10 minutes from the new Parliament in Sri Jayawardene Pura - Kotte, the Exotica is located behind the MP's hostel on Obewatte Road, nestled at the top of the hill that is GreenField Park. Located in a cul-de-sac, it offers maximum security not only from human elements but those from nature as well.

My family just spent a week in this lovely villa, with excellent facilities and very helpful owners who live right next door. Two bedrooms are excellent, with cold aircon and comfortable beds. The third bedroom is small with bunk beds, which would suit children, not adults. Overall the villa is stylish and comfortable, located in a leafy suburb of Colombo near the Parliament building. Local taxis take half an hour to the Fort area of Colombo for shopping and eating out. Overall it was a very enjoyable experience, apart from the humidity!

I have traveled to and trough Colombo many times over the last five years. Like most capital cities, prices are inflated and friendliness is measured by the gratuity one is willing to pay. However, my recent visit to Colombo and my stay at Serendipity was... a very pleasant surprise. My group of four arrived at the airport in Colombo at different times, however, Mr. Rajaratnam had reliable transport waiting to greet us. This was no small feat as our arrivals were often at 04:00!
Upon arrival at the Serendipity, we were greeted by Mr. Rajaratnam and given the tour. The courtyard was nicely groomed and the rooms very tastefully decorated. We were all delighted with our accommodations. The rooms spoke of a by gone era, yet radiated the graciousness of our host and and his staff. The rooms were spacious and well appointed. The queen size "canopy" beds were beautiful, although a bit hard for my taste. Each was fitted with high quality linen as was the private baths. Rooms feature ceiling fans and aC, as well as reading, writing and dressing areas. Wifi is available on the property and proved reliable, though slow at times.
The property offers several lounging areas for meetings and relaxing with friends as well as a private kitchen. The courtyard provides a wonderful covered veranda for outdoor dining and fellowship. A key feature (for me) was a delightful bench swing which remains today only because I could not fit it into my suitcase!
Too much cannot be said about security. Mr. Rajaratnam is very conscientious about his property and guest. Living adjacent to the property he is available and keeps a secure lot. The property itself has garaged parking and is enclosed by an outer wall which transports one fromt he bustle of the city into the bliss of soft breezes and lingering evenings.
I highly recommend Serendipity at The Exotica near Colombo in Kotte for the night, the week or even longer. This is a family friendly environment that is sure to delight.

Serendipity Villa exotica is the place.This is a quiet locality.If you are used to space you would certainly feel home here. A huge garden inside the home , open to the sky lots of natural sunlight...The bathrooms are comfortable, shower pressure is very good.We really enjoyed our stay and would like to re visit once we are back in Srilanka. -

I am a seasoned traveller and have stayed in a 2-Star thro' to 7-Star lodges. The uniqueness of my stay at Exotica is the promptness of service. It is a most tidy atmosphere as the bed linnings, towels are sparkling. From the bedrooms, bathrooms thro' the lounge to the lawns are all very clean and well looked after.
The location of Exotica is also an asset. It is close to most outlets in town, be it shopping or dine out.It's money's worth. Keep the good work, which ofcourse is customer satisfaction. Bravo .Response from Vasantha Rajaratnam - 07/25/2012

Serendipity stands on a hill and a gentle breeze passing through brings into the room the freshness of the tropical monsoon lands, the languor of the earth, the bewitching breath of the Eastern earths first embrace of the rain showers. Call it nostalgia or simply meandering the wonderful alleys down life's memory lanes, Serendipity dissolves the two in a stream of harmonious influence. Old school settings in present day comfort. You don't get greeted by a front lobby manager or a constantly hovering guest relations hostess but then you suddenly remind yourself the entire abode is yours for the duration with the privacy at a price quite difficult to imagine. Forget a hotel, take a vacation in a house which can be home without the complications.
