LondonBest choice for Cinque Terre by far
Left on 10/18/2012 for a stay in August 2012
Corniglia is the smallest of the Cinque Terre villages and by far the one least destroyed by tourism. It's quiet, quaint, relaxing and perfect for a romantic getaway. Keeping in mind you can get to all the other villages either by hiking or a 5 min train ride and it's a no-brainer to stay here.
The view from this apartment is just incredible. Peel back the curtains and overlook the mountains and sea and relax on the small balcony with a glass of wine. There's some beautiful little places to eat and drink in the evenings without hoards of tourists and shops selling tat surrounding you.
We weren't 100% sure about Corniglia before we went, but after having seen all the other villages we were so happy we stayed here. Vernazza is overrated unless you like hustle bustle and a non-stop procession of tourists.
This cosy little apartment is fresh, clean, pretty and boasts a view you will get nowhere else in Cinque Terre. Pure bliss. -

We've enjoyed our stay in Corniglia. The owner of the appartment, Signora Donatella, was really kind and gave us all the necessery information about the region. The appartment is nice and clean and has a beautiful view.
For reaching Corniglia by car, it isn't always very easy, because the road is often small and dangerous. But once arrived, you can leave your car on the private parking area which belongs to Signora Donatelli and travel by train or make beautiful trips near the coast or through the vinyards.
But you must know that Corniglia is the only village who cannot be reached by boat and when you go by train, you have to climb up nearly 400 stairs to reach the village.
I suggest a stay in Corniglia for those who are a little bit sportive and who don't fear mountain-tours ;) -

This spacious, clean one bedroom apartment with kitchen suited our family (couple plus 14 year old child) perfectly. We had no problem connecting with the woman an who gave us our key, who was very nice, helpful, and had an amazing ability to communicate despite speaking very little English. There are more expensive places in Corniglia with better views but we enjoyed seeing the slice of Mediterranean from both windows, and the terrace was wonderful. The apartment is right above a cafe that has outdoor seating and is open until midnight, so if you want silence at 10 pm, it might not be the best choice. We loved the vey small town feel of Corniglia, but be aware that the shuttle bus from the train station only runs until 7 pm. After that, the 365 stairs are the only option back to the apartment from the station. We had a wonderful time using this apartment as a base for exploring Cinque Terre.

Donatella was very welcoming and friendly.
The apartment was clean and reasonably comfortable for the two of us and had great views of the valley and ocean from the apartment and the 3rd floor roof terrace. A proper 2 seater lounge for TV viewing would have been good.
A drying clothes line or airer on the roof terrace would have been good for drying under garments which we were reluctant to hang out for all to see on the clothes line outside the apartment windows which faced the Piazza and the bar below. A washing machine/dryer would have been very useful. For us a toaster and an electric kettle would also have been very good. -

Going nowhere fast!Pleasant but spartan appartment, great view but noisy.
Left on 07/14/2012 for a stay in July 2012
Check in couldn't have been smoother along with the allocated parking but after the seriously torturous road down the side of a cliff to Corniglia, personally, if staying again, I'd park the car in La Spezia and take the fifteen minute €4 Euro train ride and €1.20 minibus that links the station and village square.
The apartment is pretty Spartan with a combi microwave and 2 ring gas hob to cook with. the shower is of the ludicrously small 60 cm variety full of so many sticky out bits its almost impossible to get in and shut the door! It has a nice little terrace but the downside is that this part of the village is not car free. I also overlooked the vuillages rubbish bins, so every morning you had the procession of delivery vans, reversing beepers followed by about four different bin lorry's for the different recyclable material bins. Right below the window. You could smell the garbage truck too on occasions. Evenings were quieter and it was a great place to enjoy a glass of wine overlooking the sea.
After having stayed for a week in Corniglia and walked all the paths linking the different Cinque Terre villages, I can honestly say that Corniglia is by far the nicest. Why? Because it doesn't have a trip boat quay and is spared the inundation of thousands of day trippers. You get walkers ambling through at midday but that's about it. None of the restaurants are really very good in town, serving very touristy and quite expensive 'Italian' food. If you can make it to it's little harbour, it is possible to swim but entrance /exit from the water is very difficult.
Would I stay there again? Yes, but would prefer an apartment deep inside the pedestrianised village. There lies tranquillity. -

Left on 07/04/2012 for a stay in June 2012
We stayed at this apartment for three nights and enjoyed our stay very much. It is located right next to the central square and bus station which is very convenient. The apartment is very clean , the beds are reasonably comfortable and the kitchen is we equipped. The best part about this apartment the magnificent view from the upstairs balcony where we spent every evening at. The only downside is the lack of air-conditioning so beware if you are traveling there in the summer.

I would highly recommend apartment Cicci in Corniglia. Located right near the town square the apartment has fabulous views over the ocean. The apartment is compact but has everything you need and is very clean. Shopping at the nearby deli and then cooking our own dinner to enjoy while admiring the views made for a wonderful holiday!! A great location to access the walks of the beautiful Cinque Terre.

