This house looks like it used to be a really nice place, but obviously it had not been rented in a long time. There was an insect problem that had obviously been addressed as the kitchen window sill was covered with a white powder. We had to wash the mattress pads before we could sleep on the beds because they were filthy. The house smelled very musty/moldy when we first came in and all the counters and kitchen appliances had to be cleaned before use. The laundry facility was very dank and dark. The washing machine and dryer were very old, but worked really well, thankfully. Once we got the place cleaned up (after a day or two of cleaning) it was comfortable enough. The house just needs some TLC and some new carpet (or at least a deep clean), some new beds and some paint. The upstairs shower was a nice surprise. The house was a little too far from the beach for our comfort and enjoyment. Read more

Jon's Place was a home away from home!

We truly enjoyed our stay at Jon's Place during our recent vacation in Corolla on the Outer Banks. It was conveniently located between the Currituck Lighthouse and the Northern Beaches where the wild horses roam. The kitchen was fully equipt and the master shower was a dream! It was tucked away in its own little cove and you felt a sense of privacy that was lacking in most of the other homes. It was perfect for our family that includes a border collie. He loved being able to be included! thank you for a wonderful stay.
Obx Vacation Stay

We loved our stay in OBX, the house was perfect for us 4 adults and our 2 dogs. The house was very clean upon arrival and offered everything we could of possibly needed while on vacation. For me the bonus was the 1990's tv's through out the house which kept my husband disconnected from his apple tv and at the mercy of cable with commercials. I would also like to thank the owners for having the Nagshead patio furniture out on the porch we loved it so much that we bought some and are having it shipped to us in CT. We spent every evening out on the porch off of the living room and enjoyed the sounds of nature. If you have no pets no worries, you would never know that a dog has been here! My only suggestion for the owners would be to add outdoor lighting to make it easier to see the stairs and update the mattress in the bedroom off of the livingroom.

The house is in transition but it is lacking amenities that other homes have. There were ants in the kitchen and a general mismatched design. No beach chairs, volleyball, basketball, etc. - nothing. The Washer and Dryer were separate from house and the washer did not work. Carpet needs to be replaced on 2nd level. Resort Realty staff was rude and did not assist with a maintenance request we submitted for the ants and ligh bulbs. Read more

A Little Piece of Heaven

I have stayed at Jon's Place numerous times and always look forward to going back. It is the perfect place to stay to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and really vacation. It is located in a quaint and quiet neighborhood - great for bike riding and just a short walk to the beach or the beautiful grounds of the Currituck Lighthouse. There is a good variety of restaurants and shopping located close by - some of which you can easily walk to. The beach house is very comfortable and equipped with everything that you need. At the end of the day you can relax on the upper deck as you watch the lights of the Currituck Lighthouse. Jon's Place is a little piece of heaven here on earth and I can't wait to go back!
House was fine, but TVs, Dvds and vb court werent satisfactory.

Website showed a nice, clean vb court, but when we got there it was over-grown with weeds. We called on the 2nd day and nobody came to clean it until Thursday; even then it was still full of weeds. On check-in day, they painted one of the bedrooms - the room was overcome with fumes making the room unlivable for the first two days. The number of DVD players did not match the advertised amount. Tvs were very small. Carpet was stained. Outside shower hadn't been cleaned in quite a while.
JON's Place needs some attention to make it a GREAT vacation hom

This home had a great room layout for us and we LOVED the location. The upgraded baths and kitchen were super. We had great times playing games and eating at the picnic style dining table - that was an awesome idea of a way to seat a lot of people. The wireless internet worked perfectly and was much appreciated.
Despite the good points, there were some important issues that should NOT be overlooked if you want to rent this house to someone for a 2nd time:
1) The bed mattresses were horrible. We had age ranges from 16 - 56 staying in all of the beds and everyone had a horrible experience with the mattresses. When you sit down on the twin mattresses, you literally go down to the boxspring. We would never re-rent the house for this reason alone.
2) The carpet is filthy. NOT JUST DIRTY BUT FILTHY. None of the group was willing to even walk on the carpet bare-footed - a bummer at the beach.
3) The Futon cover is FILTHY and DISGUSTING. Thank goodness we had been given extra sheets to cover it with but that was a hassle for sitting.
4) Not enough seating in the living area (with the TV). I would recommend smaller furniture and more seating. You could definitely fit 2 couches in the living room if they were not the ones with the huge arms. There was only seating for FOUR people in a 4 bedroom house - definitely not adequate. Althouh we spent most of our time on the beach we did gather at night. We would not re-rent for this reason alone.
Hope you take these comments to heart. You could have a GREAT house if you take care of the problems.
