Conil de la Frontera, Andalusia, Spain
What's Nearby:
Additional Location Information
Atalaya park is considered by many people to be the best area in Conil. It is central but quite (a rare combination in Conil). Most of the houses and apartments in the neighbourhood are owned by people from Sevilla and Madrid, who have holiday homes here for the Summer.
The location of the apartment is perfect. There is no passing traffic, as it is situated in the lovely Atalaya park overlooking the pine trees, and fantastic unspoilt views from every window of the Atlantic ocean and Conils golden sand.
This area is very safe, and the park has a wonderful relaxing bar, where you can watch the sun go down, whilst the children can play in view at the play area (so child and adult friendly!)
The park also has an free outside gym area, which is free to use and two boules courts (we have the balls free for you to use in the apartment).
It is only 5 mins walk to the beach, and a10 minute stroll into the center of the old town. There are a number of bars and good quality restaurants within a 5 minutes walk from the apartment also.
There is public car parking at the entrance to the apartment block, for which there is no charge.

Lovely Conil but what made it special was the apartment we rented for a week. Sea views, not just one, and so close to the beach and sea.
Immaculate condition with a comprehensive range of facilities and utilities.
Car parking location just outside the apartment block
Supermarkets just a few mins drive away.
Great tapas type bar in the park 200 metres from apartment.
Conil is a great location to explore from including Vejer and even Seville.
Thankyou andrew and april for very good restaurant locations.
Thankyou andrew and april for a wonderful holiday location.

If you're looking for a busy apartment block with a pool and English cuisine nearby then this just isn't for you. If you want peace and quiet and immersion in local food and Spanish holiday culture, you will love this.
This is real Spain, and Conil is a town that attracts Spanish holidaymakers. You'll discover beautiful uncrowded beaches with great surf. Fabulous great value restaurants and tapas bars are dotted in the narrow alleyways of the old town which is a short walk from the apartment.
Run by a wonderful English couple, there are some welcome touches of home with FreeSat TV. Andrew runs a great concierge service for guests and april's little touches make this a comfortable stay. Three large bedrooms (2 doubles and a twin) with two bathrooms and a very well-equipped kitchen with large dining room/lounge area. Lovely balcony overlooking the park and the sea.
Well stocked little library with English books and lots of English Dvds.
This was the Spain I remembered from my childhood many years ago, with few English voices being heard. You don't need to speak Spanish here as varying degrees of English are spoken in most places, but a few chosen words of Spanish such as "please" and "thank you" will earn you a broad smile.
No WiFi here but there is a cafe with free WiFi nearby called Diligencia (Andrew will show you how to get there). The coffee is really good there, by the way. There is good strong 3G signal in the apartment for those with mobile broadband.
Recommended for real Hispanophiles and peple wanting peace and quiet. This is the gentle side of real coastal andalucia.Response from Andrew & April Townsend - 05/30/2012

Thank you very much for this very kind and informative review. April and I strive to make our apartment homely for our guests, and are always very happy when when people feel this way. You was an absolute pleasure to have, and I hope that we will see you both again very soon. Andrew and April.

ChelmsfordA relaxing holiday in an idyllic location.
Left on 09/27/2010 for a stay in August 2010
We made use of the airport transfer service from Jerez provided by andrew and april and had a stress free journey followed by a warm welcome to the apartment...a great start to our holiday!! The apartment was spotlessly clean and provided us with all the amenities a family with school age children could require. The Townsends gave us a welcome pack and lots of great tips about where to eat etc and were on hand at the end of the phone had we required any other assistance. The park outside the apartment was a perfect safe place for the children to play and get to know the locals. We could keep an eye on them from the balcony or from the lovely quiet bar on the opposite side. The beach is just a stones throw away and boasts clean stretches of sand and plenty of space (even though it was august). The water was lovely and warm;don't be fooled because it's the atlantic (you won't need a wet-suit) and the breeze makes the heat of the day very pleasant and bearable. There is good surf for body boarding and it is a very safe area for swimming. We were told it could become very blustery but did not encounter this during our stay. The town is a 15min walk away and is a great place to round off your day with some Tapas, a few drinks and a wander around the old town taking in the sights and free street entertainment. You will need your phrasebook as this is a Spanish resort and many of the local places have limited English translation...it all adds to the fun! We had twelve days of unbroken sunshine, good food, warm friendly hosts and a perfect base from which to enjoy our holiday. We will return :-)

