Villa Ester is a gracious 120-square-meter (about 1292 square feet) villa which sleeps five people. It has a terrace and a garden overlooking the sea. The villa is 5 km (about 3 miles) away from Positano and Sorrento .
There is a double bedroom, a twin bedroom, two bathrooms with shower, a den with a divan bed, and a living-room with a kitchenette. All the rooms have a splendid view of the seascape and the Li Galli islands .
Villa Ester is built on the edge of a crag by the sea. It is a white little house surrounded by lush Mediterranean vegetation. It seems to be suspended between the blue of the sea and the sky.
When you arrive on the terrace, you will have the sea, the sky, and the sun before you. And it is right in front of you, in the sea, that your eyes will meet the famous small islands called Li Galli . Mythology tells us that the islands were inhabited by Sirens who tried to entice Ulysses and keep him in the surroundings.
It won't be hard to believe such myth as you will be able to admire with your own eyes the extraordinary beauty of this coast. The sea surrounding the Li Galli islands is a protected Marine Area, destination of scuba-divers due to its beautiful seabed.
At Villa Ester nothing but the green of a short expanse of coast will be placed between you and the sea. The area consists of a steep cliff where small pull-off areas, adorned by olive trees which gradually decrease in size as closer to the sea, have been incredibly built here and there. The last stretch of land is actually a rocky wall which seems to plunge vertically into the sea.
On the terrace and by looking towards the horizon, you will see the island of Capri and its famous Faraglioni (stacks – vertical columns of rock in the sea near the coast) on one side and the picturesque coast where the towns of Positano and Praiano are nestled.
At Villa Ester, you will have the sea "at your door". You will be able to feel the scent of the sea and hear it, but not go for a swim in such area. The closest beach is only three km (about 1.9 miles) away, and 1 km (0.6 mile) away is the public swimming pool.
Villa Ester is built at the end of a private little road which leads to three or four houses spread out on the green of the surroundings. Once you have parked your car, you will have to walk for a few feet on a pathway and descend a 14-step staircase to reach the house.
In front of the entrance there is a small paved garden embellished by flowers.
The house, built as if dug in the rock, has two floors. On the upper floor, you will find the living area, which consists of the living-room, the kitchenette, a bathroom, and a large terrace, 70 square meters (753.5 square feet) large. A staircase leads to the lower floor, where you will find the two bedrooms, the den with the divan bed, and the second bathroom. In front of the bedrooms, there is also a long terrace overlooking the sea which is shaded by an olive tree. The den is a passageway to the bedrooms. There is a double bedroom and a twin bedroom. Both have a window which overlooks the seascape.
In the living-room, you will find a fire place, two divan couches, an armchair, a big dining table, a television, a VCR, and a piano. The piano may be used by those who know how to play it and only upon request.
The kitchenette is separated from the living-room by a masonry wall. It is equipped with a four-burner stove, an oven, and a fridge with a freezer.
The furnishings are complete and cozy.
From the living-room, you can descend to a large terrace with a view to the sea. The terrace is shaded by a pergola under which you will find a table with chairs and sun loungers.
The terrace will be your favorite place to have breakfast outdoors during the fresh early hours of the morning: surrounded by peacefulness and tranquility, you will be able to feel the perfume of the flowers and Mediterranean herbs which rise in the air as the sun warms the earth and the blue of the sea and the sky becomes even more vivid and dazzling.
The terrace will also be your favorite place to have dinner outdoors, under the starry sky and its moon reflecting in the sea.

We were three of us staying a week at Villa Esther in Colli di Fontanelle. First, the little town of Colli Di Fontanelle is simply charming, with all the folks very friendly and helpful. Now the stay at the villa. The place is tastefully furnished and extremely clean. The owner was always helpful and accommodating. (He stays on the villa grounds most of the time, but is not at all intrusive). We had no car and took advantage of the mini bus that took us into Piano di Sorrento, where we would catch the Circumvesuviano train to get to Sorrento and Naples.
The villa is located on a very steep hill overlooking the Mediterranean. I must admit, the walk up the hill to get to the main road was a challenge, but then none of us is very young anymore, and, in the end, it didn't matter. We had a wonderful time and I highly recommend renting the villa, and, of course using Summer in Italy as your agent. For us this was the third time that I used Summer in Italy, and have never been disappointed.

Views to Die For!!
Left on 06/17/2009 for a stay in October 2006 | Gayle & Larry
Our stay at Villa Ester was one of our most memorable visits to Italy - and we have have made many trips and rented a number of villas there!
The views of the Mediterrean from the two large balconys are simply spectacular! We spent hours gazing at the sea from these unforgettable vantage points, surrounded by flowering bouganvillas, herbs and other colorful plants. The villa itself is so peaceful and so very Italian in its furnishings. We felt that we were truly living the real experience. There are two lovely bedrooms and two full baths in this multilevel house; a dining room table that we filled every night with plates of pasta, bruschetta, capresse, antipasti, pecorino - we brought fresh produce every morning from the neighboring village. Oh, and did I mention the wonderful vin locale from the local alimentari? In a word this experience was heavenly!!! The owner is a very nice man who teaches English to students in Amalfi. The caretakers are a gracious older couple who lived nearby and looked after us. We hope to return to this magical place.
