London, United KingdomPicture perfect Italian lakes experience
Left on 11/23/2012 for a stay in August 2012
We spent a fantastic week at Residence Tremezzo in august 2012. The apartments are all very well equipped and the lovely swimming pool inevitably becomes a central focus. Shops and restaurants are located down a path at the bottom of a steep hill but, unlike some other reviewers, we found the walk no real problem. It is certainly steep, but can only be 200 metres at most. It was an extremely hot week but the apartments can be kept cool if you are disciplined about using the windows and shutters sensibly. The ferry stop is the obvious departure point for seeing around the island and, as our kind and helpful host predicted, renting a motorboat for a couple of hours and zooming ourselves around the lake was a highlight and well worth the money.

graysour holiday at Tremezzo Residence
Left on 09/06/2012 for a stay in August 2012
We had the most amazing holiday ever in the Tremezzo Residence, the apartments are perfect and the grounds are stunning, they are looked after by the nicest gardener and the pool was cleaned daily and was spotless, the surrounding pool area was also spotless. there is everything you need in the apartments to cook if you so choose to. the location is stunning and view from the apartments and pool area is heaven. however it is high up and you should be aware that there is some walking involved, the path to town is down high cobbles but if you are able to walk then no problems but definately not for the elderly or infirm, we chose to walk down the town via the roadway as that seemed easier to do and then walk up the path coming home but to be honest the walk is worth it all day long to stay in that apartment and have that view. i would not stay anywhere else if i had the chance to go again. the town is very quiet but has nice restaurants and there is a fab wine bar called cantina follie which is near the apartments on the pathway down to town, that has the loveliest owners and they are so friendly and of course fabulous wine. there is no where in town that sells fresh milk so you have to drive or walk to the nearest supermarket, so bear that in mind as the only shop in town sells, meats and vegetables and has pasta and dried foods but no milk, yoghurt or bread. but the nearest supermarket is only about 5 mins in the car and you can walk, the bigger supermarket in Lenno you would need to drive to really.the apartment does not have air conditioning so it was very hot, but there were big fans so it wasnt that bad but we were there in mid august so it was to be expected to be very hot. overall i would recommend the apartments and we will definately be returning.the restaurants in town were not expensive and there is a lovely hotel called La Darsena which has a pricey but wonderful restaurant if you want to have a special night out. fantastic place, loved every minute.

NewcastleWonderful relaxing holiday
Left on 08/20/2012 for a stay in May 2012
Having arrived late evening after a long drive from the airport it was wonderful to be met by Matteo who quickly showed us the tremezzo amenities and then drove us to the apartment. When we arrived at our apartment it was just as expected from the photos. The apartment was clean, warm, modern and spacious; ideal for two.
Waking the next morning and looking out from the balcony over Lake Como was beautiful. The grounds of the apartments were immaculate and the pool and jacuzzi were clean and well cared for.
The area of Tremezzo was an ideal area to stay. It was just a short walk from the apartment to the town and lakeside. There was plenty of restaurants to choose to eat at. The apartment was also close to the ferry terminal and you could hop on and off the ferry visiting the towns on the lake.

We had a great stay at Tremezzo Residence, the apartment was so spacious and was decorated to high standards. I would definitely recommend staying there and will be returning in the future. There are some lovely restaurants less than 10 mins walk from the residence. The owner Matteo and his wife were very helpful. Highly recommended!