Left on 07/19/2010 for a stay in May 2010
Our family was vacationing in Spain and as part of our trip we wanted a family vacation on the beach in Southern Spain- without the hordes of tourists. Conil de la Frontera was a great location and april and andrew's apartment was perfect. It had everything we needed and more. It was very comfortable and well located. It exceeded our expectations. Our hosts were excellent as well. April and andrew were very kind, accommodating and always available to help ensure our vacation was terrific.
We enjoyed going to the beach everyday, body surfing and hanging out at the beach restaurant. In the evening we enjoyed exploring the town of Conil. We only scratched the surface of the things to do and see. Our whole family had a wonderful time and we want to go back to stay at andrew and april's apartment. -

Enjoyed Conil so much that we have already rebooked this fabulous apartment for next year. Mr & Mrs Townsend were excellent hosts with an abundance of very good advice which we took to our benefit. The apartment itself is well situated, being close to the beach and nightlife but far enough away to remain quiet at night. Good sized rooms, excellent facilities and very clean and the views from the roof terrace were fantastic.
This is definitely Spain and not the ?British? version on the east coast but is extremely beautiful and friendly, although it would be advisable to keep a phrasebook to hand.
Our favourite memory was spending an hour on the roof terrace with a glass of tinto verano watching the sun set prior to strolling down to the tapas bars for the evening.
Highly recommended but please don?t tell anyone! -

What a gem we found. Las Tre Piedres was a fantastic apartment with ample space for our family. It had excellent facilities including three very good double bedrooms and was situated by the sea with great see views from a number of windows and balcony area. The owners who also managed it (Mr and Mrs Townsend) were lovely and really looked after us. It made our stay very pleasant and they had lots of tips on where to go and what to do. Conil is a lovely spanish town. We really enjoyed the facilities and location of the apartment 'Las Tre Piedres' so much that we booked it again when we got home. Fabulous and highly recommended!!!!

Excellent booking arrangements and helpful hosts
Beautifully furnished good sized and well located first floor apartment
Lovely balcony for al fresco breakfast/evening drinks!
Walking distance into town where there are lots of restaurants, large supermarket and selection of shops. Across the road from the lovely beach (safe and suitable for children). Apartment is located in and overlooks a lovely park.
Very Spanish area - don't expect to hear any English voices except your hosts!
Thing we liked best ........ the cleanliness and level of furnishing/facilities in the flat and its proximity to the beach
Thing we liked least ........ the showers! temperature was very intermittent making showering tricky.

What a lovely apartment, I wish all apartments were to this standard, we did not want for anything. The view over the park and to the sea is beautiful plus it was nice and quiet and only 5 mins walk to the restaurants and bars. Conil is a very special place, there are not many places you can sit and watch the world go by with your 2yr old daughter until the early hours of the morning and feel completely safe. If you are looking for tapas bars, beautiful beaches and a family holiday with a Spanish feel then go to Conil. If you are looking for themed bars and a full English breakfast then please go somewhere else.

April and Andrew were most welcoming and attentive to all our needs and from the first day we felt utterly comfortable.
The apartment was superb. Beautifully clean with great equipment eg sharp knives clean iron huge fridge.
Conil is the most vibrant friendly good value down to earth jolly seaside town in europe. You can eat great pizza with cheap wine or gourmet fish with the best wine or buy stunningly good meat fish and veg at the market or go to supermarkets that knock Tesco for six.
Inland is historically fascinating. Seaside is the best swimming imaginable.
Liked best Spanish family beach behaviour - so good for children - no litter no loutishness no rudeness.
Liked least venturing up the coast north to novi santi petri and seeing the horrible developments - but hey this is a tiny niggle in a glorious bigger picture. -

