La Bella Villa is on Cedar Lane, in a small "neighborhood" of 7 houses just up the hill from Coral Bay proper. Several of these houses are lived in by permanent residents which makes the area safe and private. However, it is only a 20 minute ride back to Cruz Bay, about a 3 minute ride down the hill to the restaurants, shops and grocery store in Coral Bay, and a 15 minute ride to the famous North Shore beaches. Also, access to the villa is easy...up a slight (but not scary) hill...with a flat, easy-to-access entrance.

La Bella Villa was the perfect spot for our family of 4 to call home during our week on St. John. It is a charming stone house with amazing Caribbean character. Palms swaying, a huge terra cotta veranda, teak doors and shutters, a huge relaxing pool deck, and all the modern comforts and amenities! The views really took our breath away - any time of day! You look right out to the center of Coral Bay which is just enchanting. It took us not more than 10 min. to get to the first of the Northshore beaches - easy drive and of course, just a couple of minutes to all Coral Bay restaurants/shops. The owners and property manager were lovely to deal with...the house was simply love at first sight!

My wife and I spent a week at La Bella Villa on our honeymoon. From start to finish, the trip was relaxing and care free! Nancy (the property manager for the house) and her husband met us on the dock in Cruz Bay. They took us to get our rental jeep and waited while we stocked up at the grocery store. We felt welcome and at ease from the moment she met us! The house is situated a short drive from Coral Bay - not too far from activity but just the right amount of privacy. The porch overlooking the bay got a lot of use whether reading, taking a quick nap or enjoying an afternoon drink. And what a view! Many times did we find ourselves gazing out at the water and taking it all in. The accommodations are fantastic! We particularly both loved the outdoor shower. Proximity to the beaches could not be easier and we had great time in Coral Bay. Shipwreak Landing and Donkey Diner are two of the best restaurants on the island and they are minutes from La Bella Villa's front door! We were just there two weeks ago and can't wait to go back!!

My wife and I recently stayed at La Bella Villa for our honeymoon. Since returning two weeks ago, we have dreamed daily about our time on the island and our stay at this beautiful property.
From the moment we stepped inside, we were completely blown away by La Bella Villa. On all sides of the house are large screened doors which open up to create a wonderfully airy and open feeling. We spent most of our time on the front porch which has a breathtaking view of the crystal clear water and sailboats of Coral Bay. Waking up to this wonderful view each morning wasn't too bad either!
On a practical level, the house is equipped with absolutely everything you would want right down to bottle openers, board games, beach chairs and towels, and a binder full of dining and activity recommendations for St. John.
There are wonderful beaches and restaurants galore on St. John, but visitors to La Bella Villa should be sure to eat at Shipwreck Landing in Coral Bay, spend some time at the wonderful beach of Jumbie Bay and head down to Salt Pond.
We highly recommend La Bella Villa, and are already trying to figure out the next time that we can go back! -

La Bella Villa is architecturally stunning. The stone work and mahogany details along with the perfect view of Coral Bay makes this house the perfect place to unwind and live the slow island life for a while. The outdoor shower becomes a lifestyle...way cool. The house gets a nearly constant breeze up from the Caribbean so no real need for a/C (also keeps bugs away), just ceiling fans on warm nights. The dipping pool is great for cooling off after long hikes or mornings at the beach. It's just up the hill from Skinny Legs, quite possibly the greatest dive bar in the Caribbean. It's a bit of drive to the 'settled' end of the island (Cruz Bay) but Coral Bay offers a slower pace and a bit of a Bohemian feel. We've visited now six times and love the house more and more. The owners are upgrading the property with gates to keep the donkeys out. :) But they weren't a nuisance anyway. The house is nearly perfectly maintained and comfortable, not that we spent a lot of time in it anyway. The East End snorkeling and hiking trails are less trafficked, thus better for those seeking 'off the beaten path' experiences. For 2, 3 or 4 people, this is a fanstastic place to stay.

So, I am not even sure I want to write this review and share this information with anyone else, but this secret hide-away is too good to not rave about.
We love la Bella villa!!!
This beautiful little home hidden away up on a hill with an amazing view, a quiet style and the coveted outdoor shower has us hooked. We try to come back to stay in this wonderful home at least every other year. And the pace of the Coral Bay side of the island/world is one that is hard to tear away from at the end of your vacation. (So much so that we have started extending our vacations by a few more days.)
To be able to wake up to a nice breeze, cup of coffee, and not have to run out to find breakfast, because you have a full kitchen at your disposal, makes the morning one of the most relaxing. We like to plan our day of which coveted beach around the island we want to visit, while we eat breakfast out on the big porch. Then we head off for our morning outing and picnic lunch or favorite lunch spot out. After a late-ish lunch we usually return for a dip in the dipping pool, a nap or some reading time on the porch. Then we shower and head out for a great dinner at one of our favorite dinner spots. If we take a long day out or know we have an early morning adventure the next morning, we like to be able to make dinner at home by either grilling out, or making something we have been craving. (To have the option to stay in or eat out is part of the luxury of this place.)
The beautiful dark wood and island style stone features, private drive, and view, make this place an amazing island home that you do not want to miss. -

La Bella Villa is a true home away from home! We loved the outdoor shower, private pool, and gorgeous view of Coral Bay. Sally and Franz Jaggar have thought of everything when furnishing this lovely home. They gave wonderful suggestions of beaches to visit and restaurants to be sure to try, and helped us with the details of planning our trip. We stayed at La Bella Villa for our honeymoon, and have been back two more times since then to stay. It's a wonderful, private getaway and we plan to go back as soon as possible.

Our vacation at La Bella Villa was the best from the start to the finish. The owners were so helpful in answering all of our questions. The Villa was just perfect for two couples. It was very well kept and had all the comforts of home. We enjoyed eating our meals on the beautiful porch over looking Coral Bay.The sunrises and sunsets were out of this world. We really enjoyed relaxing in the pool after a long day of shopping, hiking, snorkeling, or scuba diving. The girls loved having shopping areas and fantastic resteraunts on both sides of the island. We are looking foward to making a return trip in 2013!
