      Loved it

Left on 04/06/2013 for a stay in February 2013

Thank you for the chance to tell of my awesome experience at the Coos Bay Lighthouse Way Vacation Home. I would like to say that the house was stocked with everything a person could ever need to have a great time. I got such great compliments from all that attended my gathering. Everyone that came over wanted to know who rented to me and how they could get a hold of my contact. Which I gladly gave them the information they needed. I'm just looking for another reason to rent it again. The one thing that I didn't like is that it isn't my house and I had to go home after my weekend was over.

Great location, great view, and private access to "private" beach. The price is fantastic for what you get. Even though I am usually alone on trips up to visit family (you could easily do 8 or more), the quiet and privacy are so relaxing for me. The amenities work for me - I bring office work and work from there for a week and the internet access is solid and fast. The TV channels are extensive and the movie collection is a nice bonus. The kitchen is well stocked with all you need to cook. One quick stop at Chuck's Seafood in Charleston on the way home and dinner is easy. When I have had a day or two on one end of a stay that this place was not available, I have stayed at The Casino Mill and I would take this place any day!!

View from the living & dining rooms at sunset Yet ANOTHER blue sky day!

      Absolutely perfect (considering)

Left on 08/12/2011 for a stay in June 2011

I rented this beach house for a week in June, 2011, so that my son (the groom) his groomsmen (4 of them) and my daughter and her husband -- all coming from out of town -- would have a comfortable place to stay for the days leading up to the wedding. Two other out of town surprise guest also stayed with us for several of the nights.

While the property was a bit "tired" in some ways, it was absolutely perfect for our needs. The four bedrooms (and a couch or two) accommodated us fine. We managed the single bathroom without many issues. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, utensils and counter space. The physical layout of the kitchen / main living area was ideal for the youngsters to 'hang out' in comfort. The open area provided several different "spaces" - couch and tv area, table and chairs, extra-long picnic table with benches and chairs, and the stools curling around the L-shaped kitchen counter.

The cons, though minor, include a bit of a round-about way to access the yard and stairs to the beach; cupboards overstuffed with way too many items, and items that could have been stored elsewhere; the single bathroom, of course; and a sense that the place could have been a bit cleaner and modernized.

However, the stairway to the beach is sturdy and provides great access to a near empty beach; the view of the lighthouse is stunning; there is a nice barbecue, and it was just a very comfortable place for a large group. We even bent the "rules" a bit and had quite a large crowd over for the rehearsal dinner (creatively using a shuttle system from the nearby state park to bring guests in) and the place easily met the challenge.

For the price, it's an amazing value. I would not hesitate to visit there again - whether as a couple or a large family reunion. We had a magical time, and I'm not sure it could ever be matched, but this place is special.

View from house was unbelievable, very relaxing

Left on 07/01/2011 for a stay in June 2011

We usually camp this week, but decided to leave camp stuff home and stay in a beach house, this rental has a homey atmosphere, kitchen was well equipped with exception it needed more pans, only had 1 frying pan, if your expecting the Ritz, this is not the place for you, more of an old homey atmosphere, the weather and view from house was spectacular. We have been all over the Oregon coast, and this was the best view. this rental is definately affordable for a family, We all were so relaxed we didn't want to leave. I definately would recommend to family and friends. We are going back.

      a great reunion

Left on 11/01/2010 for a stay in October 2010

I stayed here with my 5 college roommates from Kansas State. For some of us it was the first time we had seen each other in 40 years. We talked and laughed for 3 days. The accommodations were wonderful--It's not a brand new home but it was clean, roomy and had everything we could possibly need. I booked it for next summer to bring my grandson deep sea fishing. The beach is just a few steps away.

Great Getaway for a quiet family weekend at the coast!

Left on 05/25/2010 for a stay in May 2010

We had a family reunion here for fishing, clamming and crabbing near Coos Bay. This is not a tourist destination but if you want great access to the beach, bay, river and local fishing charters, this is a great place to go!

Pros: Good parking, stunning ocean views, access to a quiet beach, Charleston Marina nearby, Sunset Bay and Golf course very close, fenced yard for kids, well equipped kitchen for cooking family meals. TV's and WiFi. Great location for outdoor adventures.

Cons: One and 1/2 baths is a bit tight for four bedrooms but with coordination, it works! Not fancy, no shopping for the ladies.

BTW,the keybox is located over the GARAGE door, not the house door (the main entry door has no keybox).

      excellent value

Left on 01/22/2010 for a stay in December 2009

You cant stay in a hotel for cheaper, and we have six people in our family. we had plenty of room, the beach is right there, and the view is worth more than we paid. The home is older and rustic which adds to the charm. The steps down to the beach are a little steep, so if you have trouble with stairs this might not be the best fit. When you leave, you have to clean up, which is fine except that the washer and dryer are tiny and to wash the bedding for six people takes a while. Overall, the time we spent together at the home was fantastic, we will definately go back and stay a different time.

Beautiful Beach and fully stocked house

Left on 01/21/2010 for a stay in November 2009

This was our second stay at the house, and we enjoyed November in the house almost as much as July. On both trips we were happy to be so close to all the beaches and recreational areas that the coast has to offer. The house has everything you need, even for a Thanksgiving dinner for 8. All the windows looking out over the Pacific offer fabulous views of the surfers and fishing boats. The easy access to the beach is wonderful for walks, looking at the lighthouse, playing in the sand and having a bonfire. We had 2 children with us on one trip and 3 on the other, and they all loved the house and the beach. We are already planning another stay.
