Additional Location Information
As mentioned, the apartment is ideally located; just a few minutes walk from the town where you'll find an abundance of restaurants, boutiques and bars. The main street, Calle Cadiz is just 1-2 minutes walk from the apartment which is lively and bustling during the summer months. There are nightclubs if that's your thing but not close enough to the apartment if it's not your thing! The end of Calle Cadiz meets the main square of Plaza de Santa Catalina with the impressive Torre del Guzman and the church which holds exhibitions of art and other interest during the summer. The Plaza leads directly down to the seafront and there are more restaurants here serving fresh fish and traditional Spanish dishes.
A little further afield there are numerous places to visit: historical Cadiz, Jerez, the home of sherry, flamenco and horses and Sevilla. A couple of pretty towns closer to home are the beautiful hill top towns of Vejer and Medina de Sidonia. If you're looking for activity you'll find horse riding, go-karting, gold and of course, surf activity.

Left on 10/28/2012 for a stay in October 2012
The apartment is in Conil and very close to food shops .It has a well equipped kitchen, a delightful sun terrace,a wonderful shower and comfortable beds.Close to a lovely beach.Very helpful information -maps guide books, phrase books provided in the apartment. English speaking contact when we needed advice on changing the propane canister in the kitchen. Conil is a small, bustling town with lots to see and do with many cafes, bars and restaurants.Very good tourist information centre when wanted to travel to Cadiz and other places. Had a superb time there.Free parking near the beach.

We stayed at this appartment for 10 days. Helen could not have done enough to make us feel like home from home books and games for the Kids. This stay ticked all the boxes for us and we will definately be back. Will Helen's advice regarding car hire, restaurants, beaches and other great places to visit we had a fabulous time. In fact she could not have been more helpful tirelessly answering all my questions via email. 10/10.

We had a lovely stay in Conil, in September, when the weather was still hot but the town not too busy. Conil is a very pretty and friendly town with plenty of nice bars, restaurants and shops. The beach is beautiful and only a few minutes walk away, which was fantastic. Helen's apartment is great and included everything we needed - the beach chairs and parasols especially useful - we also loved the roof terrace in the evening when the temperature was cooler. The apartment size was perfectly adequate for 5 adults as we spent most of the time outdoors. Cadiz is a fascinating city for a day trip - only 40mins away by local bus. The service from Helen was really helpful, we would love to return in the future.

Left on 08/03/2012 for a stay in July 2012
The apartment is perfectly located just a few minutes walk from the beach, town centre and supermarket. The beach is the real star of Conil, 14km of beautiful sand with shallow waters perfect for children. Conil was really buzzing at night but not 'clubland' like some other resorts. There are plenty of places of interest to visit such as Cadiz, Tarifa, Vejer, Jerez and Seville is only 2 hours away.
The apartment is very comfortable with everything you could possibly need for your stay. Its outstanding feature is the roof terrace which is perfect for lounging around reading, has a view of the sea, and is lovely in the warm balmy evenings.
We have been twice to this area now and would certainly return again.

We had a very good experience here, Helen was really helpful and friendly and the apartment was just right! Fantastic location being near the beach and close to little shops. The terrace provides a super space to be outside and private. I'd fully reccommend staying here and enjoying some wonderful seafood and clean vast beaches.

Left on 07/01/2012 for a stay in June 2012
We have had a fantastic week in Conil, the apartment has everything we needed (two of us), it is perfectly located for both the beach and town, with it's excellent choice of bars, restaurants and shops. From a British perspective Conil is refreshingly unspoilt, we heard less than a dozen other English voices during the week, so it at least seemed authentic.
The beach is stunning and the enormous roof terrace a real pleasure when the heat of the full sun is off it. Parking is tricky in the immediate vicinity, but fine for dropping off luggage, and no need to park too far away.
Do need main bedroom window closed at night as can get a bit noisy, and, despite trying, we could not keep the hours the Spanish keep. But this is not a problem as the ceiling fans work well.
All arrangements to book and get to the apartment very efficiently dealt with and appropriately priced.
Pros: Location, Beach, authenticity.
Cons: not a lot. -

We had a lovely week in Conil, the apartment was very comfortable and a just a quick stroll to the beach or town centre. The roof terrace was excellent in the evenings and the sea views fabulous!
Helen has been great to deal with, very attentive and the apartment was easy to settle into and had everything you could want on holiday (but can't bring because of Ryanair's hideously expensive luggage charges!!). It looks bigger than in the pics and was super clean when we arrived. We will be back! -

Left on 10/11/2011 for a stay in July 2011
We have been visiting Conil for 25 years now and this time we stayed in 3 different appartments - this one was by far our fave! The fittings werew all great, decorated really well & perfect location. The cleaner did such a good job & there was even a bottle of wine to welcome us! Only things that I would suggest for improvement wld be aircon as it was sooo hot & a proper table to eat on on the terrace as such a beautiful view but hard to eat from the coffee table up there and if you are feeling generous then a dishwasher but we will be back !!!

