Description from the owner
Step from your own private beachfront veranda directly onto a lovely velvet sand beach. This charming 2 bedroom apartment is located in a single story building consisting of 3 units side-by-side. The large private veranda is sure to be your favorite spot to relax with it's comfortable wicker seating area. It's the perfect place to put your feet up and read a good book, watch the sunset or enjoy breakfast in the dining area as you watch the sea change color from royal blue to turquoise as the sun rises higher in the sky. Though the whole apartment is quaint and comfortably appointed, we think you will agree that the veranda is the place yo...Read more

New York City, New YorkGreat relaxing family place on the beach
Left on 01/06/2013 for a stay in December 2012
We stayed for 2 weeks in Crabtree apartment nr 2. The booking process was very smooth and friendly - very promising. The apartment is the middle of 3 bungalows (attached) located right on the beach. The apartment is clean and nice, very comfortable beds and enough towels and bed linens. We were very lucky, as couple traveling with one son, 11 years, we had neighbors with kids his age all the time, so lots of playing together. In the apartment there was a guest book and a book with all kinds of tips and phone numbers. The island of Grand Turk is super nice, very small - easy to go around on bike, and friendly people everywhere. You have to be tolerant of dogs, as there are stray dogs (but all kind of belonging to a property) all over the place. Most of them are really sweet and highly appreciative of any food leftovers. All in all, we had a fabulous time and would highly recommend the Crabtree apartments!

33046Very clean, on the beach and close to everything!
Left on 03/25/2012 for a stay in March 2012
We stayed 5 nites in March. The apartment was very clean. Loved it! Irisa did a great job cleaning!! We also loved the fact that we had eggs, bread, butter and water in the fridge upon arrival, a nice touch!
The only 2 things we can say which needs improvements: 1:The shower water pressure in apt. #2 is terrible! This needs to be fixed asap! Yes, we realize there is a water shortage. It took forever to take a shower because there were hardly any water coming out of the shower head.
2: One of the purple bikes needs it's left pedal attached, it keeps coming off the bike...not good. The handle bar keeps moving down towards your body, needs to be tightened.
The beach was great and one could walk or bike to all the restaurants easily.
Do get your 75c/gal refill water just north of the Liquor store. Bike around the entire island. Take the backroads to the south tip and see the beaches and the few ripped-apart houses which have murals on them. Sure the 2008 hurricane aided in this. Sad but interesting to see.
Walk the west beach to the end on the north coast, and check the old car-part cemetary as part of the beach on the north, left of the light house. Noone on these beaches. It's close to the inlet. Check the east coast out and check the horse riding stables out on the beach on the east coast. Great little beach. Check out the Dominican Store on Pond St, very local. Bike to the light house and go down towards the right on the end...the coast line is great there, Interesting wave action. We saw manta rays swimming in the crystal clear water.
Don't miss the Sand Bar! Great views and good rum punch!
Eat at the Secret Garden. We even had a great experience at the Osprey.
Liked their garlic bread!
We flew to Salt Cay and the flight was the best part. 5 minutes of beautiful waters!
We just enjoyed the wild dogs -Pot cakes - on the beach, very friendly. We loved to see the wild Donkeys, cows and horses. The fact that they all rule the island traffic is amusing and great!
All and all a great trip!

31437Great apartment for diving vacation
Left on 03/16/2012 for a stay in February 2012
M y husband, myself and two friends enjoyed diving with Blue Water Divers in Grand Turk and staying at the beautiful and convenient Crabtree apartments. We were right on the beach and were picked up by our dive boat each day except the one day the water was too rough to allow the boat to get in to the beach. The apartment was well furnished even to a game of sequence we played most nights. The refrigerator was stocked with milk, butter, bread, juice and eggs so we had a start on our meals. We did find groceries within walking distance though. We loved Grand Turk!

