Authentic Andalusian Country House Los dos Algarrobos

Welcome to Los dos Algarrobos, our Authentic Andalusian Country House with private pool and sea views lies 10 miles from the sea, 50 car-minutes from Malaga Airport, and 2 miles to the white village of Cómpeta.

Former Farmer's Siesta House

Originally, the house was a farmer's cortijito ("siësta house"). In recent years it was expanded to a complete house of approx. 130 m2 with a large open Andalusian-style kitchen, a dining room, a living room with wood stove, three bedrooms that sleep eight in total, and two bathrooms.

The house is decorated with atmosphere and i...n a contemporary Moorish-Andalusian style. It offers all the amenities that make your stay a pleasurable one. The kitchen is equipped with a four-burner stove, an oven, a microwave, a large refrigator, a dish washer, and a washing machine. Also present: a bread baking machine, an espresso machine, and a coffee maker.

In the living room you'll find a TV with dvd/video player and an iPod stereo installation, so you can bring your music collection. Also, our library is at your disposal, containing literature, cookbooks, art and travel books about Andalusia, and movies in several languages. There is free wifi available for guests.

The wood stove dates back to the time the house was still a "siësta house". It's very effective, but additional a climate system is installed: it provides heating during the winter months and air conditioning for heat spells. For the winter period there are also additionally two gas heaters.

There are three bedrooms. The largest is the master bedroom, with its double bed, large wardrobes, and en suite bathroom containing a bath with shower, toilet and bidet. It offers direct access to the swimming pool and the terrace. On the other side of the house are two more bedrooms: one containing another double bed and wardrobes, one containing two double bunks. In between these two bedrooms is the second bathroom with a shower and toilet. A children's cot and high chair is available.

In total, the house sleeps a maximum of eight.

The swimming pool (4x10 m) is surrounded by a terracotta-tiled terrace and the outdoor barbecue area. More terraces are to be found outside the living room, the patio terrace, and under the carob trees. The best view is offered by the little terrace on top of the rocks behind the swimming pool. There's wooden garden furniture, among which six sunbeds.

In front of the house you'll find sloping beds, with herbs and all kind of plants and trees.

Cómpeta is the largest of the white villages in the Axarquia, the area east of Malaga. It's situated at an altitude of approx. 600 meters (2,000 ft), 16 kilometers (10 miles) from the beach.

The village is situated at the border of the Las Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara y Alhama nature reserve, measuring more than 400,000,000 square meters.

The village has a long Moorish tradition and is famous for the production of Malaga wine. In July, the yearly local festival takes place; the wine festival is in August.

Over the years, the village has grown considerable, offering many facilities such as tens of restaurants, banks with ATM's, two supermarkets, and lots of smaller shops. There's a market every Saturday. Plaza Almijara is the heart of the village. Here, you'll find the church and a number of restaurants.

Cómpeta's charm is that is hasn't updated itself in every respect. Despite those facilities you will often encounter the goat shepherd with his flock on the way from the house to the village. And while enjoying the night on the square you'll see local farmers arriving on horseback for a beer. It's eay to get lost wandering the small streets of Cómpeta, and to find yourself back in earlier times.

Cómpeta is a great starting point for many activities, like hiking, horse riding (mountain)biking, skiing (in the Sierra Nevada at 2 hrs), golf and creative workshops.Read more

Additional Location Information

The house is in a very private situation, nobody is overlooking the terraces and pool area. Though the house is not isolated, there are other houses around.
The village is about 2 miles from the house. In the village you can find banks, shops, over 20 restaurants, pharmacies and all kind of other facilities you may need.
A car is necessary. The village itself can be reached by public transport, but to get to/from the house you'll need a car. Parking is at the grounds of the house.