Hamburg and Berlin, GermanyA nice holiday in an untouristy area.
Left on 09/28/2011 for a stay in September 2011
A nice apartment with a great huge roof terrace and a wonderful view at the town and at the ocean, perfect for having breakfast in the morning or for chilling in the evening. We stayed there with 5 persons for 8 days. The apartment is close to the beach and to the city center thus to the nice restaurants. The flat itself was clean and in the kitchen we could find whatever we needed for cooking.
If you travel with 5 friends, it is not very comfortable to go to the bathroom through the living room at night or in the morning where a person might sleep. The floor plan is not given in the description and also one cannot know it in advance by looking at photos. But again, it is not an issue if you're traveling with 4 people (or less). In our opinion the flat will be perfect for a family with 2 kids. And it's too small for 6 adults.
For the taste of some of us: there is a little too much mould in the bathroom! And both bathroom and kitchen are badly needed to be modernized.
Another issue we had was no warm water in the last day.
The heat in the apartment during the daytime is not a problem as there is so much to explore in the area. At night, however, you might have trouble sleeping with an open window, since it tends to be very noisy outside (also way beyond 2 a.m.), especially if there is some fiesta in town.
And yeah, the neighbor's dog...It was too noisy!
All in all we had a nice stay in Conil, we liked the weather, ocean and tasty Spanish food. Also we liked the town because it is not tourist overcrowded.
And last but not least, it was a pleasure for us to deal with the flat owner! -

BrightonA lovely apartment in a great town
Left on 09/14/2011 for a stay in August 2011
We really enjoyed our five days here. The apartment is just a few minutes' walk from the really beautiful beach and the bustle of the town, but is quiet and peaceful, with a big roof terrace from which you have lovely views over the rooftops and down to the sea. The apartment is a good size for four people, and well equipped with everything you need for self-catering
Conil itself is very pleasant and very Spanish. There are loads of good cafés, restaurants and bars, to suit every budget, and strolling around the town in the evening was a real pleasure. The beach is pristine, and there is a lot to do and see in the town and in the surrounding area.
Overall, very highly recommended. We had two days to spare at the end, as we were moving on as planned to Seville. Helen had a late booking for one of these two days, and as a result sent us a refund, which she did not have to do. This was much appreciated and demonstrates excellent customer service!
There were just two things that caused us slight problems. The first is parking. It just was not that easy, and the rules about where you can and cannot park are not really clear. We were at the absolute peak of the season, and I don't think it would be an issue outside of school holidays.
The second was that the weather was hot, and the flat does not have air-con, only fans. Again, not an issue except in high summer.
We would definitely come back to the apartment, and to Conil. -

We had a great week in Conil. the flat is perfect. Beautifully arranged and the best place is the terrace which is stunning. The kitchen and the bathroom need updating but they're clean. all together we liked everything. Conil is really charming with its small streets and there's music everywhere.

We loved the location of this apartment: near shops, the beach, bars and the fish market. Our days went like this: a morning trip to the fish market and bakery, eating a late breakfast, having a siesta, taking a long walk at 3 ending up with a swim and a sunbathe. Late evenings were spent barbecuing on the roof terrace and hitting the heladarias for an ice cream and a coffee. Our teenage son stayed out later with his mates and found lots to keep him occupied. We enjoyed practising our terrible Spanish on the next-door neighbours, the flat is in an un-touristy and fairly quiet end of the town. There is no air conditioning, but there are plenty of fans. The flat was very comfortable, our only wish was that there had been enough shade on the roof terrace to sit there in the day-time. Everything is in walking distance, there is no need to hire a car once you are there. We will definitely return.

We stayed in Calle Remo for 10 days at the end of June/beginning of July - and feel we got our timing just right. The apartment met out needs perfectly in terms of location, convenience for beach, restaurants etc and wonderful roof space with fabulous views - a real bonus during very hot weather. Plenty of space for our party - which varied from two to four. We'd definitely consider returning!

