Nice house, well-maintained and big enough for 2 families with 3 kids each. I prefer to be closer to the beach, but you're never too far in Whalehead. Traffic coming across causeway and north on 12 through Duck starts earlier every year. To avoid it, you really need to be here by mid-morning.
OBX First Timers
Great family vacation spot

Camelot was the perfect spot for an extended family vacation. The proximity to the private beach (10 min walk) was great and the parking lots next to the beach access walkways were a nice bonus if you had many items to take to the beach.

R&R; at Camelot

Being a return visitor to OBX, staying at Camelot was overall a nice experience. We did hope that the promised wi-fi that was to be available would've worked, but wasn't functioning because of previous tenant. Cd/stereo that was a promised amenity at the house did not function and was supposed to be replaced as it couldn't be fixed, too old, but that didn't happen. Thankfully one of the relatives brought a docking system for her Ipod! Two of the couples that slept in queen size beds had complaints of poor mattresses that would benefit from replacement. Said it was like sleeping on a marshmellow. Hot tub kept going to an "EC Mode" on some timer which kept cooling it down so we couldn't even use it on Sunday, but thankfully pool guy came on Monday and got it hot again. Last complaint, the pans in kitchen could use some replacement. There's a lot of no-stick with no "stick" left and you feel like you might be eating some coating as it's coming off! So, you think we didn't have fun, but overall, it was a nice house with a good layout and the 12 of us had plenty of room and privacy when wanted. The deck was in good shape, no loose boards or nails popping to hurt your feet and loved the shade of the tiny turret. Stayed on Corolla Drive before and the location of the house was fine in proximity to the beach as it was close to the end road for beach access, but not too busy with traffic! Would have rebooked this property at the time of our stay had the issues we mentioned earlier been addressed when we went and spoke to the Resort Realty Office. It would benefit everyone if the properties promised amenities were thoroughly checked prior to next tenant arriving, just like maid service is performed. Sort of felt like we didn't get everything we paid for, but going to OBX is a dose of relaxation we're addicted to. Still waiting for response from first survey to Resort Realty about these issues. I would recommended this property if problems rectified!
Property needs maintenance and updates.

While all the staff of Resort Realty were very nice, I was not impressed with the upkeep of the property. Items that were listed were not functional and the kitchen was not as well equipped as other homes we have rented. The TV and stereo in the living room did not work. A couple of the mattresses are worn out and need to be replaced. Nice pool and good location, but not a good value for the money.
what a beautiful week

We have been staying on the outer banks for the last 20 years, and this was a fabulous week. The weather was fantastic and the house made our week even more relaxing. Our family has expanded over the years, so the house offered plenty of room and sleeping arrangements for our college age children and beyond. We had a baby with us and the high chair and porta crib came in handy. The pool was great, but the hot tub unfortunately did not work. The part never came in ( they ordered it a week and half ago) That was a major disappointment!!!The beds were comfortable and the kitchen offered plenty of seating room and cooking space. The picnic table on the deck offered a cool breeze and a nice ocean view ( even though we were three streets back) The house had lots of chairs and boogie boards and a great grill. We would recommend and stay at this house again.

Clean, lovely and an easy walk to the beach.

Camelot is our favorite vacation destination. We
have returned there several times and are never
disappointed. The home is well-maintained and has
lots of space for family togetherness or quiet when
you need a little time to escape and read a book,
take a snooze, etc. My teenagers love the second
living/game area on the ground floor so they can
stay up late laughing and playing when we go to
bed. We have a developmentally disabled child who
is ambulatory but tires easily, so the close
proximity to the beach is a real perk. The cake we
received from the owner's upon our arrival was a
lovely, welcoming touch. We can't say enough about
our wonderful stays at Camelot and can't wait for
an opportunity to return!
OBX every year

Camelot was exactly as we expected a nice clean home that was well maintained. The kitchen could have been better stocked and could have had a few more pieces of cookware to handle large groups.Maybe a 2nd dishwasher? WiFi is a must today and a home without it is behind the times. The only problems we had were with Resort Realty. We purchased the linen package which I understand does not make bunk beds. But the dirty sheets should still have been removed from the beds and taken away. Also we had a large storm Sunday Evening that put hundreds of little black bugs that kept crawling into the pool and dyeing. I scooped them out as best I could with the skimmer but they would come back every night. GROSS. I called Resort and to my surprise they were closed on Wednesday. Closed in the OBX during the busiest week of the Summer, 4th of July week? Now I left a message but received no call back on Thursday. I called Thursday 3 times and spoke to 3 different people and finally someone called me back and said the pool would get cleaned on FRIDAY. So I didn't contact anyone and went with the flow and let it go. They clean the pool Friday and it looks like they didn't even vacuum it. If I were the homeowners I would use another service. We basically lost the use of the pool for a couple of days. We read the comments book in the home and people are thankful for the gift that they received for their stay. We must have been left out as the comments were only a few weeks old and we never received any gift,a first for us in the OBX for 7 seasons. We would stay at Camelot again but we would have to maybe shy away from it as I had a bad experience with Resort Realty. This was our first time with Resort and it does not compare with the levels of service we received from a much smaller agency for years. The Outer Banks are beautiful and Camelot was a nice home, say for a few issues with the rental agency.
