On paper, this house is great. Nice pool. Perfect number of rooms & beds for our extended family. Good location & fairly easy walk to a beautiful beach. Unfortunately, property needs maintenance. Ground floor smells like mildew (health issue if someone has allergies) and is buggy due to an exterior door that doesn't seal properly. Pretty sure there was a mouse in the house (heard scratching sounds in the wall at night). Needs mowing. Had to walk around the house through foot tall grass to get from the hose and outside shower to the one door with keyless entry. House phone number given to us by agent wasn't correct (though they insisted it was). When we checked in shortly before 4, we were told the house might not be ready till 6 due to cleaning issues. After a 10 hour trip, the last 2 hours of which were spent in a traffic jam, we were told they'd call us and to go shopping or out to eat (which we had just done). Drove by the house and saw the cleaning crew on their way out, so went back to realtor. After making a call, they agreed to let us check in. Be advised - check-in is 4-6:00. They made it clear to us that we had no reason to expect a 4:00 check-in. Read more
Response from Resort Realty Outer Banks - 11/26/2012
We appreciate your review of "Hannah's Cabana", now christened "Another Day at the Beach". The house underwent an ownership change. With new owners there are improvements and changes. We think if you come back you will be pleased with what the new owners have done. We are very sorry your check in time was after 4:00 pm. It does state in the lease that check in begins at 4. If the houses are ready, then we are happy to allow you entry prior. Unfortunately, sometimes the cleaners have encountered problems, which delays them getting on to their next house. We hope you will come back and check out what has been done at "Another Day at the Beach".
We had a very nice time.

The place was very nice. Some things needed updated. We had looked forward to using the gas grill, but it did not work.

well it was very nice except when we had a problem with the one bathroom sink leaking and the pool needed a cleaning it was not cleaned when we came on Sat. Someone told us they would be there one day and we stayed home all that day and no one came. The next day someone finally came when we got on the phone and told them we were going to leave if our problems were not taking care of.

Perfect sized house for our families

Price, location and size of house were on target for our families. Pool and hot tub were well kept. Floor plan is perfect for entertaining and sleeping. Full size refrigerator in the game room was a big help. Needs some attention to carpet, kitchen/bath cabinets and shrub maintanance (curb appeal).
Coffman Review of Hanna's Cabana
Have never had a worse house or experience in 24 years

Be honest in advertising. If a home is for sale, make the owners responsible for the upkeep! We have been renting homes in the Outer Banks for 24 years and this was our worst experience! I beg you to please read all of our comments! We are looking in to contacting the Better Business Bureau!
Spent over $5,000 to stay there for two weeks. Home was described as having a hot tub. The hot tub was the equivalent of taking a hot bath and the individuals who came to try to fix it agreed. Tech said that she would try to get a new pump. We never saw them again. Sometimes it worked; sometimes it would not even start up!
No games / videos / books / bikes / boogie boards / etc. Not all tvs were hooked up to cable. The VCR & DVD player on the ground level did not work! Hoop, but no basketball. A marsh near the home that should have been listed in the advertisements. Bugs and frogs were horrible.
The home was filthy on arrival. The bathrooms were disgusting and the floors were dirty. We swept out the closet and kitchen floor before we put anything away in the kitchen.
Not all the beds were madel. We were informed that we would get a refund--still waiting...
Ground level smelled like must and mildew. The freezer had leaked all over the carpet. The solution was to keep spraying some type of air freshener to 'mask' the odor. A fan was finally placed in the room with carpet fibers flying everywhere. We had to call to get someone to come back to clean it up. We feel that this was a very unhealthy situation with all of the mildew.
Upstairs master bath--fan kept leaking water from the air conditioner. We called about this a couple of times.
Lots more that wouldn't fit!
Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the beach.

The people at Resort Reality were always helpful. We really enjoyed our stay at the house and having access to a pool was great with samll children. The two issues we had with the house were an overgrown lawn (over a foot tall) and the need for an exterminator (spiders). The best part was being close to the beach but also having a pool in your backyard.
Nice home in quiet area

10 of us stayed in Hannah's Cabana for a week and for the most part felt the house served its purpose. The beach wasn't too far.
There were plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms for everyone. The pool was nice and it was nice to have a kitchen area in the basement as well as upstairs.
Negative comments: The bedspreads were not very clean... some had stains. (I was glad we opted to bring our own sheets) The previous guests had broken the love seat downstairs and left a plywood homemade offensively painted makeshift bar in the driveway. The lock box on the front door made coming in and out of the house a complete pain.
