We found this house very comfortable and roomy. We had 7 adults and 5 children and there was plenty of space. Loved the screened in porch off of the Living Room. It was our coffee room! Walk to the beach was good. Children did not complain. Great week!
Love the Outerbanks!
Unmaintained and too old to clean

Location very good and bed/matress quality was good. The house is old and in need of renovations, which one can see in the photos. I don't mind old as long as it is clean. But it was not. Carpeting was severely stained and only the middle of the rooms were vacuumed. Years of dirt lined the walls and was easily seen everywhere. The mattress protectors and pillows were also severely stained. Throw pillows were crusted over with food. The pool equipment was broken. Some of the upholstery was so dirty, we had the rental company come remove it so the kids wouldn't sit in it. These were old pieces that should have been replaced years ago. Yuk!! The dishwasher liner kept falling out, causing us to take time out of vacation to arrange repairs. There is a drainage problem near the decking leading to the pool gate causing the kids to slip and fall on their way to the pool. The whole house needs to be renovated because the dirt has been there too long to be properly cleaned. The owners are clearly not investing in this property and just milking it. Wouldn't surprise me if they have been trying to sell it. If they had a better cleaning service or a better inspector from the rental agency who would replace items before guests arrive, it might work, but they don't. It is a neglected property. Find something better at that price. Read more

Thank you for your candor in posting on FlipKey. It is disappointing to hear that you were not happy with your accommodations and the level of cleanliness. Each house is of course deep cleaned prior to each rental season, and we have a list of items that are covered each and every week. Your comments were sent to our housekeeping department for their review.
I do see that a work order was entered while you were here regarding the pillows and dishwasher. I'm glad that you let us know, as we always welcome calls from our guests and the opportunity to provide a timely resolution to requests. Repairs and updates are frequently made in the off season, and we will certainly bring your suggestions for improvement to the owners. Thanks again and we hope to assist you with your vacation needs again.

Location was good, outside showers and decks were great. Without going into detail - lets just say that housekeeping and maintenance on this property were sorely lacking. Read more

We traveled to OBX for the first time for a family vacation in august of 2012 and stayed for 1 week at Lands End. We feel it was a great choice for us. There was plenty of room in the house for the 10 of us (5 adults and 5 children). The beach access is very convenient. having the private pool at the house made for some relaxing post beach afternoons. Plenty of different bedroom layouts for everyone to choose from and the house was very clean. The only worry would be that there were planty of staircases to navigate!
The kitchen was very dated and the appliances were in poor worki

The location of the home was great. The layout was wonderful. The kitchen was below par. The dishwasher didn't work and only 2 burners on the stove worked. We were very disappointed in the home because of the kitchen. Read more

Thank you for your review of "Lands End" and the stove problem. We do want you to know the stove was replaced and should be fine for the 2013 season. We hope you will come back and enjoy cooking in the kitchen and all the amenities that The Villages of Ocean Hill has to offer.
Nice property that provided a lot of fun for our group.

We have a good bit of experience renting in the Corolla/Pine Island area. This was a nice house for the group that stayed there. Not great, but nice. The kitchen is way too small for a large group of people, as is the main living area (enough furniture and seating, but pretty crowded. The pool are was very nice; quiet and secluded, as was the hot tube. One of the burners on the stove did not work, and the refrigerator did not keep food very cold... Contacted maintenance, but to my knowledge they never responded to complaint. Read more

We're sorry about the stove and refrigerator, but I did not see any work orders in there for those items during your stay or after. It is possible the owner fixed them himself, but we have had no complaints since to my knowledge.
Great location, comfortable and well equipped home.

This home is well equipped, comfortable and has good access to the beach. The pool is a good size, also well equipped with patio furniture.