Very picturesque but not much to do for a young family.
Left on 06/15/2012 for a stay in June 2012
We really struggled to get a reply from the agent on renting the apartment and they weren't very open to letting us have an alternative changeover day to Saturday. Even though we saw plenty of people coming and going during the week.
The booking process was less that formal. You pay 1/3 to secure the dates and 2/3 in cash when you arrive. No contract is put in place, just an email. Don't worry though this is how they do it and you will get the apartment with no problems. Because of this process you have to meet the Manager at the apartment to settle up. Not something I liked after the travelling.
We are a family of four travelling with small children who are aged 6 and 4. My comments below are made with this situation in mind and are relevant to our family.
The apartment itself was very clean, the beds were alright and the views were amazing. The weather was less than perfect when we were there and as such didn't get much chance to just relax around the pool and enjoy some sunshine. This caused us to find things to do. There isn't much for families to do at the apartments or Lake Como in general. You will find a bit of a park with some rides / fun stuff to do at Como itself but other than that it is small village afer small village with the same shops and same restaurants. There is no real access to the lake like a beach and we didn't see any water sports etc. There were some dodgy looking pedalo type vessels at Como but they looked like they may sink.
The apartments are fairly close to the lake but up quite a steep hill. This gives you a lovely view but if you want to walk to Tremezzo and more importantly come back via the 'short cut' then you will have to walk up and down a very steep cobbled path. It really is a challenge when you have enjoyed some pizza, pasta and a beer. If was elderly or imparied in any way I would want to know that I basically have to drive to get out of the complex to go anywhere. There is a road but its a little hazardous and a long way around.
The pool is not heated and is freezing. The price to rent isn't cheap and I think they could easily afford to heat the pool. Even on the hot day I wouldn't go in there. My small children spent their time in the hot tub which was less than hot. There is a sauna too but I have no idea why that is there. Why would you?
The gardener is a very happy man who offers you some light entertainment.
So if its raining and you want to relax a bit you can perhaps watch the TV. You can if you like BBC World. I was told by a restaurant owner that 80% of the visitors to Lake Como are British but you will only find a handful of news channels in English on TV. Again I think a small investment in some kind of satelite TV would go a long way to appeasing our needs. Children can only draw and play games for so long, cartoons would have been heaven sent for them. The Manager did drop us off 5 Dvds during the week and that did help but its not enough.
Then theres the wireless. Do not pay 30 Eur for this. The software they use only allows access to one device at once. I have no idea why they have this restriction other than to limit the activity on the connection / modem. As a family we have two iPhones, two iPads and a laptop I use for business. You can imagine the frustration this caused when we had no other entertainment. They did give us a second connection which helped but it wasn;t ideal. I don't think they should be charging for a service that they limit so much.
Oh and the electric is really annoying. The Italian infrastructure isn't the best so again they limit what you can do by changing the plus to their own fittings and giving you two adapters. Imagine if you would like a cup of tea with a slice of toast whilst the dishwasher is doing its little thing and your wife is straightening her hair. Don't charge anything at this point! You have to time everything with military precision.
Don't get me wrong if the weather is nice you will probably have a lovely time and I'm not ranting or anything. I just wish someone had pointed out these things to me before I booked. Some improvements can be made and I sincerely hope my comments are taken in the positive manner I am suggesting them.Response from Julie Webb - 07/06/2012
Manager
Many thanks for your feedback.
We like to offer a personal service and hence the owner (not manager) personally meets every guest on arrival which judging by the comments submitted elsewhere guests appreciate the personal touch, advice and support if required during their stay.
Just to clarify we give guests the option of paying by bank transfer or credit card with the balance ahead of arrival as requested and an email contract is forwarded to every customner for each booking.
Wifi is now installed in the home.
We have over 60 dvd's to choose from and offer these to every guest to choose from as opposed to dropping off 5 dvds as stated incorrectly here if customers wish to watch tv during their stay.
The pool is huge (so if heated would only improve temperature by 1 degree) The weather on the lake is 35 degrees at present as i write (6 july 2012) and lovely and warm. Weather was unusually cold and wet in June which perhaps hindered your stay. Many guests enjoy the sauna and jacuzzi. This should mean a warm summer through September.
The walk to the village whilst short is steep however this is common when you have an elevated home with lake views here in Como.
Electric works on a lower voltage here in Italy and this is pointed out to guests on arrival. You can still use all appliances, but no many at one time. Every country has it's own little idiosyncrasies and Italy never claims to be perfect!
Lake Como is renowned for tranquility and relaxation and not a mass tourist destination so whilst there are perhaps less things for children, parks, beaches, lido, water sports, walks, cycle hire, mountaineering etc are present if you ask, research, take a look, visit the tourist centre or ask Matteo the owner if in need of idea's. -

