We have only been back to NH for 2 days and are already dreaming of coming back to this beautiful place! It was our first time to St. John for all 3 couples and were in awe of the beauty of the island as well as this awesome villa! We had all the comforts of home as well as many touches of luxury. The fresh flowers and beautiful gift basket on arrival were greatly appreciated! Perfect in every way! We will be back! The owner, Ellen, was very helpful and informative. Thank you for making my husband surprise 50th birthday a huge success!

Minneapolis, MNBest VI Stay Ever!
Left on 04/02/2013 for a stay in March 2013
Our family has visited the VI numerous times, staying in homes in both the Usvi and BVI. This was by far our best vacation and staying at Bay Rum Breeze was definitely the reason why. The house location is perfect, with spectacular views and full benefit of the tradewinds from its mountaintop spot. It is also comfortably appointed and well layed out. Perfect either for families or for a group of friends wanting to spend quality time together. We would definitely stay here again and can't wait to go back!

We stayed at Bay Rum Breeze one month ago, and haven't stopped thinking about our wonderful week away! The villa is amazing! Very luxurious with too many amenities to list. The views are spectacular and even more breath-taking than the online photos. We loved sitting on the veranda having our coffee/am and drinks/PM...so relaxing! And the location being so close to Maho Beach was perfect! We truly enjoyed everything about Bay Rum Breeze...except having to leave and come back to CT and four feet of snow!

You know how you see the professional pictures of where you're going to stay on vacation, and often you're disappointed when you arrive because it's clear that Photoshop and other tricks were used to make the place look better? That is not at all the case with Bay Rum Breeze. The pictures are beautiful, but it looks even better in person! And not even Tropical Storm Issac could put a damper on our trip in this villa. My husband and I stayed at Bay Rum Breeze during the storm, and even though half of our week was rainy, we still had an amazing time.
First of all, the house is immaculate! The wonderful owners have taken the big things and the little things into account, and they clearly want their guests to be comfortable. Everything is new and so clean. We had all the amenities we needed and more. We cooked several meals at home, and found what we needed every single time. The a/c in the bedroom was appreciated on warm nights, but the rest of the house gets a nice breeze and was quite comfortable even in august. Also, I am extremely sensitive to mosquitoes. Normally they seek me out no matter where I am, but at BRB, the breeze was so perfect and refreshing, it seemed to keep the bugs at bay. I never saw a critter in the house with the exception of maybe a moth that followed us in.
And if you're at all nervous about the adventurous drive to the villa that people have mentioned in other reviews, trust me - it's not bad at all. It's two minutes on a bumpy road to get to and from the villa so you should drive a 4-wheel drive vehicle, but the rest of the way is paved and marked well, and it even has street lights. (We have stayed in other villas where the "adventurous drive" was downright scary at night. This is not the case here.) You're right near some of the best beaches in the world and it's an easy 20-minute drive to enjoy the Cruz Bay area, but you're also high atop a hill and can feel like you're the only people in the world if you desire. We really enjoyed the peace and privacy.
If you've found Bay Rum Breeze and you're deciding on where to stay on St. John, look no further. Check in to this amazing villa. Go grab a pool float from the closet outside, connect your iPod to the outdoor sound system, select a good summer playlist, and relax in the pool with a cold drink nearby. Repeat daily.
Sigh, I missed it the moment we drove down the hill. -

We stayed at Bay Rum Breeze in a group of five (two couples plus one). The house was ours for a week after a quick run-through of all the features of the house and we had a blast. Beautiful view down towards Hurricane Hole and the smoothie stand practically around the corner as well as Maho Beach. Great stay.

Deposit, NYour favorite rental!
Left on 07/02/2012 for a stay in June 2012
We've been renting villas on various caribbean islands for many years. We've learned to check the location/views, age of the home, and many more factors before making a decision. Bay Rum Breeze is our favorite rental on St. John. The house is spacious, beautiful, comfortable, and well stocked. Frankly though, so is our house in upstate NY. What makes Bay Rum Breeze such a gem are the postcard type views. Looking out over Coral Bay and off to lots of the British Virgin Islands makes this wonderful home such an amazing place to relax. Its just minutes from the North shore beaches and it's away from the crowds and traffic congestion in Cruz Bay. Up high with a constant breeze you rarely need aC and we've never had mosquitos or any other bug issues. (If you've ever rented a low lying home near the water and been eaten up by mosquitos you'll appreciate this!)This is our 2nd stay in this villa and we've reserved it for a trip with friends in January. You'll not regret a stay here. The hard part is leaving!

