I greatly value the service the Mackay's agency provides all their customers, I can find no fault at all whenever I have booked a holiday property from them.
The holiday cottage in Colintraive, Argyll, was excellent, a child friendly house and an enclosed garden where children were safe to play and enjoy.
The cottage was in a great location with the pebble beach on its doorstep.
Colintraive is a lovely spot to relax and enjoy the countryside, with a great hotel and shop just minutes away.
I found that my family all enjoyed themselves, and I enjoyed the quality time spent with my family. -

A bit of a remote location and well away from shops etc and only one hotel almost a mile away. But that is exactly what we want to find in Scotland.
A very comfortable cottage, good heating and a wood burning stave thown in as well. Even had four bicycles available for use at no extra cost.
The cottage enjoys a very sheltered position and virtually faces south so we enjoyed quite a few days just sitting outside in the small garden.
The sea at high tide is only 15 meters or so from your front door.
We will definitely return at some future date.

Saw dolphins from the window. The rooms are cozy, beds comfortable. Kitchen well set-up. All around a wonderful house for a family or small group of travelers. Will recommend to friends and family.
We did not take the ferry (Gourock-Dunoon) and according to google maps, wouldn't have saved us that much time by taking the ferry. We went North from Glasgow along Loch Lomond to the tip of the inlet, over, and back down again. It's a beautiful drive anyway. Have fun :)

Comfy cottage, a little worn at the edges but we didn't mind that. Had problems with the heating but help was on hand. Unfortunatly no starter fuel for fire and none available close by unless we wanted to pay the hotel £30 for a small bag!
But the views and surrounding scenery made up for these little things. Look forward to bringing our grandchildren here. -

ElginBest Family Holiday in Great Location
Left on 08/25/2011 for a stay in July 2011
A lovely cottage in the most stunning location, away from it all but near enough to amenities if needed. Whilst the cottage could use a bit of TLC and a thorough spring clean, the area & incredible views more than made up for it. Our kids had the best time, playing with the local children - all day, every day! And we were lucky enough to be blessed with superb summer weather for the entire week. Would be helpful if information on the boats available were clearly stated in cottage details. Recommend the community garden in Colintraive plus a trip to Bute and Inverary are a must. Great location with the most superb, if a little scary, twisty single track roads!!

A bit disappointed by the location of the property. The 'brochure' indicates that the house is isolated- turns out that the house is in a group of 10 or so other houses in an isolated 'village'. We normally go for houses where they are far away from others. Always feel a bit awkward setting up a telescope, or using binoculars at night for 'stargazing' when there are houses in the vicinity. Was also disappointed by the cleanliness and the lack of some cutlery and crockery. The cutlery needed a thorough wash before use. Some useful items such as large serving spoons were missing. Washing machine was a useful addition though.
The house was otherwise very clean and tidy. It is well laid out- we were 2 couples staying and it allowed us to have our own 'private' areas as there were sleeping and bathing facilities both upstairs and down. Plenty of towels and bedlinen were available.
Even though there was a few people around the location, the locals seemed friendly, it was very peaceful and the scenery was great. Not a lot of 'facilities' in the local area which suited us fine, we got our supplies in passing whilst out and about.
The location is in an area where there is plenty to see and do; good long walks across the beautiful landscape, beaches, forests and mountains. Plenty of local wildlife. Also, the use of the bicycles from the house was greatly appreciated. . The Island of Bute is almost a stones throw away- great for a day out.
We've been to this area on several occasions previously and we always find something new to see. I would recommend this property to people who want some peace and quiet, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and who do not want a multitude of shops on your doorstep. -

Left on 10/24/2010 for a stay in July 2010
Breath taking views with friendly neighbours, the house is nice but in need of a little bit of money spent on it. Garden was nice but previous tennants had left their dog mess everywhere so the children could not play. cleanliness of kitchen and utensils was poor and the house guide stated to leave things tidy but we had to fix the hoover so we could clean! on a more positive note the owner had a range of bikes and a small boat for occupiers use which was fantastic, also there was alot of tourist info and local amenity list which was great.

This cottage was a real retreat with magnificent views across to Bute, it was so relaxing to sit in the garden and watch the boats going up and down the Kyle of Bute. An added bonus was that we have three dogs and booking a cottage can be problematic but not in this case. Plenty of lovely walks and scenery outstanding. Cottage is cosy, and clean. I took my 90 year old mum who used the downstairs bedroom which was ideal as she didn't have to negotiate stairs and had her own downstairs bathroom, whilst I had the use of the upstairs bedroom and bathroom, this worked well for us.