The Appartment in Conil was absolutely perfect. It was superbly furnished and decorated and had a lovely warm feel to the place. The roof terrace offers great views of the beach and was very peaceful. The appartment was in a great location being only a 10 minute short walk to the beach, and not much more than that to walk to the town centre. The town centre offers lots of choice on places to eat and drink, where the atmosphere is elated. The tapas bars are always lively and offer a variety of choice on their menus. There is something to suit all. Andrew and April were available to answer any queries i had throughout my entire stay and made me feel very welcome. I would stay at Andrew and April's appartment without doubt again. I got everything and more from my trip.

Left on 08/03/2009 for a stay in November 2008
I stayed in this apartment for two weeks in November of last year, and was extremely pleased by its layout, and how well maintained it was. It was spacious, comfortable and had sensational views.
The one issue we did have during the entirity of our stay was dealt with immediately, and the service was very friendly.
We also found the handbook to be of great use, especially given the nature of the area, which is beautiful. Part of its charm lies within its tradition; not a great deal of English speaking here, but as a result, it was nice to enjoy an "unspoiled" part of Spain.
The location of the appartment is ideal, being ten minutes from the beach, not a far walk into the town, and surrounded by plenty of restaurants, cafés and breakfast bars. Furthermore, the inhabitants were all very courteous and welcoming.
We hope to stay here again!

We stayed for one week to be near our friends living in Costa de la Luz. The appartment was very plush and spacious, and Andrew and April were very informative and reliable. The appartment had a lovely lounge to relax in to get away from the lunchtime sun, and the balcony was great to pass the evening away on whilst looking out at the beach and the sea. It was only a short walk to the beach, playground and bars. There were a couple of restaurants nearby, but many more in the centre of town, which wasn't too far away by foot. We would definitely book again as we loved the appartment and the town was authentically Spanish.

The place is very child friendly, safe, well cared for and perfecly located steps from the beach. The town which is a short walk away is a wonderful old Spanish pueblo with an alternative vibe, great boutiques and bars and music, we loved it and coudn´t recommend more highly this comfortable and well apointed spot.

August 2006 stayed at this fantastic apartment overlooking the beach in Conil. Everything in walking distance and plenty of places to eat.The apartment was spotless very comfy. well furnished and most of all very quite because of its location, so always got a good nights sleep was had.If you want to chill then this is the place to be. on the other hand, If you want to wine and dine till the early hours, or try a classy night club you can doo that too, It was a brilliant location, the town is a nice stroll along the beach with plenty of tappas bars. I think Conil is a perfect holiday location and I have to say a little special, some places in different parts of Spain I have been to since Conil, have never given what Conil, it was a great all round holiday. Would definately give this apartment the BIG THUMS up and will be returning without a doubt. Try it you wont be disappointed.

Andrew and April provided a great service from the first email we sent and even came to find us tired and lost (about 2 mins from apartment!)at 3.30 am following a delayed flight and long drive. they also recommended lots of good places to visit and eat out, offering to make bookings for us if we needed. The apartment was spacious and beautifully finished, lots of homely touches, with everything we needed. The area is beautiful and unspoilt, 2 mins to lovely, sandy, uncrowded beach and just a short walk to quaint old town. Plenty of shops within walking distance and large supermarkets. Great market on Fridays.Very few English holiday-makers, no pubs or fish and chip shops Hooray!!!