Kernersville, North CarolinaThe Most Relaxing Vacation Ever!
Left on 06/20/2012 for a stay in May 2012
From the moment you enter the front door of Bay Rum Breeze you can feel that wonderful, welcoming breeze coming up from Coral Bay to greet you. We found the villa extremely comfortable and the kitchen was well-stocked with everything we needed for the little cooking that we did. The welcome basket from Jake & Sam Deli was very much appreciated! The views were outstanding either from the pool deck, the sitting areas outside each bedroom, the upper deck, from the outside showers or just looking out each window. I am such a photography buff and the picture-postcard photos that I managed to take of the villa, Coral Bay and its surrounding islands, the various bays from the East End to Chocolate Hole to Great Cruz Bay along the Westin Resort to Cruz Bay and the north shore beaches were out of this world! We can never get enough of the beautiful water and beach at Trunk Bay and Cinnamon Bay. We enjoyed some wonderful meals at Mongoose Junction, Morgan Mango's, Cafe Roma and the High Tide Restaurant and what breath-taking sunsets to top off a great meal!
We really enjoyed grilling lunch or steaks for dinner one night! The hot tub was perfect...perfect temperatures and perfect views, also.
Our most favorite thing to do while at Bay Rum Breeze was to spend the day just relaxing in or by the pool, reading our favorite novel, working on our tans, enjoying some rum and coke, listening to 101.3 R & B and just "chillin!!" We just kept saying, "it just doesn't get any better than this!"
Thanks, Ellen & Gary for allowing us to share a slice of your paradise...if only for a week! -

Cliffside Park, NJWow! What a great place to vacation.
Left on 01/14/2012 for a stay in December 2011
This place is so lovely that now that I've left there, I can't wait to return.
Let's start with the amazing views from all the rooms. It is a private paradise, looking out one sees other mountains, the bay, the docked boats and the oh, so sunny blue sky above. The sky is so clear that one can see all the stars at night whether from the stargazing terrace off the master bedroom or from the veranda near the pool which glistens beautifully with the lights on at night.
When you enter the house, there is a vast great room with a huge well equipped kitchen combined with a high ceiling, beautiful decor and a very comfortable rich atmosphere. The kitchen is stocked with all the basics needed to cook a gourmet meal. The living room has a large screen TV, internet service and other amenities.
Each bedroom suite is equipped with a huge closet, a wonderful bathroom with the most luxurious shower and a separate outdoor patio making it feel like three honeymoon suites.
This is not like camping out. Go see for yourself, you'll love it. -

I had seen the gorgeous online photos, so I thought I knew what to expect. But Bay Rum Breeze exceeded my expectations and just blew me (and my family) away. The location and the views are awe-inspiring, and the villa is the perfect place to enjoy them from. It is fresh and solid and clean, and very well-designed, from the covered veranda to the beach equipment closet. We loved the feeling of spaciousness, and everyone, from teenage daughters to type-A husband, found their own nook to relax in. My husband spent hours lazing on the veranda with his kindle, my daughters shuttled between the pool and the hot tub, and listened to their ipods on the outdoor speakers. The kitchen is well-stocked -- I never reached for a utensil that wasn't there, and there were plenty of plates and glasses and silverware. We all got a kick from of the outdoor showers, complete with postcard views and big fluffy bath towels.
When we first arrived on the ferry dock, we were met by an excellent greeter, who walked us over to pick up our rental car, and then led the way out to the villa in his car. It was great to have his help (especially because there was a glitch with the jeep rental), and then to have his tour of the villa, showing us things we might need to know. I wouldn't have expected that extra service, but I was really glad to have it.
All in all, I can't imagine a better rental place, and -- first day home -- I've already started scheming how to get back to Bay Rum Breeze soon.Response from Ellen and Gary - 01/13/2012

Left on 12/11/2011 for a stay in December 2011
Just got back from another great stay at Bay Rum Breeze. This was our 2nd time staying there and it was just fantastic. I love the location; quiet and peaceful, yet not far to Coral Bay and even to Cruz Bay where we usually went for dinner. Close to excellent beaches (we went to Maho, Trunk, and Haulover where we snorkelled). The villa has the most amazing view of the British Virgin Islands... To wake up to this is just heaven on earth. The villa still looks brand new (it is only 1 year old) and it really has the feel of luxury with beautiful granite countertops in the kitchen and bath and the most amazing tile on the floor and in the showers. It is well maintained! And I love the furnishings- everything is so nicely decorated and coordinated. We used both the pool and hot tub (what a treat to have a big hot tub to use after a day of hiking on the Island!). The villa is definitely spacious and there are so many different rooms to hang out in. I love this place and can't wait to go back!!

