LondonA beautiful getaway from the world

What a gorgeous place this is. If you are looking for a real getaway from it all, peace and quiet this is your spot. I spent a week here with my partner a while ago and have just booked to go back this summer, and cannot wait!
The studio accommodation is a really good size (you are not tripping over your suitcases every time you turn round), and has everything you need. But the big bonus is the pool - you have that all to yourselves - no 9am start to put your towel out to save your sunbed here! You really are on your own here apart from the owners Carl and Marietta who live just next door (although you would hardly know it some days). They are very friendly and helpful with suggestions of what to do and where to go (with your hire car of course - that's an essential here). We spent a week just chilling and relaxing with a midweek excursion up the coast just to remind ourselves that there were other people in the world!
Stock up on your food/beer/wine at a supermarket on the way up (plenty of choice of supermarkets if you are coming through from Malaga) and you will have everything you need for a perfect retreat. -

When we drove to La Paz is was like we were driving away from the rest of the world - I have never experience such tranquillity and a feeling of total relaxation. Motty and Ginnie, the dogs were there to greet us - these guys actually made our holiday - I cried when I said goodbye!
Unfortunately we experienced some horrendous weather while we were there, which meant we had to venture out into different areas, everywhere is a fairly long drive. When the sun shone, we spent all day buy the gorgeous pool, wine and beer stocked up in the outdoor fridge - plug the ipod into the stereo and listened to music and read books all day. In the evening awesome Bbq's and more drinkies!
The studio is small, but has everything you need, its simplicity and cleanliness made for a great holiday. Carl & Maria were very friendly and helpful - we hardly saw them, even though they live next door! We had a huge amount of privacy but there were there if we needed them.
You simply can't imagine the peacefulness of this place - tranquillity during the day with just the sound of nature and total darkness is the evenings. This place is bliss, and we can't wait to return.
A few tips...
We rented our car from malagacar.com - they were quite cheap, efficient and the little car was great. It was a small car with a tiny engine, which made getting up and down the mountain a bit tough - driving mostly is 1st or 2nd gear! A bigger engine would be a good option. Driving - some of the roads are pretty scary, - Carls directions from the airport and brilliant. Do not trust your sat nav - the main road which we used to get everywhere wasn't even on the sat NaV !!
Shopping - the local shop in Comares is very basic, ok for everyday items and booze but for a 'big' shop go to Eroski near Torre del Mar - it's huge and has everything you can think of.
Thank you so, so much for a fantastic holiday - we have literally come back as different people with a new attitude to how life should be.

Maria and carl are always on hand for advise and great tips on where to eat and drink and visit. The pool is fab , which you have soul use of, and there is also use of lovely built in BBQ. Their dogs are friendly and good fun too.
Top tip- don't forget your hire car. -

LisbonAs relaxing as it gets!
Left on 02/21/2012 for a stay in August 2011
We spent two weeks at La Paz in early august. We were looking for somewhere which would be peaceful and most importantly a holiday property with its own pool. Well, we got that and much more than we could ever wish for.
My first words to Maria and Carl when we arrived at La Paz was that the photos on this website don't do it justice. The surrounding countryside is spectacular, the pool is incredible and the accommodation is exactly what you need with a well-sized living quarters, excellent bathroom and cooking facilities and even a bit of UK TV thrown in for good measure!
We found it easy to explore the surrounding region, we made day-trips to Granada, Cordoba, Malaga and Nerja. But the little village of Los Ventorros was always good for a sneaky beer or two and the mountain top town of Comares is spectacular, has a decent supermarket and some nice places to eat.
Last but not least, a word or two about our hosts, Maria and Carl. They were absolutely perfect and made us feel completely welcome throughout our stay. Like many other guests have said, they never intrude on your privacy yet are always around to help you with any queries you may have. We really enjoyed meeting them, sharing stories, travel tips, cooking tips and the occasional drink!
And why not finish by mentioning La Paz's most famous residents, Mottie and Jeanie - two of the most fantastic, entertaining and kind-hearted dogs we've ever had the pleasure to meet. The lazy afternoons in or by the pool were always made more entertaining by the odd game of football with Mottie or by Jeanie's funny smiling face. I'm not the biggest lover of dogs, but it's impossible to not love this pair.
If it's a relaxing break, far away from the madness of city life you're after, then this is one of the best places you can go to.
Thanks Carl and Maria, for an unforgettable holiday!
