We had the pleasure of staying at Moonswept over spring break with our two kids and had a fantastic time. The house is amazing -- spectacular views from every window, well-appointed and well-equipped with everything we needed for our stay. It was a bit of an adventure getting to it -- not for the faint of heart -- definitely need a 4-wheel drive, but worth every twist and turn to get to this wonderful and private place. The views from the house have to be the best on St. John! We loved using the pool and hot tub in the mornings, and we spent the rest of the time at the beaches. The house is a great location especially if you want to be away from the buzz of Cruz Bay -- the East End is quieter, but we found plenty of great places to eat and really enjoyed the beaches there (especially Salt Pond and Haulover for snorkeling). The house is an easy drive to the other popular beaches such as Cinnamon and Trunk Bay, so it was a great location for us. Dave the caretaker was terrific -- greeted us at the ferry and got us settled into the house and then was available when we needed him with lots of helpful info and suggestions. Can't wait to come back -- hopefully next spring or early summer! Thank you for sharing this gem!!

Moonswept is a gorgeous property with a view that honestly cannot be captured in pictures. The house is designed so that from the first moment you walk in the door, you almost feel like you are floating over Coral Bay and looking on at the near entirety of the BVI. Really beautiful!
The house itself is immaculately maintained has a very high-end feel. The caretaker is very helpful and knowledgeable about St. John and the Virgin Islands in general. The east-end of St. John has a very different feel from the west-end and you really feel like you are getting away from it all. There are great beaches and hiking trails nearby. Buy your groceries in St. Thomas before taking the ferry if you can. Shopping is very limited in Coral Bay, but that is part of its charm. Salt Pond Bay and Little Laheshur Bay are two of the best beaches in all of the Virgin Islands and are easily accessible from Moonswept. The house is near the end of a steep mountain road that requires 4x4. It is a rough ride but it guarantees privacy. I would highly recommend this place who wants to have a sense of adventure and live in luxury at the same time.

Marian and I were very pleased with Moonswept Villa. We have travelled to St. John nearly every year since 2000. While many of the villas we have rented were grander, the simplicity of Moonswept made our stay more pleasant. The view is spectacular. The wildlife was enjoyable to encounter. And our contact, Dave, was extremely helpful. I don't have any complaints, but some may find the drive a little primitive. But then, that's all part of getting to the most gorgeous views in the Caribbean.

The views are spectacular and the villa wonderful as well. We appreciate Garry, Terre, Dave, and Marcus as they are so helpful in ensuring we have a wonderful visit.

We visited Moonswept for the first time in early January and had a lovely week. Dave was very helpful and so nice, he met us at the ferry and expedited our arrival in such a pleasant way. We also had the pleasure of meeting the owners as they were on the island during our stay - good times!
The villa was clean, comfortable, very private, and offered tremendous views. It is designed perfectly for two couples and has any kitchen tool you need. The beds were so comfortable. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub morning, noon, and night. It's worth noting that there were no mosquitoes owing to the constant breezes. Hopefully we will be able to return soon. Thank you for a wonderful and relaxing vacation!

Moonswept has everything for a relaxing, ideal vacation.
We've been to St John and stayed in a couple of villas before, but this was our favorite.
The view, first of all, is enchanting. And sunset is a daily treat without looking straight into the sun..
Dave is a real bonus. He has great insight as well as a great appreciation for privacy.
Loved the hot tub - night and day - as it has a great view too!
Lastly, we are huge fans of the East side of the island - from the venues, to the people and the bays, we really enjoy the slower pace and local flare.
Garry and Terre really know what's important and their efforts shine in every detail. You'll see...

This was our second stay at Moonswept in six months. We had an absolutely wonderful and romantic stay. This visit we enjoyed the villa, the pool and the hot tub significantly more than our first visit. The views were breathtaking and the full moon (while enjoying a refreshing cocktail in the hot tub) was spectacular. If only we could stay longer. Thank you for sharing your magnificent home with us.