Left on 01/17/2012 for a stay in June 2011
Stayed here last June and it was just wonderful, Corniglia is the smallest of the villages but my favourite by far, everything about it is beautiful. The apartment had everything you would need, would of been a plus if there were more towels and tea towels but we did manage just fine with what we had. Checking in was a little tough but this is only because my Italian is not the best, so I hope to be able to do better next time, the lady who checked us in was lovely and very patient. We were on the ground floor apartment so did not have a balcony but we had access to the terrace on the top floor which we had all to ourselves as the first floor apartment had it's own balcony, I actually prefered this as the views were amazing and it got more sun so was warmer. Can't wait to go back!!

We stayed in Corniglia for 3 evenings. The view from the deck was our very favorite thing about our entire trip. To sit up on that deck and watch the sun go down, and watch the sun come up, was the very best thing in the world.
The lady who managed the apartment could not have been more charming. She spoke no English and we spoke no Italisn, yet we managed to understand each other perfectly.

We stayed in Corniglia for 3 nights toward the end of a 6 1/2 week stay in Italy. It was a memorable long weekend which left us looking forward to a quick return to Italy and to the Cinque Terre, specifically. When we do return, we will definitely try to stay at apartamento Cicci again. A breathtaking view to wake up to every morning, and an incredible value. One could hardly ask for more, but you get more in the form of the lovely owner, who made us feel at home not only in the apartment but in this charming town. We've been back in the States only a couple of weeks and my kids are already asking to return. Thanks to arbaspaa for making this lovely weekend possible.

It was an absolute delight to stay at this property. We had the smaller of the 2 available but we all fitted really well. 2 kids (12 + 15) and 2 adults. The views are exceptional and better than shown in the photo's. The location was brillian 30m from town square really nice spot. We really relaxed and would recommend for a 2 - 3 day stay!

Left on 08/05/2011 for a stay in July 2011
Corniglia is the smallest of the 5 towns- but we love it. We came there directly after Flirenza so a lovely decompression site!- our apartment was nicely situated- right by the "town sq" and close to main drag (as it were).
Nice windows and breeze, adequate kitchenette - my sister's room across the square has a little bit nicer porch though.
what would have been helpful was to have some direction about taking the little green bus from the train station (for 1.5 Euro) rather than lugging our bags up the hill. My suspicion is that Mrs Monti speaks quite good English but I bet one month there and you;d be speaking some kind of Italian. -

Left on 07/07/2011 for a stay in June 2011
The room was right in the middle of Corniglia with an super view of the sea from the terrase, offered in the room. We were very satisfied by the check-in. This is the smallest village of all five but problably the one that you fall in love immediately. Only one suggestion for the owner, A/C in the room would be better for summer time.
Thank you,

LondonGreat views,quiet evenings,noisy mornings & ill-equipped kitchen
Left on 06/22/2011 for a stay in June 2011
Positives:
Great views. Wonderful to sit on the balcony and eat dinner while watching the sun go down.
Right in the centre of the small town, close to amenities.
Clean and spacious for 2 people.
Quiet in the evenings.
Negatives:
Landlady does not speak a word of English, check in was interesting indeed but we managed.
The main problem was the poorly equipped kitchen. There is no microwave, no oven, no spatula, no knives other than bread knives, no chopping boards. It made cooking even simple dishes a bit challenging.
Corniglia train station is 365 steps away from the main town, or you can catch the Cinque Terre park bus up and down the hill to get around (€1.50). But the bus only runs from 7.15am to about 8/9pm. So if you are arriving late with suitcases keep in mind you'll have to carry them up the winding road, or up the 365 steps.
The flat is very noisy in the morning as the garbage truck comes to empty the towns rubblish bins every other day and they are located across the road from the flat. Earplugs recommended.
The apartment is hot at night so a fan would've been nice to assist sleep.
The double bed in the bedroom was actually two twin beds pushed together which isn't ideal for a couple but probably a plus for a group of friends renting the apartment.
We found the restaurants to not be as good in Corniglia as they were in the other towns.
Despite all the negatives, we very much enjoyed our stay at apartment Cicci.

Left on 06/14/2011 for a stay in June 2011
We stayed here early June 2011 and found this village a lovely place to stay while we explored the Cinque Terra for a few days. Our apartment was in a great location with wonderful views to the sea, comfortable rooms and ability to cook our own food if needed. Corniglia is a peaceful, quiet village and the place to stay for those visiting the Cinque Terra who want an authentic experience away from the hordes of tourists who crowd the other towns in summer. For those keen to explore on foot the scenic walks on the Cinque Terra note that for this season the track between Manarola and Corniglia was blocked due to a land slide. This necessitated a hillside climb of a couple of hours compared to 20 minutes to get between these 2 towns but the views are well worth it.

Best town to stay in out of the 5 Cinque Terre villages. The little village was quaint and peaceful compared to the others. The apartment was spacious for the two of us. There is a bar below the apartment and lots of chatter going on at night and morning. We actually enjoyed hearing the different languages and it was somewhat soothing. Several restaurants in Corniglia. Also 2 little grocery stores to buy food to prepare in apartment. We had use of a terrace on top floor. Gorgeous view of Italian Riviera. Owner was very accommodating, even though she spoke no English, we managed to communicate.

The rooms were very clean, lots of room. Full kitchen. Nice terrace upstairs for our use. The only negative to staying in Corniglia is that the trains don't always stop there. Sometimes you have to wait an extra 30-60 min for a train that stops in Corniglia and Monterolla. I love Cinque Terre, have been there twice and would love to go back.
