Our home in Ireland can be yours too for an enjoyable holiday in beautiful unspoilt County Mayo, Ireland. A traditional cosy farmhouse holiday cottage set in an acre of peaceful secluded gardens and surrounded by country lanes, lakes and river streams for those leisurely walks and total relaxation. Our Farmhouse holiday cottage is located only a few miles from the towns of Kiltimagh and Claremorris with their many restaurants and amenities. Galway, Westport, Ballina and the Mayo county town of Castlebar are all within an hour's drive as is the west coat, Joyce's Country and the beautiful Connemara National Park.

This charming 2 be...droom cottage can accommodate a family or small groups as there are also two bed settees and a z-bed for children sharing with parents. There is plenty of garden space for games and a lockup shed for storage. Our rates are fully inclusive and our housekeeper, who lives nearby, is always on hand to offer help and advice.

Our location is just a 30 minute drive from Knock Ireland West Airport serviced daily by Ryanair from London Stansted, Luton, East Midlands, Liverpool and Bristol. For our American, and other overseas visitors Shannon and Dublin Airports are just a few hours drive away.

The 2 storey cottage is set in an acre of mature garden and has been restored and modernised to a good standard with natural pine floors and full oil fired central heating.

The sitting room and kitchen have open fires. There are 2 wingback armchairs, one futon style bed settee and a fully sprung bed settee, useful for children or if you have friends or visitors staying over.

The kitchen diner is bright and modern and benefits from a 4 ring stove, high level oven, grill and microwave, fridge with small freezing compartment and dishwasher. There are 6 dining chairs and adequate crockery, cutlery and utensils. There is also a Washer and Drier for your convenience.

The house has two bedrooms, the master bedroom has a double bed and features windows to 3 aspects, the second bedroom has a double bed (accessed from one side only). Both rooms have wardrobes and bedside tables with lamps.

The bathroom is simple in design with windows to 2 aspects. There is a full-size bathtub with independently controlled electric shower over, toilet and washbasin.

There is a secure shed with a table and 4 garden chairs, a basketball net and balls, 2 adult bikes [M&F;] and a barbecue. The 1-acre garden is mainly laid to lawn.

Note: The stairs are steep and may be unsuitable for the very young or elderly as the bathroom is upstairs.

Our Farmhouse Cottage is situated in what is the rural splendour of beautiful County Mayo, Ireland. Knock Marian Shrine is located nearby and for shoppers the City of Galway and the county town of Castlebar are hard to beat 'who needs Dublin when you have Castlebar' is what the locals say!

Within easy reach is the Atlantic coast, Joyce's Country and the beautiful Connemara National Park. Westport and clew bay offer local fishing, golf, horse riding. There are many historical sites and places of interest to visit traditional pubs, 'ceol agus craic' and excellent food.

Also worth a visit is the town of Westport, at the base of the sacred mountain of Croagh Patrick. One of Europe`s most famous pilgrimage sites, the mountain is often climbed barefoot by devotees of St. Patrick but anyone is free to make the trip. Those that decide to do so are rewarded with stunning views of the island-strewn Clew Bay. Westport also offers less strenuous pursuits, including golf, fishing and cycling around town. Westport’s cheerful, multi-coloured shop fronts jostle for attention with an attractive selection of pubs, shops, cafés and restaurants. Little wonder it has become one of Ireland’s most popular and cosmopolitan holiday destinations. One of the few planned towns in Ireland the beautiful and unique boulevard known as The Mall was designed in the 18th Century by James Wyatt.

Just a short drive from Westport lies Achill Island, a popular summer holiday

destination for locals. Connected to the mainland by a two-lane bridge at Achill Sound, the large island offers lots of outdoor activities, with several blue flag beaches, surfing, hill-walking, wind surfing and golf all available to keep you busy. The island makes an excellent spot for a relaxing getaway and a couple of nights here is sure to leave you feeling completely de-stressed.

Driving in Ireland in straightforward and most of the rural roads are quiet and easy to navigate. No matter how long you have to spend, Mayo is a laidback county where you will discover authentic Irish hospitality at its best.

Mayo offers a variety of scenery from the fishing villages on the coast to dramatic inland mountains, including a famous hilltop shrine. Some of the highlights of a holiday in County Mayo include a visit to the pretty town of Ballina on the River Moy, around 35 miles from Knock.Read more

A lovely location, quiet and peaceful yet centrally located within easy driving distance of all the sightseeing areas in Counties Mayo and Galway. Directions to the property were excellent and Edwin's on-line video shows you exactly what you get at the house. Welcomed by Trish who had the fire going, a really warm welcome after a long drive. Large enclosed garden very safe for young children. All necessary linen, towels, utensils provided, with the bonus of no extras for heating, electricity, cleaning . All essential shopping available in Kiltymagh as well as places to eat. Further afield additional amenities in Claremorris, Castlebar or Westport. Ideal property and good location for a visit to the West Coast of Ireland. As others have said the location was perfect for pure relaxation, with the odd car, tractor and pedestrian being the only noise heard other than normal country sounds eg birds and cows. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay and all batteries fully recharged.

  The Perfect Way to Relax Into any Holiday

  After a great drive through the lovely countryside, we were met at the cottage and shown where everything was - and were given good tips on where to eat out and the whereabouts of local sights. Not to mention, a bottle of wine was also left as a welcome gift.
  
  We spent most of our days walking though the fields and feeding the horses up the road. There is also a disused railway track some 500m away and a lake 200m away that is a good excuse for some exploring of the area. So far, it has been the best holiday to relax, unwind and take life at our own pace.
  
  Sitting by the fire playing a board game with a drink in-hand was a perfect way to spend an evening. On a clear night I would heartily recommend taking a stroll outside for some star gazing - the number of stars and clarity of them truly is astonishing. You will also notice that it is so peaceful - no noise of traffic/neighbours can be heard from the cottage.
  
  All in all, we are glad that we booked another night - and are looking forward to our next trip back!