Our stay was fabulous! Fantastic! Wonderful! -- the home is georgeous, clean, and full equipped -- we love to cook and made gourmet meals every night to eat while enjoying the fantastic views! Caretaker Dave was so accomodating and made sure we had everything we needed, while giving great guidance about the Island -- We couldn't have needed or wanted anything more -- we would recommend it to anyone!

My husband, daughter, and I stayed here for one week in January. The villa was absolutely amazing -- even more beautiful and breathtaking than the pictures show. Everything was perfect. The location and view were amazing, the amenities were great, furnishing were beautiful, etc. A perfect place!

I can't imagine a better combination in a vacation rental. The villa felt like it was brand-new with a spectacular panoramic view of East End St John and several islands in the BVI, a private pool and hot tub on a beautiful completely private tiled deck, gentle breezes to cool off the heat of the day. All the amenities, full kitchen, stereo, Tv's (never even turned these on!), laundry, comfortable and clean everywhere you looked. Close to Coral Bay and all the awesome beaches. Dave the caretaker is a super nice guy, very knowledgable and helpful with any need and otherwise completely invisible. We just returned to our 'normal' life and are already plotting our return to Moonswept. It doesn't get any better than this. Thanks Garry, Terre and Dave for a fantastic vacation!

We hated to leave. Immaculate villa, all amenities, completely private,
spectacular panoramic views, away from it all. Villa manager David D'Alberto was extremely helpful and kind, meeting our boat, arranging for food delivery, grocery hints and giving us plenty of great tips for our limited vacation time. Hot tub and pool were wonderful, but best of all was the view! Make sure to rent a 4-wheel drive vehicle with good brakes, as the drive up to the villa is a trip to the top of the world! 57592Exceeded expectations. One of the best views on St John

A really pleasant surprise. This was our 9th villa rental on St John and of that list one of the few we would definitely choose to return to. First, comments on the Coral Bay end of the island where this villa is located - our first time staying "on the far side". It's a very different experience to the Cruz Bay/ Chocolate Hole end in that it is much quieter and less developed, which means that it has little in the way of shops and fine dining etc if you are looking for that, and the downtown buzz of Cruz Bay which appeals to many folks is about a 1 hour round trip drive away. Coral Bay does however have several good waterfront bar/restaurants (Island Blues, Aqua Bistro were two we enjoyed and there are several others) and a couple of smallish grocery stores for supplies. All this for us made it a bit like staying on a different, less developed island and a very relaxing experience. We stocked up supplies in one trip to Cruz Bay and then topped up locally, and this worked well for the two of us. There are great hikes here, some really nice and not too crowded beaches and the best snorkeling on St John.
Now the villa. It's a steep bumpy road up but no worse than some other villas we have rented on St John. Usually, these long uphill drives lead to great views and "Moonswept" is no exception - the view is superb. The villa is quite new (5 years old we understand) and has 2 comfortable master bedrooms with en suite baths. The owners have done a great job thoughtfully equipping this villa for rentals. Its nicely furnished, immaculately maintained and well equipped - 3 big flat screen TVs, DVD players etc. Pool furniture is new and great. This villa has a terrific BBQ (with even a light for night time grilling - a "must have" I have decided!). When you are up this high, you get the cooling easterly breezes, which are nice and the owners have situated the villa well so that these breezes alone can cool the house very comfortably - we used aircon only once during our entire stay. The pool is located to the south side of the villa and more sheltered, getting the sun virtually all day if you like that (shade canopy if not) - many villas in St John do not since it is so mountainous. Dave is the on site caretaker (lives downstairs) who will meet you, take you to the villa and give you an excellent orientation and then disappears unless you need him - a great guy and very knowledgeable about St John having lived there for 30 years.
In summary, a great villa for 2-4 people, wonderful views and a quiet location in the less developed part of St John. Not a villa for larger groups or for those who want to be close to the Cruz Bay scene. 4 wheel drive vehicle a must! -

The villa was absolutley fantastic. Clean as a whistle and there was nothing the place didn't have from the cable and flatscreens, pool, patio and hot tub. Even the covered cabana for breakfast or to take an hour out of the sun and relax in those lounge chairs. The kitchen was stocked with everything you would have at home. The caretaker was available when needed to point us to the beaches and attractions (definately make the walk to Rams Head). The privacy the location and landscaping offered were great. The location of the villa in Coral Bay gave us good access to many beaches, Cinnamon Bay, Maho Bay, Francis Bay all offered great beaches but by far my favorite was Salt Pond beach. There were several restaurants right in Coral Bay but by far the nice thing was the availabilty of the grill on the patio to cook a few things at home without going every night! Top notch!

