Additional Location Information
Tucked away on a virtually private beach, yet within easy walking distance of the main village of Clifton, Joshua's House is the ideal spot for a quiet getaway. Union Island, a volcanic island in the southern Grenadines of St. Vincent and the Grenadines set in the Caribbean Sea, provides a quiet retreat while also offering many activities for vacationers.
Bathing in the azure sea – snorkeling, kiteboarding and SCUBA diving are wonderful here – day sail trips around islands in the vicinity, lobster BBQs in the Tobago Cays, walking the narrow roads of the island, lazing on the beach or your private terrace, fishing with local fishermen. Or consider the possibility of chartering a yacht for a few days, allowing you to enjoy the sea, with a shore base.

Global CitizenA lovely Caribbean experience
Left on 02/17/2012 for a stay in February 2012
We stayed at Joshua's House for a week with two very young children. The staff at Erika's Marine were very helpful and quick to respond when we had a request or question. The location of the house is somewhat remote, despite being an easy walk into town. This was both wonderful and at times frustrating in that we had to do the walk often with little kids.
The view from the deck is phenomenal, and it is unique being right next to a small air strip.
The house itself is a quirky layout-- somewhat dark and small-feeling, but that didn't really matter as we spent almost all of our time out on the patio. Although it is a relatively new house, the salty humid air has taken a toll on the metal work (locks, bolts, hinges, etc.) and so it appears to be much older than it is.
Union is generally very windy, so we found that many of our belongings were blowing around. This is an awesome location for kite-surfers; the kite-beach can be seen from the deck and it's a quick walk around the air strip to the kite school. -

Toronto, Canada.A wonderful month in Union Island living by the Caribbean.

Joshua's House is a modern two bedroom two bathroom, full kitchen house with a fab deck, which has an extra double bed, overlooking the ocean.
I slept on the deck because I loved the ocean breeze.
The house has its own virtually private beach and piece of the Caribbean to swim in. We swam every day there, though there is serious coral close in, so one must be aware.
About a 12 minute amble to town, which we found ideal.
The view from the deck is amazing; 180 degrees of ocean, Tobago Cays, Mayreau, Palm (islands ), sailing ships, the odd larger ship, etc.,and the deck is a great place to read, doze, admire the view, read and doze some more. The deck, btw, is roofed and has jalosied doors on three sides, which one can open, close, or midway, depending on weather or activities.
The airport is only a few hundred feet away. There is very little activity there, nothing after daylight, and the largest plane that lands is an 18 seater. We were apprehensive, but there was no need.
My wife and I spent a month at Joshua's house and had a terrific time.
Even in paradise there can be glitches, and the crew at Erika's were there for us 100%.
If you look at the house while swimming in the ocean, it looks like something from Gauguin: yellow house, huge front deck with wooden jalosied doors all round, no other house in sight, and forested hills rising behind.
A caveat, Joshua's House is the last house on a small lane, with no immediate neighbour and as such, is somewhat isolated.
That didn't bother us, and we are an older couple, but might be a concern for some.
All in all, we had a truly wonderful month.
