Description from the owner

We are so happy to share our charming little home built in 1904 in the heart of downtown Colorado Springs. It has been completely restored with all the modern-day amenities but retains old-world charm with its high ceilings, original woodwork and crown molding. We have tastefully furnished the house and included everything that anyone could need to feel right at home. The beautiful new kitchen is fully equipped and stocked with spices, basic food items, and condiments. Gorgeous hard-wood floors throughout make for a very clean environment.

The property includes a detached two-car garage which is accessed from the alley with walkout int...Read more

    Additional Location Information

We are located in a lovely, quiet, established neighborhood just 7 blocks east of the downtown area. Walk to your choice of outside cafes, many fine dining establishments, museums, parks, charming boutiques, nightclubs, the Penrose Library, the Fine Art Center, and the Pikes Peak Center. The Little Market & Deli, Colorado Springs' oldest grocery store, is just three blocks from the house. Family owned since 1902, it carries a full line of groceries in addition to a deli counter. Raven's Nest Coffee House is also just three blocks away, featuring live music and original art work. If you haven't already noticed, this truly is a charming neighborhood.

From our home, you will be in the center of everything. Enjoy hiking, bicycling, fishing, and exploring local history. You will also have quick and easy access to I-25 and can be in Denver in no more than an hour for any sporting event or concert. There are many special events that take place downtown (arts & cultural events, community festivals, concerts, farmers markets), and the nicest part is that you can just walk right over without worrying about finding a parking space. There are many wonderful restaurants, and we would be happy to share our favorites. After a day of work or play, relax in your home-away-from home. Curl up with a good book or watch some of the best television programming available.

We are less than a mile to the US Olympic Training Center and Memorial Hospital, 1 mile from Colorado College, and 9 blocks from Memorial Park and Prospect Lake where you can enjoy the Labor Day Hot Air Balloon Festival and the city's Fourth of July fireworks celebration. Time wise, we are 7 minutes from Old Colorado Historic District; 10 minutes from the famous 5-star Broadmoor Hotel and the World Arena; 15 minutes from Colorado Springs Airport, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Garden of the Gods, and Seven Falls; 20 minutes from Cave of the Winds, Manitou Springs, and US Air Force Academy; 45 minutes from the Royal Gorge; one hour from Cripple Creek; and one hour from Denver, with quick and easy access to I-25.

For hikers, runners and bicyclists, Shooks Run Trail is just 2 blocks west of our house and connects to the Pikes Peak Greenway. If you plan to bring bicycles, you will definitely be in the right spot. With a two-car garage, there is plenty of space for storing those bikes. If it's walking you enjoy, Shooks Run Trail winds through the beautiful, tranquil Shooks Run Park just blocks from the house.

      Home in the City

Left on 10/08/2012 for a stay in September 2012

We have just returned from our second stay at what we call our "Home in Colorado Springs". It feels just that way from the moment we step in the door. Eveything is clean and breakfast for the next morning is waiting in the kitchen. I have looked at other places but have and will continue to choose this home. The location is within walking distance of downtown which means parks, local eateries, stores and scenic walks. The access to attractions a little farther out is great you are near but a world away from major roadways.
We have enjoyed many backyard barbecues when we have stayed here. This is an added feature when you're on vacation to be able to sit in a lovely backyard with family and barbecue.
Thanks Sheryl and we will be visiting you again.

The Courtiers have done everything possible to make this house your home away from home. I have stayed in several vacation houses and condos over the years which were well furnished. This house is so well furnished that you won't have to buy anything except food. Spices, condiments, sandwich bags, paper towels, laundry detergent, dryer sheets and everything else you will need is provided.
All in all, you can't go wrong with this vacation house.

      Fantantic!!!

Left on 09/11/2012 for a stay in September 2012

Yes, that's right - Fantastic is how to describe this lovely, very clean cottage. My friend and I wanted to attend the 2012 Hot air Balloon Classic and this cottage was more than comfortable, with a 2 car garage and a great backyard for your private BBQ and conversation. Sherly provides everything from spices to laundry soap and what a surprise to open the refrigerator and see all the ingredients for a complete breakfast. We are coffee nuts and to find fresh coffee beans with grinder was above and beyond. This cottage is centrally located to all the great things to see and do in Colorado Springs. Thank you for being so responsive and wonderful to work with. The cottage comes highly recommended. Linda and Barbara

a true home away from home

Left on 09/07/2012 for a stay in August 2012

We stayed in the vacation home during late august for the whole week. We had a such a great time. The stuffs that the owner had prepared for renters are so thoughtful - even including a good size of cooler. We can tell they sincerely want us to have a home stay convenience. The house location is very convienent, too. Very close to all the attraction venues.