Really comfortable, relaxing, and convenient choice on the beac
Left on 01/20/2012 for a stay in January 2012
My husband and I traveled with our 18 year old to Grand Turk to scuba dive. Crabtree apartments were perfect. We felt like it was our own home. Linens, beach and bath towels are provided. The washer and dryer are a plus. We stayed in the South Unit #1. which is the most private. We road the bikes,(several available in the shed), to and from Grand Turk Divers, but found it best to have a golf cart. We drove to the lighthouse, cruise ship terminal, grocery store, restaurants, and the bakery. The dogs at the apt are the best, they are well behaved and a pleasure to "hang around with" . We even adopted our own Potcake from Tcspca. We brought the tan little pup home to New Jersey with us no problem-she is a great addition to our family.
We received an email from the manager the night we returned home-she was asking how we enjoyed our stay. Wow what customer service! Our only complaint was our mattress was not the best (linens were fine) and management said they are going to look into that. I believe they will. Go to Crabtree and enjoy!!! -

First let me say that this is the type of vacation I have been looking for for quite a while.
The best think about Crabtree is that it is right on the beach and as others who have reviewed this have said, it is virtually a beach (a very clean one, too) all to yourself. I picked this because my partner and I love the beach and don't love alot of people around us when we are there. I couldn't believe there could be such a place in the world. Well, here it is. Now for those expecting a very touristy place...don't. Grand Turk is very non-touristy. There are a few restaurants around that are on the beach and on the same side as Crabtree but if you are looking for shopping and things like that, don't go here. Crabtree and Grand Turk, in my opinon, is for someone who wants to do nothing but eat, drink, swim, read, sleep, repeat!! The accommodations are beautiful and quaint. All kitchen supplies are there that you would need. If I had to mention any negative, that would be the bugs which are very much a part of tropical living. We came across a couple of big "water bugs" while we were there but if you didn't see those you wouldn't be in the tropics. We have visited the Caribbean a couple of times and this is just part of the trip. So if you absolutely hate bugs, stay home. But consider it as common as beach sand. Back to the accommodations...clean, comfortable and the people that assist you are very warm and friendly. Upon arrival, we were surprised to find a bottle of red wine to help us celebrate our anniversary which was the reason for the vacation. I must say that this was one of the most perfect locations I have ever had for a vacation. The bikes that were provided were very new and were very helpful to get around if you don't feel like renting a car or walking. It was a bit warm still when we were there so riding was easier. Having a phone to call for cabs (Jack Williams Cab was the best!!!) was very convenient. Overall, going to Crabtree was perfect for what we wanted. Again, if you need to be entertained, this is not the place for you. If you need total relaxation, I couldn't recommend a better place. -

The apt is as stated. Stay was stress free. The ocean is fabulous.
No problem getting there. I would rent a car and bring plenty of
cash as the island does not take credit cards very often. This
ranks at the top of all my vacations. The dogs are great and
GT Diving is the best. We will be back soon.

Brooklyn, New YorkRelaxing stay on a beautiful beach
Left on 05/08/2011 for a stay in May 2011
This was the first time my husband and I visited Grand Turk. We chose the island because the dive sites are known to be pristine and located within a 10 minute boat ride from the beaches. We were not disappointed with the diving, apartment, the location on the beautiful beach and the weather. There are amazing breezes that come through the living/kitchen area of the apartment with air conditioning in the bedrooms. Air would not be needed in the main living area since the breezes keep it cool. The veranda that sits beach front is wonderful. The wicker furniture is comfortable and the ocean views are stunning. The sunsets out front are beautiful. The island is very quiet and remote. There are only a few restaurants and the grocery stores are limited. But that was what we expected from an island that is not overly touristy. We went to Jack's Shack on the 3 afternoons that the cruise ships were in. The jerk chicken there was great and the beach is gorgeous. They are only open when the ships are in so plan accordingly. The bike ride there is easy too. Our favorite spot was Sand Bar. The grouper is amazing and the beers cold. The location on the beach cannot be beat. Bohio has the most romantic dinner spot and best food. The Salt Raker Inn's Secret Garden restaurant is really good too. We also enjoyed listening to Mitch Rolling and his band play at different spots throughout the week. Just ask around when you get to the island to figure out when and where the entertainment is. We also rode the bikes to the lighthouse one afternoon. It is a bit steep but if you are in shape it isn't too bad. The views there are stunning. Just walk past the lighthouse around to the cliffs.
We either walked or rode the bikes anywhere we needed to go. The only time we used a cab was to have dinner at Bohio since it is the furthest away. There is no need for a rental car.
The diving was great. We dove with Blue Water Divers. They picked us up by boat every morning at 9 at our beach. We then went to a close by beach for our surface intervals which was really relaxing. The water was a bit cool at 77. Fine for surface swimming but you do get cool when you are down for an hour. You will need a 3-7 mm suit and maybe a hood for this time of year. The reef is really healthy with lots of great life. We saw some reef sharks, nurse sharks, turtles, tons of smaller sea life that was really interesting. The highlight was definitely running into 3 dolphins at about 30 feet that swam around us and played for several minutes before moving on. It was surreal.
The island has several wild donkeys, horses and dogs. The dogs are very friendly and the three that live outside Crabtree are really sweet. They don’t come on the veranda unless invited. We purchased some dog food and fed them daily. This made us instant friends and they followed us everywhere. The island is very dog friendly so the dogs were welcome at all the restaurants since they are outdoors. We were sad to leave the dogs but know they’ll be taken care of.
Crabtree is a great place to stay. I highly recommend it. The island is quiet and remote. So if that is your intentions you will not be disappointed. -

