this is our second year renting Sharlene Cottage. We bring seven grandchildren and have some sleeping on the floor. the kids range from 11 to 2. we have two older great grandmothers, 76 and 81. the walk from the cottage to the beach is practically nothing. it's perfect for keeping an eye on the kids because it's basically your private beach. we are definately coming back next year. one 8 year old cried for a half hour on the way home to leave his vacation with his cousins.
yes, the one bathroom is a drawback, but workable for just one week.
the only thing you really need that we didn't realize the first year are sand shoes. it's rocky for a bit before you get to the soft sand. this year we all had them and it was great. -

This cottage is super for a family with children. Virtually on the water and a clean, safe beach. We've been coming here for generations! I came as a toddler, and now I'm coming with my children and grandchildren. Karl is a great landlord to boot!

I've stayed at some very nice hotels and bed and breakfasts, but have never rented a cottage so, I was somewhat apprehensive about it. But I can say that I'm definitely glad I stayed at the Sharlene Cottage. From beginning to end, we had a wonderful experience. My extended family came from different states for a weekend getaway and to help celebrate my birthday. When I arrived at the cottage, I was so pleased with how beautifully decorated it was. I worried on my drive to the cottage about whether it would really be clean (I brought plenty of cleaning supplies just in case!). But, it was immaculately cleaned in addition to being beautifully appointed. I couldn't wait to walk the 100 feet or so to the beach and just feel the beautiful sea breeze. When my family arrived, we relaxed out on the porch and thought about using the great barbeque pit. But, with so many great restaurants in Clinton (including the Black Duck that was featured on Food Network Channel) and nearby Westbrook, we decided to eat out. During the day we took off from the cottage and rode our bikes and didn't have to worry about a lot of traffic. In the evening we rented movies and watched on the great flat screen TV. We also all appreciated the fully appointed kitchen. I can't think of anything that we disliked. It was a wonderful weekend getaway. It was like being on a secluded island with the convenience of grocery stores, restaurants, etc. only a mile or so away. We plan to return this year (and maybe rent two cottages). I would definitely recommend this vacation rental.

This cottage was very nicley decorated, with a great beach feel. Plenty of room for 8 people to sleep. Great back porch, and a well equipt kitchen. Only draw back was one bathroom. Would definetly rent again.

We absolutely loved our time at the Sharlene Cottage. Beautiful beach at our doorstep, immaculate large air conditioned cottage, and close to shopping. The nicest property owners. We definately plan to book again.