From the first moment you open the front door - the view completely consumes you. It is sooo worth the tad scary drive up the hill :-D. The house is so comfortable and lacks absolutely nothing to assure you have a fabulous trip! Beach chairs, coolers, plenty of towels, a wonderfully outfitted kitchen, etc etc. The pool w/ it's spectacular view - thanks to the clear glass panels make it truly difficult to want to wander the island.We went to the beaches one day - and then decided we were enjoying relaxing by the pool at the house more. You cannot find a better view. We brought food and cooked dinner every night - the gas grill is brand new! I could go on and on...suffice it to say that I've had the opportunity to rent 5 different houses on St John in the past few years - I'll be back to rent this one again as soon as I can find time to get away!

Everything about Moonswept will take your breath away and you will be guaranteed to leave feeling rested and relaxed. If you happen to be there during full moon you are in for an extra treat. Our group did exploring every day but one could easily not leave for a day[s] and be totally happy just enjoying the pool, the view, the hot tub, fully stocked kitchen and great grill etc. plus all those electronic gizmos we have at home.[WiFi, ipod and DVD etc.-hint- you may want to try a day or two without it]. Great host Dave will greet you at the dock and help you with just about anything you can think of. He's a great asset to a wonderful property.
Best beaches although you can't go wrong anyplace-Salt Pond, Little Lamshur, and Francis Bay. Best local restaurants-Aqua Bistro and Miss Lucys.

Second stay at Moonswept. What a wonderful villa. Kitchen is well stocked. New towels in bath and for beach. New cushions for patio furniture. New hot tub! Great improvements made our stay even more enjoyable. The pool can be a little cool but comfortable enough. The view is outstanding! We enjoyed a magical day of watching ominous weather roll in from the East over mountains and Drake Channel and Hurricane Hole. Beware...villa gravity kicks in quickly!

MoonSwept Villa is extraordinary in every way, the view exquisite and everything we could possibly have needed was provided. We stayed for two weeks and loved every moment of being there. The location is on the "quieter" side of the island, which we loved. The kitchen is very well appointed with everything needed to eat in, which we often did. However, there are a number of restaurants nearby.
We loved our stay at MoonSwept Villa and will return again!

Moonswept Villa is an amazing sanctuary with the most stunning views of Coral Bay. The online photos are good, but don't do justice to the breathtaking design and location. This place has all the amenities and a great caretaker on site who gives support when needed and privacy at all other times. The villa is extremely well equipped with all the comforts of home, including two very comfortable beds. The owners are very friendly, accessible and easy to deal with for all issues before, during and after the rental period. We look forward to return visits!

This was an anniversary "surprise" trip that I planned for my wife. After the "climb" up to Moonswept, which was very enjoyable, my wife opened the front door and almost started crying when she looked at the view. As you walk in through the front door, you are hit with the wall of windows and the East end of St. John, with the Bvi's behind that - it is breathtaking. The villa was extremely well equipped and very clean. The outside area was also fantastic and very private. We felt like we were all alone out there. Dave was available and very helpful, but very unobtrusive. If you are looking for a place that is secluded and beautiful, I don't think you'll find anything better. We absolutely loved the Coral Bay side of the island. There was a friendly atmosphere at the restaurants and bars that was very different from Cruz Bay. Cruz Bay is fun, but we always enjoyed driving back to Coral Bay, and after a few days felt as if we were driving "home." Don't be concerned with the drive up to the villa - with a 4WD Jeep it's not a problem - and well worth it. I would recommend this place to anyone - it's fabulous!