Ipswich, MassachusettsCrabtree apartments is a great value.
Left on 04/30/2011 for a stay in April 2011
My wife and I just spent a week diving and beaching on Grand Turk while staying at Crabtree apartments. The 3 unit building is located directly on the beach and is within walking distance of town. Our unit was spacious, and very clean. It had 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, kitchen, t.v.'s, verandah, wifi, bikes, beach chairs, beach towels, sheets, and a cell phone for local calls. The Janes have paid attention to all the details. They arranged for a taxi to pick us up at the airport, and had cereal boxes, milk, coffee, soap, and shampoo in the unit to cover us until we could go shopping.
I dove with Grand Turk Diving,, which is a short walk down the beach. They were excellent and I highly recommend them if you are diving or snorkeling.
I don't think you can beat the value Crabtree apartments has to offer if you're looking for top notch accommodations while diving or hanging out on the beach. -

Vancouver, CanadaAmazing cottage style apartment in paradise
Left on 04/15/2011 for a stay in March 2011
Hidden away in the Caribbean is a cluster of islands called Turks & Caicos, Grand Turk is where the capital is, but this laid back island does not feel like a capital. The Crabtree apartments that we stayed at were situated on an amazing beach, with a nice patio you could step off of into soft white sand. Snorkel from your beach, or walk into town for lunch or dinner. The place was clean, came with everything you needed, including 2 bicycles to explore the island. The owners provided a great summary of things to do, see, amenities, and recommendations, and even made sure we had basic groceries in the fridge when we arrived. They were very prompt in responses to questions or needs we had both before we arrived and during our stay. Highly recommend Crabtree apartments, although I am not sure I want everyone to know about our new secret paradise.

Peaceful paradise
Left on 10/08/2010 for a stay in March 2010
If you are looking for a peaceful, relaxing holiday on an idyllic island with lovely uncrowded beaches, clear turquoise water, great snorkelling (and diving) and friendly people than head for Grand Turk.
If you are debating where to stay, put the Crabtree apartments at the top of your list.
My husband and I just returned from our 3rd visit to Grand Turk and our first stay at the Crabtree and couldn't have been more pleased. Our unit was very clean, well equipped, private and steps from a lovely little beach.
We have no doubt we will return for a 4th visit and another relaxing stay at the Crabtree. Highly recommended!Response from Leslie Janes of Crabtree Apartments - 10/15/2010

Left on 02/23/2010 for a stay in February 2010
My 15 year old son and I spent a week in Feb, 2010 at the Crabtree Apartments in Grand Turk. The apartment was spotless, comfortable, quiet and was within walking distance to restaurants. The owners could not have made the booking process any easier, even arranging a taxi to meet our flight. Also, you were provided with "start up groceries"..eggs, milk, OJ, bread, coffee upon arrival.
The apartment had 2 bedrooms and is a stone's throw from the ocean. Outdoor porch is perfect place for a.m. coffee or sunset drinks!
I highly recommend the Crabtree Apartments for a relaxing time..it's a "sure bet"!
