Romance Cottage is a wonderful couples rental. It has mahogany bedroom furniture, granite countertop kitchen with a cook top & microwave oven. The view from the open air deck is into Johnson Bay,Coral Harbor and to the mountain tops of Tortola.It is just minutes form the most beautiful National Park beaches.

48561Attention Walkers and Hikers...This Is the Best Place!!

The Island of St. John offers incredible opportunities for great walks and hikes in the Caribbean Islands. The friendly and laid back Community of Coral Bay is a great place to stay, and Romance Cottage is the perfect place to make your home away from home to begin and end each day's adventures. The Cottage is hands down the most clean, smartly designed, well maintained, and homey place we have ever stayed. The owners, Mary and Jay are nothing but the best hosts. Being the kind folds they are, they were concerned about our transportation challenges since we did not rent a car. Being avid walkers and hikers the Romance Cottage provided us the best location for getting to and from the all the trail-heads, and it's the best place to hop on the Bus going either direction on its route between Cruz Bay and Salt Pond. With a little patience and planning of the Bus routines, a few taxi rides, and a couple of lifts from the cordial people of St. John we managed to get to and hike nearly all the trails and swim at most of the beaches as well as attend Mass in Cruz Bay Saturday evening. The cottage has a very nice, well equipped kitchen set-up, roomy shower, and a beautiful bedroom which opens on to the gorgeous porch looking out across Coral Bay. There are plenty of ceiling fans to accentuate the Caribbean breeze that keeps the cottage very airy and comfortable. With our provisions picked up at the Dolphin Market in Cruz when we arrived and the taxi ride over, we were set for our stay. But, if you happen to forget something Lily's Market or Love City Market are a couple of miles walk or a easy bus ride away with plenty of supplies you can snatch on your trip back to the cottage. The Tourist Trap (a Must), Ship Wreck Landing, Skinny Legs, Aqua Bistro, and other eating and drinking establishments are accessible from the Cottage by foot or bus as well. The decor of the cottage is special with Mary's incredible quilt-work accenting the walls and on the comfy bed. WiFi, TV, iPod dock, DVD player, and a nice selection of Cd's, Dvd's, and Books are provided. Among the books is a copy of St. John Off The Beaten Track (A Must Read). Get a Trail Bandit St. John Map, Pack light (Back Pack Recommended), bring your sense of adventure and you will return home with great memories and a overwhelming desire to return to St. John and Romance Cottage. We can't wait for our next opportunity.

53437Wonderful Stay at Romance Cottage

We stayed for a week at Romance Cottage and had an absolutely wonderful time. The cottage is exactly as pictured with spectacular views. We certainly will miss waking up in the morning and seeing the beautiful views and sitting on the balcony every morning for breakfast watching the island come to life. We saw 3 wonderful rainbows while there. The cottage's kitchen is well equipped and the beach chairs and cooler were used every day. The owners are very nice and were very helpful with suggestions on where to dine, snorkel, etc. I would recommend the cottage to anyone who is looking to get away, decompress, and enjoy the quiet of Coral Bay. We enjoyed our stay so much and are looking forward to returning next year!

We just returned from a week at the Romance Cottage on St. John. The studio cottage provided great views, and a relaxing base to use to enjoy the quiet side of the island. The first thing we noticed were the nice ocean breezes that the cottage enjoyed. We never felt the need to use the air conditioner. We enjoyed quiet mornings in the cottage with our coffee and light breakfasts and took our time getting going each day. The days were spent in swim wear and exploring the different beaches and coves for snorkeling. The shower in the cottage had two windows at the end so you were looking out to the bay while you showered. It was also an oversized walk-in tiled shower. Also, off the deck was a clothes line we used each day to hang our swim suits and towels and they would be dry by the next morning. The cottage also had a full fridgerator and great kitchen set up that made it easy to make some of your own meals there. Jay and Mary made excellent hosts and gave us great advice on the places to eat and what beaches to see. They also provided beach towels, beach chairs, a cooler for our use. We will most definetly return to the cottage for future vacations and highly recommend it for a couples get away.
This was our first trip to the Island and we had arranged for two sail / snorkeling trips before we landed. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip on long distance out of coral bay and the beautiful vistas we saw while sailing from this side of the island. The hosts made us feel as though we were sailing with friends vs. a paid excursion. We sailed with them our first day on the Island and they also gave us great advice on where else to snorkel on the island and what beaches and restaurants to visit. -

This was the perfect place for my partner and I. Mary and Jay had designed and built this cottage with attention to all the details, top of the line materials, dimmers on the lights, overhead fans in every room, beautiful quilts (made by Mary) on the bed and walls. They have thought of everything you need in the kitchen too! The location is great - on the quiet end of the island with access to beaches. What sealed the deal for us was a tandem, inflatable kayak which we strapped to out rental car and we paddled to secluded coves to kayak, snorkel and swim. When we were not kayaking, we were on the beach with the chair, umbrella, and cooler they provided. Mary and Jay were very helpful, hospitable, and respectful of privacy. Lucky for us they are friendly and warmly welcomed us. This is a great place and Mary and Jay are wonderful people.