Left on 11/10/2011 for a stay in July 2011
My husband and I stayed in apt 7 in July. We could not have wished for a better place to stay both in terms of location and the quality of the apartment itself. Just far enough back (up!) from the lake shore to be quiet yet within a short (steep) walk to good quality restaurants, bars and shops (although for a supermarket you'll need a car).
The apartment was very well designed and equipped and decorated to a very high standard - all in all a joy to stay in. It was our first time to Lake Como and we were stunned by its beauty.
We will be back. -

We arrived in Tremezzo and decided to stay at Tremezzo Residence, when we arrived it was very quiet, immaculate and had fantastic views of the lake. We were originally going to stay in apartment 9 but were also shown apartment 11 which was overlooking the lake. Definately worth paying that little bit more for the view.
We found the accommodation to be perfect with the local shops and restaurants only a short stroll down the hill.
Will definately be back for another visit!!! -

Loved the time at the apartment. Easy connection from the train arriving at Como, onto a bus, and met at the bus stop in Tremezzo to drive the short distance to the apartment. Very convenient to the ferry and buses to enjoy all that Lake Como has to offer, without too many crowds. The apartment was very well set up, with a beautiful view of the lake. As the weather was warm we were able to enjoy the pool. Will be back!

Left on 07/04/2011 for a stay in June 2011
Myself, partner and another couple rented the Residence Tremezzo for a week. Certainly a wow factor the moment we drove through the electric gates, opened the door into the apartment then finally saw the view from our balcony!! Very modern the apartment is equipped with everything you would need and has BBQ, swimming pool, jacuzzi & sauna. Other guests we met were friendly and not noisy. Made good use of the balcony for breakfast, some meals and early evening drinks. Parking and the whole complex is very secure. The town of Tremezzo is a 5 min walk - downhill, mostly cobbled so bring your flats ladies (or take your heels in a bag!). Tremezzo proved a great base. We ate 4 times in the restaurants in the town and found a nice little wine bar/restaurant (Cantina Follie), which serves great food platters to share and of course Prosecco. The Ferry terminal to Bellagio, Varenna & Menaggio is at the bottom of the street, just 5 minutes walk from the apartment - very convenient. You will need to visit Menaggio for the nearest supermarket. Not a problem if you have a car (which is recommended to enjoy coastal drives and getting to places not on the water taxi routes). We drove up to Domaso and hired bikes for the day and drove to Cernobbio to do some wakeboarding. All in all a fantastic holiday. The owner of the apartment, Matteo was very welcoming, showing us round the area and complex. A very efficient service. Checkout was also seemless. We would recommend to those seeking a mix of relaxation, activities (walking/biking/watersports) and visiting the beautiful towns of the lake. Thank you for a great holiday!

After trawling the net through 100's of apartments around Lake Como, we came across this little gem.
Has its own secure gated parking, which was great for us as we had a hire car. In a beautiful location on the hill overlooking Lake Como, making for an amazing view of the lake from our balcony.
It was like a home away from home with everything we needed and more, Tremezzo itself is a very pretty place with plenty of restaurants at your disposal. Its centrally located and so its easy to get around from there.
I would have no hesitation to stay here again. -

Left on 06/26/2011 for a stay in June 2011
We stayed at the Tremezzo apartments for 7 nights with our 4 y.o. and 9month bubba. We had a car which allowed us to go to the nearby Menaggio and Lenno to pick up groceries.
Matteo was extremely helpful and even asked around for wet weather activities - a drive to Switzerland for chocolate! The kids loved the pool, spa and space for running around. The climb up the hill can be challenging with a pram but is managable.
The apartment was well appointed and we were able to cater for the little ones easily.
Beatiful views, and a fantastic pizza restaurant up the hill. -

Having driven through to Lake Como over several days we were thrilled to see the beautiful apartment and gardens at Residence Tremezzo, and of course the stunning views. The pool, sauna and hot tub were all immaculate, and the grounds beautifully kept. Matteo was incredibly helpful, and gave excellent advice with regard to the local area, and also how to negotiate Milan with ease - a wonderful visit. The outstanding local restaurant - Albergo La Darsena immediately below the apartment will blow your budget, but the balcony tables at sunset are very special, and the food excellent - leave room for the desserts! We tried several of the other local restaurants, and found them all to be very good. A wonderful visit to Lake Como, very much enjoyed.