Moultonboro, NHBay Rum Breeze was incredible!!
Left on 08/04/2011 for a stay in July 2011
Bay Rum Breeze villa made our first trip to St. John very special! Our experience from start to finish was exceptional. Viva villas manages the property and were excellent to deal with... we would recommend their services with confidence. The villa was absolutely beautiful, without being over the top. We found it very comfortable, and even though the villa is brand new, it is already loaded with all the amenities you can imagine...every kitchen appliance/gadget you could ever need, spices to cook with, a basket of sunscreen/bug spray, laundry detergent, shampoo and soaps, beach chairs, coolers, etc. There is even Wifi and an ipod dock through which you can play your music on the outdoor speaker system!
Although it is a large home and there were only two of us, we did not feel it was too big. The layout is exceptional, with an easy walk out to the outdoor living area with beautiful patio furniture, a built-in grill, a large, beautiful pool and a hot tub. We enjoyed our coffee and breakfast outside every morning, and used the grill several nights. We loved the location of this villa, as it offered easy access to the beautiful north shore beaches, and it was close to Coral Bay, which we loved. Brb is located less than 1/2 mile from the smoothie shack, which was a favorite stop at the end of the day.
The best part of this villa is the stunning view that you can see from every room and bedroom in the house (as well as from the 3 outdoor showers, which were awesome!)... the pictures don't even do it justice!!! You can see for miles! There are views of the east end of St. John, as well as views of some of the Bvi's. We were lucky enough to be there during a full moon... there are no words to describe how beautiful it was, lighting up Coral Bay and the ocean beyond.
We enjoyed hiking the Reef Bay Trail, and continued on to Little Lameshur Bay, which was a beautiful beach with excellent snorkeling. Our favorite hike was Ram's Head, as the views were gorgeous. The best snorkeling we experienced was at Waterlemon. Here we saw several spotted eagle rays, a giant bed of star fish, turtles, a nurse shark, and a couple large barracuda. The reef at Waterlemon is very interesting and colorful, with tons to see... just be aware of the current which can be strong on the back side of the cay. We visited the Donkey Diner and Skinnylegs, and enjoyed the casual atmosphere at both. We also had excellent sandwiches at Deli Grotto in Mongoose Junction. St. John is a beautiful island... we can't wait to return! We would give Bay Rum Breeze our top recommendation! -

St James, NYBeautiful New Villa with View to Match
Left on 02/25/2011 for a stay in February 2011
The photos on line looked great, but the villa is even more beautiful in real life. Our jaws were dropping when we walked in. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could want. The countertop was this beautiful, swirly natural stone. The wood beamed ceiling and beautiful tile and furnishings (both inside and outside) are great. The pool was great and the hot tub was state of the art with a really easy to close top. The villa layout is perfect. It's really new, and you can tell everything was well thought out when it was designed. All the bedrooms are the same size and have their own bathrooms with a door leading to an outdoor shower. We really liked the outdoor showers because they have beautiful tile, glass block, and feel more like indoor than outdoor - except you have fresh air and a view! The location is great for the north shore beaches and Coral Bay. It's not far from Cruz Bay either. If you stay here you will not be disappointed.

New City, New YorkA vacation in paradise that we won't forget!

We absolutely loved St. John and staying at Bay Rum Breeze was a big reason for our wonderful vacation. You can't beat the setting of this villa anywhere. Views from practically every window to the East looking out at some of the British Virgin Islands; it is Paradise. We couldn't pass up getting up at sunrise to see the beautiful colors of the rising sun. Just spectacular. The Villa is beautfully decorated and spacious. So many different places to hang out, from the comfortable wrap around couch in the living room, to the study, the star-gazing deck, the outdoor covered deck or by the large pool (I was expecting it to be a lot smaller- you can definitely do laps in this pool!). I didn't think we would love the "outdoor showers" but it was really cool to actually take a shower outside, especially with the beautiful tile and again, that magnificent view; even in the shower! Loved all the beautiful tile, granite, and marble- attention to detail was definitely paid here. There are built in closets in all the bedrooms with beautiful built-in furniture; another unexpected and lovely feature. The kitchen was well designed and it was a pleasure to find everything I needed to cook a gourmet meal.
Loved the location; quiet, somewhat secluded but close enough to some great beaches and cool restaurants. Road to get there a little rough, but so are most of the roads on St John (4 wheel drive necessary).
Absolutely would stay here again!!! Can't wait for our next trip!
