It was took me a long time to write a good review for La Villa Sanctuary. This place is absolutely stunning. Beautiful place with good hospitality from staffs. We did so much enjoyed our 3 days in here. . Private villa with 2 bedrooms, private pool, clean and comfortable bed.. Excellent.. Definitely return.

We stayed three nights and absolutely loved this place. The staff were fabulous - they attended to everything in detail and the dinners were the best we had eaten in 3 weeks in Sri Lanka. The house was beautiful, luxurious and comfortable. Can highly recommend La Villa Sanctuary.

What can I Say? We loved everything about this home, from the design to the owner to anthony and Roger who take care of you while on the property.. It's all wonderful. The pool is relaxing, the bed and everything about this place is top notch... There is just no need to stay anywhere else while in Colombo. You really feel at home and at ease! I would recommend this amazing place to everyone! Hasib is as sweet as can be and anthony the manager of the home is just amazing.. He was so wonderful and helpful, I feel like I have a new friend.. I will be returning here time and time again!!!

I stayed with my girlfriend, mother and sister at this residence. The location of the property is next to where the Sri Lankan parliament is located and only a short 20 minute drive into the heart of Colombo (traffic permitting).
La Villa Sanctuary is a magnificent property and definitely a wise choice to stay if visiting Colombo. It's proximity to the city and the lavish setting it offers supersedes even the most plush hotels that Colombo has to offer.
With a full time chef (Anthony) and a full time housekeeper (Raja), what more could you ask for? Anthony can cook any meal you desire, due to our Sri Lankan heritage, we stuck to purely local cuisine. However, western food can be prepared by anthony. Raja was fantastic and had a sixth sense in ensuring all of my families needs were met.
I will be definitely staying here again upon my return to Colombo, and would definitely highly recommend this property to anyone travelling to Colombo. -

I stayed there with my wife for 3 days and had a great second honeymoon. In complete silence away from the traffic we enjoyed a relaxing vacation with no complains.

Our group of four went there to take a break and found this property on Tripadvisor. It took us a good two hours to get there from the airport, through peak traffic. That was the only downside. Then again, this trip is done only twice...when you land and when you leave.
Back to La Villa. There was something about the energy of the place as soon as we walked in. Then there was this brilliant light that greeted us. It was anthony's smile. Located right next to marsh (amazing monitor lizards and birds could be sighted), we couldn't hear the traffic and hence, absolutely peaceful. At night we heard crickets and saw fireflies. Brought back childhood memories. A bunch of 30-40 year olds turned into kids.
The property is so well lit during the day and large glass doors ensure superb ventilation. The bathroom is the master bedroom had a slatted window into the bathroom. If you are sharing this room with someone, this could be a problem.
The highlight of this property is anthony. He has hospitality running through his veins. Ever so thoughtful and has a constant smile on his face. He knew all the places around and was a good resource for information about the city. Since we said we would like to try out the local cuisine, he got us the best from various sources.
What floored us was the popcorn that we went and got us, in the rain, on a bike. And we hadn't even asked for it. I am definitely going back there. Felt at home. So at home. -

We've just stayed a couple of days at La Villa Sanctuary in Colombo for a wedding of our friend and we really love this place. The villa is a proper villa with huge living room, terrace outside and beautiful designed bathrooms and bedrooms. We stayed here with six people and they brought in two extra beds. We could decide what time have breakfast, lunch or dinner. Anthony the caretaker was always present to arrange transportation or any thing else we needed. The only downside was that they cleaned the pool with too much chlorine. So we were not tempted to take a dip. Nevertheless we highly recommend this place.

We stayed for our last two nights in The Sanctuary and got everything we needed. 25 minutes with the Tuc Tuc to the "Center". Anthony cooked us lovely Curry's! The house was clean and the big room - luxury!

