      Properly chilled out.

Left on 08/22/2012 for a stay in July 2012

This was our best holiday ever. It's relaxed, rustic and Fran's tapped into the local expat community, who are well worth getting to know. There are wonderful river beaches nearby, the food is good and the booze is cheap.

      Wonderfully relaxing

Left on 07/18/2012 for a stay in June 2012

I loved everything about this holiday. If you are looking for time out of life this is where you need to be.

Fran (the owner) gave us a warm welcome as we arrived late at night. The next morning we were able to appreciate the beautiful property. Each of the rooms are individually furnished to a high standard.

We stayed on a self-catering basis - stocking up the fully equiped kitchen, from the supermarket in arganil (10 minute drive) we were able to sit back and relax over long lunches in the outside dining area. A 20 minute walk to the bakery, allowed you to enjoy the mouthwatering breads and pastries for breakfast without guilt! There is restaurant in the village offering great food and service and excellent value! When we weren't eating we were generally lounging by the secluded pool

Fran was a perfect host making us feel like very special guest as she welcomed us to her home, and being on hand to offer us local information and restaurant recommendations. We both had 'treatments' (reflexology and facial at the hands of Fran) and went to a yoga session at a nearby venue.

I would definately recommend Quinta da alergia, if you are wanting a holiday away from everbody else; it was a perfect getaway for a peaceful, relaxing break and hope to go back soon.

      Thank you Fran x

      The definition of relaxation !!

Left on 04/25/2012 for a stay in September 2010

This Beautiful house set in norther portugal is fantastic, quiet but only a short drive away from the beach or the city.
The house and rooms were amazing and very clean and individual - we didn't want to leave!!!
The outside kitchen and honesty bar were just fab!
The village the house is set in has its own restarant just a short walk away less than 5 mins.
we have stayed 3 times and would go back every year if we could either for a short break or our ususal 10 days.
The owner also offers holistic therapy treatments as well which add to the tranquil and relaxation of the holiday. The times we have been out to Quinta Dal alegria have been the most relaxing of my life i would recommend. relaxing by the pool or sitting uder the barn in the shade with a good book,
Or if you are my husband out in his Landrover using lots of the green lanes, This accomodation has it all and is highly reccomended by us you should definiatly give it a go !.
The owner welcomes you in to her home and you are made to feel so welcome... but dont just take my word for it... go try it!

      Sheer relaxation. peaceful and pampered

Left on 04/15/2012 for a stay in April 2012

We stayed at this beautiful converted farmhouse in april 2012 and throughly enjoyed it. Fran (the owner) is a great host and even has a therapy room where you can have that well deserved massage, facial, indian head massage and reflexology (which I would definately recommend after a day sight seeing). And all at very reasonabe prices as well.

All the 5 rooms have so much character and charm, are en-suite with your own terrace or balcony and face the decent size pool. A hairdryer, torch and travel plug are even provided together with toiletries. It was so peaceful and a real home from home with the use of an outdoor fully equipped kitchen - which is a god send to store your wine and cheese in the fridge for that mid day snack!
We stayed on a B & B basis and the breakfast was continental with so much variety. Although you could buy your own food and cook it in the outdoor kitchen if you wanted.

There is a open terrace to catch some rays, and a covered terrace where we enjoyed breakfast and there is an honesty bar area with comfy cane furniture to relax in and take the local vino (at 2 euros a bottle, it's rude not to!!)
I travelled with a friend and we thoroughly enjoyed the rest and relaxation - especially the treatments.
Flights to Porto are so reasonable, and together with the car hire (which is a must) as there is so much to explore (if you want to), it actually worked out cheaper than a spa break in England - plus you get the sunshine, great food and good wine as well.

I would recommend this place for everyone, and I am sure you will be given a warm welcome from Fran. We are going back in June and we can't wait!

      What a wonderful break

Left on 04/14/2012 for a stay in July 2011

We stayed in this bed and breakfast following a recommendation from friends who had stayed the previous year and we were not disappointed.
The accommodation was wonderful, very rustic with exposed brickwork. the rooms were very clean and spacious with all the amenities listed.
The host was particularly helpful and nothing was too much trouble.
The breakfast is continental in style and most of the foods are locally produced and therefore very fresh.
The pool is large for this type of property and very welcome in the height of summer.
The restaurant in the village is delightful and only a few minutes walk away, a must when staying here.
A car is recommended as the surrounding area is quite beautiful. The drive from the airport takes roughly 1 3/4 hours but is such an easy drive to make.
I would definitely recommend this property to others, we are already booked in for this year.
