We had a wonderful time but the house was not that clean. The sofa in the main living area was gross. There were also cobwebs on fans ect.. And plenty of leaves by the pool and car port. The master shower had mold in the tub area. House had a great layout and if was cleaner would probably rent again. We r comparing to windswept which we rented three years ago and that was a very clean house. Read more

I have to say that the first time we rented this house it was fine. This time it was not enjoyable. The third day in the house my sister was bitten by a snake in the pool. She was on a raft and the snake bit her. She went to the Fire Department and they could not identify the snake and sent her to Kill Devil Hills Emergency Room. It was not poisonous but took a while to identify. After she was bit I called Resort Realty to ask them to send someone over to get the snake and the response was "We have 500 rentals and we will put in a work order" Meanwhile I told them she was on her way to the ER. The pool guy came and after my husband caught the snake he drove him to the Fire Department so they could see the snake. I didn't hear from the Resort Realty so I called back and said " I hope everything is ok with your sister." I'm sorry but if I owned a house or represented someone that owned a rental I would have been a lot more concerned then Resort Realty was. No one used the pool the rest of the time and I was truly upset about how this was handled. I will not be back again with my family. Read more

Overall, Octopus Garden was perfect for our two families. The walk to the beach was not bad at all. Our court was very quiet - met learned that there were several year-round residents there. The house was adequately stocked with everything we could possibly need, including lots of movies and games for the kids. For a beach house, it was pretty clean. Some signs of wear and tear, but overall clean. The exterior could use a cleaning and some weed removal. Also the pool was not cleaned during our stay. In past houses, we'd received a mid-week pool cleaning. As for comfort, the only complaint we had was that the beds were all really uncomfortable. We enjoyed our stay, but really missed our beds! We would definitely consider renting the house again.

Overall the house was okay. It was big enough for all of us and the layout was nice. We never felt like we were on top of each other. The inside was fairly clean one of the bathrooms had a sticky floor. There was a cockroach and lots of ants upstairs near the rear deck door. The pool was a good size and the hot tub was fine too. The kitchen was stocked with pots and pans, dishware, and utensils. If you plan on having crab legs I suggest bringing crackers because the house does not have them, you also need to bring your own Tupperware, and very basic spices.
The beach is not far, for the people who say it was too far to walk must be really lazy. I would say at most it was two very short blocks. The house has a hand buggy, wagon, 2 chairs and an umbrella. The wagon and buggy made getting the cooler, chairs and toys to the beach really easy.
The outside of the house was dirty; the yard is completely unmanaged, with weeds growing around the pool, and sand everywhere. The grill is similar to what you would find at a state park; however this particular grill is in desperate need of replacement. I would suggest bringing a portable gas grill if you have one.
Thanks so much for taking the time to review "Octopus Garden" and your vacation experience. Resort Realty does appreciate hearing from our guests, as their comments are vital for us to continue improving our service and our homes. We are always happy to pass on suggestions to the homeowners and, we be sure to do so regarding the crab crackers, Tupperware, grill, and landscaping. Thanks again, and we look forward to seeing you again in the near future.

Great open floor plan with private bath and bedroom areas. Pool, Hot tub and pool table make entertaining a breeze. Short walk to beach and tennis courts. Needs a large outdoor table and chairs off kitchen to enjoy meals outside.
Overall, we had a great relaxing vacation.

We got this place as a last minute replacement (supposed to go to Hatteras but cancelled due to hurricane). House was great and met all our needs. Pool, hot tub and billards table were all good. These was a very nice community pool also. The ocean was a little bit of a hike but the boardwalk over the dunes made up for it. Saw a lot of wildlife right around the house - frogs, turtles, deer, fox. It was covenient to have two grocery stores five minutes in either direction. Corolla is a little bit busier than we are used to, but not as busy as Nag's Head. People making reservations were helpful and friendly. Check-in and check-out was the easiest we have ever had. The only drawbacks were no ocean view and service. We had problems with internet service and the a/C adjustments. Called to report it, but no one came out or called back.