We were looking for a place to make a stop-over after landing in Colombo and recharge batteries before heading to south coast, and this villa was just the perfect place for that. The villa is just amazing. Rooms are great, living room very spacious, the outside dining nearby the swimming pool fantastic. Anthony and the folks were great hosts, extremely attentious and friendly, and on top of that they cook great! we loved the curry, the daal, the vegetable roti and other sri lankan delicacies (but they'll cook whatever you ask). In a nutshell - fabulous.

We were a little apprehensive getting to La Villa, but as soon as we entered we realised we were soo wrong. Hid in the forest area yet not very far from the city (which is what we wanted) this Villa is a dream come true. My husband and i being architects loved the place at once!! minimalistic yet luxurious and at the same time traditional with its epoxy flooring and wooden plank roofs!
The service was impeccable! they were always there for us! Anthony is the sweetest person ever!!!and kinsley is soo cute!!always smiling!! ;) Anthony cooked the best dishes for us, which was the highlight of our stay in sri lanka!!And was sweet to help us around colombo too! really was at the back of our hand thanks to anthony!
The best part of the villa is the master bathroom!!! its awesome!! and the citronella oil diffuse all over the place, and the little waterfall in the house and the pond, and the pool! its hard to point out a flaw...;) thanks Hasib, Anthony, Kinsley!!! -

This was our first time in Sri Lanka so we didn't know what to expect. All we can say that its amazing. The La Villa sanctuary was better then advertised. Its like staying in a five star hotel all to yourself. The butler and chef on sight were also very accommodating. My children have been all around the world but they said Sri Lanka has to be one of the top 5 places they have visited. I think a lot of that had to do with the accommodation and the hospitality of the people. Do not miss out on this gem of the world.

We stayed at La Villa for 3 days in Dec 2011. (And also asked the resident chef anthony to prepare most of our meals.) The owner of the place, Hasib, welcomed us himself, and as we entered, my husband and I exchanged a congratulatory glance - the place is all the website describes it to be and a lot more besides! Its done up beautifully and its really really spacious. I especially liked the fact that the huge halls and the study upstairs were also at our disposal. Our room and bathroom were done up in impeccable taste, and had all the usual linen (clean!), fittings and toiletries. The room has a full-glass wall that overlooks the bird sanctuary next-door, and waking up to that view was a treat. We had citronella oil lamps lit in the room at night and so there was no mosquito-problem at all. The room opens on to a spacious veranda where you can hang out. The bathroom is big and fitted with a jacuzzi.
The place is about an hours' drive from the international airport, but well worth it. For buying everyday stuff, getting your laundry done, etc, you can take anthony's help - he is really obliging and proactive. Hasib will also arrange a car for you. (though we didn't use this service). Anthony will cook whatever you ask for, provided of course that you give him a little notice. He did a really good job for us - especially at the lunch we had the day we reached and the dinner on the next day! Portions are generous and very tasty, so if you're watching your weight, watch out!
One outing very close at hand is the bird sanctuary next door. Even from the verandah, we spotted at least 8 beautiful species of birds. The highlight was a huge water-monitor that went past - my daughter was thoroughly excited. After a moment of awe, that is!
Overall, we had a very hassle-free, relaxing time, and I'm glad I chose this place. I unreservedly recommending it for everyone who visits Colombo and surrounding areas - if you're planning your honey-moon, its absolutely the place for you! -

La Villa Sanctuary is a peaceful haven hidden away amongst the chaos of Colombo. The villa is luxurious and well designed, and the facilities are excellent. The property is amidst lush vegetation and a variety of bird and animal life will entertain you during your stay. Anthony, the manager and chef is superb, he will prepare you delicious meals of your choice, and nothing is too much trouble for him, he even guided us through Colombo to the road we needed for our journey to Kandy. All in all, a very enjoyable and tranquil stay.