What ca I say , this has been our best holiday as a family ever. The apartment was the most luxurious we have ever syaed in, a real home from home. (The dishwasher and washing machine a godsend with the kids!) The books and DVD's available are a bonus too ! Though the beach and nightlife are more than enough to keep you occupied. We vivited the waterpark at Aljeciras , which the kids (and mum!) loved. The Tuna festival was particularly memorable with the procession to the beach , then the fireworks which we watched from the roof terrace because the children were tired. Fantastic restaurants , and you went that extra mile , to make this a wonderful vacation ,thanks, sharman, james and, gang

We loved the apartment so much so we have made return visits. Andrew and April are very welcoming hosts and the apartment is immaculately clean, with attention to detail, so you have everything you need. The location is superb, overlooking the beach and within minutes you can be amongst the many bars and restaurants, where you can sample the tapas and enjoy the atmosphere. This is unspoilt Spain, the beaches are beautiful, the roof top terrace of this apartment is a must with stunning views, and is great for sunbathing. We would highly recommend this apartment to anyone its great for couples and families and never fails to disappoint.

Conil really caters for your every need!
We were pleasantly surprised how much there was to do for people of our age! (early twenties). The beach is a stones throw away, the bars aplenty and fabulous food! We also found the more beer you buy the more free tapas you get! Brill!
The accomodation was great; clean, tidy and had everything we needed! Although we used it as a base, as we spent most of our time out and about! It was nice to be able to come home from a day at the beach and have a drink on the balcony, or to watch the sun set with a glass of wine on the roof terrace!
Definately worth a visit!

Firstly our accommodation was immaculate and well placed at the park by the beach... so easy to get to with stunning views, especially the sunsets !! The apartment was well equipped with all you'll need + tourist info, extra bedding, games, dvds etc. The hosts were excellent at meet and greet and we felt like a friend immediately... the welcome gift was a nice touch.
This is one of the best private apartments I have ever stayed in... and we've already been back !! Great value for our family too being so near to all the beaches, bars and restaurants... we could walk to all local amenities easily.
The choice of quality (and very Spanish) bars and restaurants in Conil is just amazing, around every corner almost. The owners recommended some excellent places to eat & drink, tapas bars, etc as well as nearby excursions to Jerez, Cadiz, Tarifa and Vejer (check this mountain village out - well worth it !). We even drove to Seville - a must see jewel of Spanish history. WOW !!!
All-in-all an excellent holiday, excellent accommodation and Conil is a lovely place to stay for a week. Loved it, but we got so much more from the holiday with the help of the apartment owners. Thank you. I can't find a fault really! -

We have stayed in conil on numerous occasions but this is by far the nicest place we have stayed 5*.From the moment we arrived the owners made us feel most welcome with the excellent Rioja wine and two glasses and the chic but welcoming feeling you get when entering this apartment.Indeed it was more like staying at the home of someone you know.Nothing was missing, everything you wanted in the spacious kitchen to the walkin shower ,and if you like a little privacy then the roof top terrace is a must (if you can stand the heat) the views are amazing. Its a short walk into town but also there are some lovely local bars within a stones throw away.Although the summer months can be a little busy the atmosphere is buzzing but it can be a little hot. There are to many bars to name but you must try the Hermanous in town for the best fried fish,we have stayed at this casa 4 times now and cant wait to go again ...One bit of advice BOOK EARLY

Great apartment in Conil, in a quiet complex close to the beach. We arrived on motorbikes having ridden all the way from Birmingham. We received a lovely warm welcome, safe parking for the bikes was provided and everything in the fully-equipped and spotlessly clean apartment was explained. We were told all about the good local restaurants and bars and the information brochure helped us make the most of our wonderful stay here. Excellent supermarket shopping was close by.
We really loved it in Conil, and will definitely return. If you're looking for a Benidorm-type resort, you'll be disappointed. If you want a quiet sophisticated holiday in an unspoilt Spanish seaside town, you'll be thrilled to have chosen this place. -

We have stayed in Andrew & Aprils apartment now two times and have had a wonderful holiday on both occasions. The apartment is one of the best we have ever stayed in (and we have stayed in lots!!). It is very "high spec" and they pay incredible attention to detail. What makes it so special is it just does not feel like a rental accommodation but "home from home". The views from the terraces are fantastic and it is very close to the beach and lots of lovely tapas bars.
Conil itself is a wondeful place to visit wether young or old and is a charming town, that has remained thankfully VERY SPANISH, no English bars or breakfasts here, and long may it continue to stay that way!!