If you have booked the Residence Tremezzo then you're in for a treat!!! We were met by Matteo and taken to our apartment pointing out points of interest on the way! The apartment was even better then the photos (if thats possible!) great location, views stunning, there is a pebble steep path to walk up and down to the lakeside where you will find great restuarants and the fabulous wine bar! - a must - makes the walk home easier!! The ferry port is here too allowing you to easily access the rest of the lake if you dont have a car.
We spent many a night on the balcony and morning! and made good use of the pool/sauna/jaccuzzi all impeccably kept
Nothing is too much trouble for Matteo to help you and advise.

Left on 05/22/2011 for a stay in April 2011
We stayed here for a week in late april, with my husband, 18 month old son and a friend in a 2 bedroom apartment. The location really is fantastic, 5 minutes walk to Tremezzo down the old stone path, Ferry terminal down the bottom of the path takes you to Bellagio and other fantastic spots on the lake, restaurants minutes away, it was very easy to relax. The pool, jacuzzi and sauna were an added bonus with a fantastic view.
If you have young children I would recommend a backpack (which we had) as I couldn't have pushed a buggy up the path. Tremezzo really is a beautiful area of Lake Como as well, it felt like we had found the perfect spot. -

Beautifully appointed appartment with an absolutely fantastic view, we were in appt 9 and found it very spacious and unlike a previous reviewer we had planty of wardrobe space, nice flat screen TV but only 1 english speaking channel so if like us you have teenagers who need their daily viewing I would recommend taking some Dvds. The pool and surrounding area is lovely and even in mid august wasn't too busy .We found Tremezzo very charming with Red & White & Helvetica restaurants only a short walk away providing good food and very helpful and friendly service.Cantina Folie is a hidden gem of a wine bar. The ferry service is a marvellous way to see some of the other towns on the lake

The apartments as mentioned before could be better signposted. They do not appear on Satellite Navigation systems, all taxi drivers got lost. Otherwise the location, view and actual apartments are amazing. Just be careful when allocating apartments to large groups. We disturbed other families because we were mixed in among them. That pool was just heaven. The sauna and jacuzzi a lovely touch, just too hot for me in July! Washing machine great idea. Apartment for 2 was so big with a massive balcony. Big fridges but local food so good and inexpensive we did not really need fridge. Matteo and his wife were super helpful.

Have travelled with another family for the last three years and have yet to be disappointed -but this is the best so far.Fantastic apartment with the an unrivalled Lake view and al child safety pool. All mod cons in a new no- expnese spared tastefully constructed set of 11 apartments.Exery one with a view of Lake Como down to a steep path(got me much fitter and not for the infirm) to the Lake itself and plenty of eateries.Very relaxing in the clear almost Alpine air -hot with occasional exciting night thunderstorms. You need a car to get around. With a family of 4 -for a drink and say just a main course -expect to pay £50 to £70.as a minimum - treat yourself to one of the many ice creams at a parlour rather than having a second course at the restaurant. We tended to alternate eating out and then cooking in the well equipped apartment -or the underused really good BBQ.The balcony is much bigger than the picture and we easily ate out on it(8 No) overlooking the pool and lake. Menaggio , Bellagio and Lugano in Switzerland were the pick of the places to visit - day tickets for the boats are say £9.
Milan Airports to apartments are about an hour and a half -don't go for biggish cars as roads are very narrow in parts.
Highly recommended - and would certinly go back -