A great house only 20 minutes from the city.
We spent two nights at La Villa Sanctuary, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there.
The house only has two rooms which ensures that your stay will be quiet and private. Our room was well furnished and nicely appointed.
The service from anthony, the butler, was exceptional. Always happy to see you and eager to assist. We were particularly impressed with his, and the chef's, breakfast; either western or Sri Lankan were both lovely.
We would definetly stay here again. -

I have stayed at this wonderful villa many times. The attentiveness of the owner to the service offered is extremely commendable. The bedrooms and the villa is well equipped with all modern luxuries and tastefully furnished. the resident chef/manager is well-trained and the personalized service offered is on par with the top end boutique hotels.

We only stayed in the villa for one night, and we were regretting the decision. We should have stayed longer..!!!
The rooms are spacious, the bed is awesome, furnishing is tasteful, location is serene. What else can i say. We stayed in the master suite. (theres a jacuzzi in the bathroom..!!!)
Antony, the chef, made some really awesome roasted chicken salad and a good english breakfast in the morning.
I would want to thank Hasib, for the impromptu night tour of colombo. It was a very sweet gesture and says a lot about the Sri Lankan people in general.
Hasib - my offer stands good. If you are ever in Bangalore - I would be glad to take you around.
Would absolutely recommend the place to any one travelling to Colombo. Will definitely return, with friends, and stay longer.

It's really a lovely place. You wouldn't feel u r in the city clean air with a nice view. The owner is v.kind person. The manager is one of his kind the best. everything u want is done in a peaceful way starting from the best juice best cooked food best cleaning best organizing really not a single mistake. At nighttime, he lights candles that heat that special marvelous fragrance to keep the mosquito away but keeps u near. We search to buy a one like it (its really expensive) The Jacuzzi ohhh we love it u can sit in and enjoy the view from the window inside the bath or out side the rooms decorations are luxury. Air-conditioned which is a must sometimes in Colombo.

We stayed at the villa on the last day of our visit to Sri Lanka. We didn't get too much time to stay there but would have loved to stay more. The villa is very tastefully furnished. Not too much...not too little. Antony, the chef at the villa is an awesome cook. we had some chicken salad for lunch. Nice and light.
The day was allotted for shopping and we were to have dinner can get back to the villa. Well, didnt get time to eat, busy shopping. When we got back to the villa, Antony actually was willing to make us some soup and stuff. We just asked him me make some french fries, and he did that. He even went out and got us a couple of beers from somewhere outside coz we felt like it...!!! :D
a special thanks to Hasib, the owner. He took the trouble of picking us up from our shopping expedition. More over, since we had not had the time to see Colombo, he took us around the city at 10 in the night for a impromptu tour..!!! Thank you sooo much for that. Our offer holds good. Any time in Bangalore, we will take you around. :)
We will definitely return to this place and we will come with friends this time and stay for longer..!!!

Just back from a trip to Sri Lanka, and resided with you guys in La Villa Sanctuary. Congragulations on your grand opening and it has been an absolute pleasure and experience residing at your hotel.
The many luxuries and activities that La Villa Sanctuary has to offer has been of exceptional quality and excitement limited onl...y to the tenants imagination, being able to cater to many types of events. Waking up above the canopy overlooking the bird sanctuary in the early morning with its tranquility has been a memorable moment.
The chef and butler has also been very attentive to our needs and requests.
Another convenice we liked about your hotel was the closeness to the city La Villa was. The drive past the parliment house, a cricket field, a lake and your pretty much in the city.
The wild life spoting in the outdoor area has been added excitement for our trip, we managed to catch eagles diving and water monitor lizards only meters away from us. Sadly we did not managed to see the water buffalows but we did see a large variety of birds and insects. On a definate revisit, would love to go through that tracking path to have a better experience of the wild life.
To top it of, by comparison to other hotels, this boutique hotel has so much more to offer at great value for money. Total privacy was also an added plus to the residence.
Over all an amazing! experience that it was even sometimes hard to get going out of the hotel to visit other destinations! Thank you for that wonderful experience! All the best and hope to visit again sometime soon.
