cottage is large, airy, clean and beautifully appointed - I can't recommend it highly enough. Unfortunately Christchurch is badly damaged, but already it is getting back on its feet, so it is a great place to base yourself to explore the beautiful surrounding (and undamaged) areas.
Thank you Jenny, for providing this lovely haven, which really made our stay in Christchurch memorable. We will definitely be back, and sincerely hope that the lovely city of Christchurch recovers soon.Response from Jenny Taylor - 05/02/2011

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Red Door Cottage. We booked this accommodation for our last two nights of a three plus week stay in New Zealand. It was the perfect place to unwind before returning home. The home and yard were beautiful and perfectly furnished. It was quiet and very conveniently located. We couldn't have asked for more. Thanks Jenny!

We stayed at Red Door for five weeks, and we were entirely happy with it. The location in Merivale is great, in a beautiful suburb with easy access to the town center. The house is beautiful, with sun through its picture windows almost all day. It is well furnished, and the kitchen is fully equipped – the sort of house where you step in the door and everything is there. (We suspect that Jenny and John really enjoy fitting up a house.) The place is cosy and warm in the winter.
We highly recommend a stay at this house.(Note that the house is excellent by American standards.)

We had an early flight arriving early in Christchurch and Jenny allowed us to check in early. There was a complimentary breakfast which was really a nice gesture..The holiday home is very cosy and warm in spite of the very cold weather. Excellent location - just close in the city but still we got the privacy we needed. We really liked this place and the owner, Jenny and John made sure we had a convenient and comfy stay esp for our daughter and our infant with us.

We arrived earlier than is normally acceptable but were warmly welcomed by Jenny and John. The cottage was just ideal for us in every way especially with the extra room to move as we have family that we were wanting to be able to entertain while staying. The beds are comfortable and inviting as is the decor and everything was spotlessly clean and quieter than any motel we have stayed in. Many thanks, we will be rebooking with you in the future and have been telling our family and friends about "the cottage".