      Wonderful cottage and location!

Left on 07/02/2012 for a stay in June 2012

The cottage was exactly as pictured and was also spotless, well appointed and beautifully maintained inside and out. We did have a rental car and the secure garage was a bonus. We walked leisurely to the coffee shop and the market while feeling safe at all times. The ceiling fans and window air conditioner were much appreciated since the temp was in the 90's all week.

      Great place!!

Left on 05/01/2012 for a stay in April 2012

After staying in this charming little home twice now, I would recommend it even more now than before. Last year we were there for a month in February and found the home immaculate, very charming and that the owners had anticipated our every need. There was information about sites to see, as well as the location of anything we may have needed from medical facilities to grocery stores. Before returning this year in april, we were able to compare this Vrbo experience with some others and grew to appreciate this cute little home even more. It was just as clean and well kept up this time and we also got to meet the owners, Sheryl and Kelly. They are great people and I would not only heartily recommend this rental property, I can't wait until my husband and I can return ourselves!

      Awesome Cottage!

Left on 11/09/2011 for a stay in October 2011

This cottage is a jewel in the heart of Colorado Springs. It is well decorated and the pictures on the website are very accurate. Everything we needed or wanted was included in this rental. The cottage was spotless. The well-stocked kitchen was appreciated and the first morning breakfast was a special treat. It is close to local attractions and fine restaurants. There are many wonderful parks in the area for nature lovers and bird watchers. Be sure and check out Bear Creek Regional area and Cheyenne natural area. You may see a mama bear and her cub like we did! A must see is Garden of the Gods complete with the Trading Post that has good food for a quick lunch. Another favorite place to eat is adam's Mountain Cafe in Manitou Springs. We can't wait to get back to The Springs and stay in the cottage! Thanks for everything.

Don't miss this little gem. great location w/awesome amenities

Left on 08/24/2011 for a stay in August 2011

My family of four (2 girls ages 10/7) stayed here aug 2011. It was ideal for our needs. We made a quick run by as soon as we got into town to see what we might need to buy at the store while we were out. Surprisingly all we needed to buy was food. We were impressed by the very private back yard and the garage. The kitchen was very well stocked for all our needs and we greatly appreciated the eggs & sausage for breakfast. Once inside the house or the yard we were pretty oblivious to the neighborhood around us. We did however get visited by a family of raccoons on our last night which provided some entertainment while packing. The house is very well equipped. washer/dryer and all appliances work well. plenty of hot water and we stayed very comfortable with just the window aC unit. Location was great we felt we were never more than a quick walk or very short car-ride to most everything we did. that being said we also did not feel like we were in the touristy center of town either. very quiet and very relaxing. thanks for the awesome accommodations.

      Beautiful Little Vacation Home

Left on 08/12/2011 for a stay in June 2011

My husband and I came from Illinois to Colorado Springs to celebrate our 21st anniversary. This lovely little house was the perfect place to stay. It was private and quiet. The kitchen was a blessing. It was stocked with all the necessary items to make meals easy. We only had to provide the staples like bread, meat, milk etc. Being able to cook our own meals, saved us money that we could use to enjoy the many sights and attractions in the area. Hopefully, we will be able to return to "The Springs", and when we do we will be contacting Sheryl to check the availability of the house. There is not enough space to tell all the good things about it. It was very clean, and the updated repairs were beautiful. All you need to do is walk in, unpack and start the fun. Thanks Sheryl and Kelly for making our vacation a great success.

Left on 08/11/2011 for a stay in August 2011

We loved staying in this sweet little house blocks from downtown Colorado Springs. It was a perfect place to rest at the end of a long day of sight seeing. Our girls loved playing in the yard while we made dinner. This house was very well stocked with all that we needed, a true home away from home. It was a convenient drive to all the attractions we wanted to visit and is located in a quiet neighborhood of kind people. We will be sure to stay here again the next time we are in Colorado Springs.