We got a last minute booking for this house Easter week 2011,travelling over from Cadiz with husband and kids,12,10 and 8. The property is nestled into a narrow little street close to the beach(3-5 mins walking) with fruit shop next door and main restaurant bar area 2 mins from the house. We were able to check in immediately, everything fresh and perfect in the house. Website describes kitchen and bathroom as 'in need of modernisation'. I feel that the kitchen was more than adequate with plenty of bowls, pans and utensils, good working fridge and stove top coffee pot. Bathroom enters directly from living room and shower is in the bath with variable performance(occasional blasts of cold water) but this didn't matter much to us. Bedrooms were pretty with comfortable beds, good storage and plenty of plug sockets in this era of recharging phones, games and laptops.Living room again cute, clean, big squashy settee and selection of Dvds ,very good for kids to chill out for siesta or after long day at the beach. Dining area was in main entrance hallway and was airy and pleasant with front door open. We loved the roof garden and had break fast and evening drinks up there-it gets sun all day.
The beach close to the rental is ideal for kids, sandy and shallow with good big waves. On windy days people are wind surfing which is amazing to watch. Pleasant mix of Spanish families and surfers about the town.Lots of choice for food and drink. We only rented a car for 1 day but lots of scope for day trips.
The accommodation was beautiful but probably better for smaller groups ,4 or less as you are stepping over each other a little.Very romantic spot for couples.Too many steps for significant mobility impairment and roof terrace probably not suitable for very adventurous under 5s.
No internet at the rental. -

Left on 04/30/2011 for a stay in April 2011
We wanted to rent a small flat with a private terrace in Conil town, not too far from the sea - and that's exactly what we got. The newly-refurbished terrace is great - with sea views, sun loungers and lots of space to sit and read and enjoy a glass of tinto de verano. The flat itself, though not luxurious, is airy and perfectly comfortable. The owner, Helen, was very easy to deal with when arranging the trip and always responded promptly to emails. We've already booked another trip!

We had a lovely short break in Conil, a genuinely welcoming town with fantastic beaches, coastal walks, Andalucian character and lots of choice of bars and restaurants. The description of the apartment was very accurate and directions were clear. Its simply decorated but comfortable. The kitchen was far better than we expected and well equipped. We didn't expect there to be a dining space so we were surprised to find a table with room for four. We were told that the bathroom needed modernising but it was clean and perfectly adequate. The best feature, and one we made plenty of use of, was the terrace with sunloungers and a parasol. Wine at sunset overlooking the white rooftops and Conil's miles of beach was a fantastic nightly ritual. We would rebook.

A really lovely cosy apartment. Accurately described. Lovely spacious roof terrrace - sun all day round. The town is great - we went as the season was coming to a close so really chilled. Plenty of parking on the seafront a few minutes away.
Great surfing beach 5 mins drive away - local beach also OK to surf depending on conditions. Cadiz is fab.
I love this place and will be back - if it doesn't get booked out solid with all these great, well deserved reviews. -

Left on 09/26/2010 for a stay in August 2010
Have to agree with previous reviews; ideally situated 3 mins' walk from the enormous and beautiful beach. Everything you need (no TV but didn't miss it) - kitchen and bathroom are, as the owner admits, rather tired and dated, but perfectly clean and servicable. In a maze of residential streets which can ring with happy spanish voices into the night but it's never rowdy. 6 people would be a squash, but plenty of room for family of 4. Looking forward to next visit...

The apartment is perfected located only minutes walk from the beach and equally close to a fantastic selection of restaurants and bars within the vibrant town of Conil.
The apartment terrace has great views of the beach, perfect for watching the sunset. Would recommend the market every Friday which is sited along the beach front.

If you're looking for continuous happy hours, full english breakfasts and karaoke nights out I'm afraid Conil is not for you.
But for travellers interested in combining a sun holiday with the clean waters of the atlantic while enjoying an authentic spanish experience then Conil ticks all the boxes.
Helen Newman's place is a perfect location from which to explore the region. The beach is a few minutes away. Cadiz, a wonderful unspoilt maritime city a 30 minute drive.
Ditto the delights of a days fino tasting in Jerez.
On a practical level Helen's apartment is tastefully furnished and equipped with wonderful views from her rooftop.
We look forward to returning.
