We had such a wonderful experience at Nanny's sunset. We highly recommend this property. There was a nice playground accross the street. We rented bikes and a kayak from the club house. It was very convenient. The kitchen was nicely stocked. It made cooking easy for the week.
Would you recommend this vacation rental to a friend?
Outstanding and memorable

This is our first time coming down to OBX and it will not be the last. This home was everything we thought it should be. The only thing that we suggest because we are a big group, there should be access to a gas grill. We had to rent one for the week. Thank you very much for allowing us to enjoy your home

This house was perfect. Huge kitchen and living area on top floor, with a great wrap around deck for sunsets. Second floor had four bedrooms and bottom floor had a bedroom with four beds, a pool table in open area and walk out to pool and hot tub. Couldn't have asked for more. Walk to the beach in .4 miles.
All was good

Mold at a/C supplies, dryer too noisy . This is the second year and next year I'll have to find a place a little more affordable. However I do enjoy this house
Nice house but lacking cleanliness.

The house was nice, however, the house was very lacking in the cleanliness department. We had a baby and the top of his feet were black from crawling on the floor. Would have expected carpet to be cleaned for beginning of season. We stuck to the kitchen floor before we even used the kitchen, there were dirty plates in the cupboard, refrigerator had stuff on handle and outside I had to clean. Pictures showed a dock, however it belonged to the house next door, crabbers were disappointed. There was a copperhead snake or cottonmouth on the strap of the hot tub, next people should be careful with children. Read more
Response from Resort Realty Outer Banks - 07/12/2013
Thank you for your feedback. We are very sorry you had some concerns and thank you for bringing them to our attention! I have forwarded your review to our housekeeping department. The house is of course deep cleaned including the carpets prior to each rental season, and we have a list of items that are covered each and every week. Please let us know of such disappointments while you're here so we can work to remedy them for you.
We apologize that you feel the home was misrepresented because of the dock. I have changed the aerial picture and moved the marker so that this looks more clear. Thank you for selecting Resort Realty, and we look forward to your future stays with us!

This is a fantastic rental property! Multiple handicap-friendly suites (3rd floor king and 2nd floor queen) were very nice. The club benefits were a real bonus - we rented kayaks for really cheap and paddled up the Sound to see the Corolla lighthouse one afternoon (took less than an hour round trip). Short walking distance (under 5 minutes) to beach access was great for jaunts to the ocean in the afternoon. Close to historical Corolla as well as the Food Lion/shops. Fantastic bird watching (the osprey were nested on the community dock!!) Downsides: no heated pool (and it was a little cold); no easy sound access (no steps or private dock); no premium channels and lots of very small tvs. Best pro of all: Nightly sunsets to watch during dinner.
Delightful multi-family vacation home with the best of the sound

The service was timely, user-friendly and professional. We all loved the home. There were five families with toddlers and it worked great. We loved the decks and close by ocean access. We were right across the street from a terrific playground and kiddie pool. The resort rentals for bikes and kayaks was terrific too. We couldnt of asked for much more.

The keyless entry was great with the noon check-in. Some damage following the hurricane made it extremely difficult to use the only grill provided. The grass was long between the fence and the water so it wasn't possible to lay by the water. The cleanliness and tidyness of the kitchen and bathrooms left alot to be desired. We had to call numerous times for housekeeping problems. The used female protection found in one of the bunk beds was not welcome at all! The beds were very soft as was the living room furniture, not exactly the most comfortable for resting. Resort realty office was outstanding with a special thanks to Rick and Billie Jo. Kitchen had plenty of dishes and equipment for any occassion. The sunsets were wonderful, beautiful and so relaxing. Large amounts of good times and partying made this week so relaxing with family, in-laws and friends. All in all, I would recommend this house to anyone who wants a relaxing vacation in a quiet area.
Nice Home... Needs a Few Things
Left on 08/31/2011 for a stay in August 2011 | LTA
Giving home a 4 star as it needs just a few upgrades and improvements. Maybe I'm nitpicking, but I'll give my opinion. Dealing with Resort Realty and the whole rental process was a snap. Website and account access was easy to use and paperwork for rental(lease/insurance)was easily accessible and printable.
As far as the house:
Had to vacuum top floor(kitchen/dining room area) and make ground floor bunk beds; despite cleaning person on location upon our arrival(all beds were supposed to be made as part of the rental).
The refrigerators in the house should be upgraded as they are old and not large enough to handle food for a large family for a weeks rental. They took forever to get cold. Dishwasher and clothes dryer should be replaced as well; they did function however. The dishes and some glassware were put back in the cabinet seemingly still dirty and some still wet after cleaning. According to the women in our group, the kitchen could have been cleaned better. Ceiling airvents should be cleaned thorougly as cobwebs and dust have formed. Not that big of a deal for me, but the women took notice.
Love the fact that the house has an elevator. That was used often.
All in all it is a nice home and I love the fact that its on the sound side, yet withing walking/biking distance to the beach. The whole development is nice and quiet. Pool and hot tub worked out well for the entire family. They were both cleaned and maintained once upon our arrival, and then again mid-week.
I wish that the property had a dock to walk out onto the sound. The adjacent properties had this, which made my kids jealous.

House was large enough to accomodate our extended family but not up to cleanliness par. Air vents were very dirty and we did not get prompt service when requesting them to be cleaned(asthma). "We don't clean windows", well with a beautiful soundfront view such as the one we had, they should be cleaned by the service, not us. Mold on the bathroom curtain and they came and sprayed heavily with a bleach cleanser, why not a new liner? 4 lamps including the master bathroom shower needed new lightbulbs. Master bedroom bed was not made. This was our first year using Resort Realty and the house was beautiful but for it being so early in the season and costly we were disappointed.

The location right on the bay was perfect. The pool, the hot tub, the game room were all great, and there was something for everyone in our group which ranged in age from 8 to 84. The two refrigerators were necessary, and the kitchen was well stocked. The elevator was a must for one person in our group, but it was convenient for loading luggage. I would stay here again!

Overall our experience was great. Issue I have is no gas grill within the fenced in part of the back yard. Charcoal grills are are great, where it was located was Inconvient.

We loved the location. The house was beautiful but starting to need some cosmetic upgrades. The pool needed to be checked more often and more thoroughly. We loved the clubhouse.
Nannie's was a quiet, clean, accommodating environment.

We had a wonderful time. Nannie's Sunset was beautiful and met our expectations. The only downside was we did not know about the club facilities until the third day when a couple went to see about renting bicycles. There were other things we might have been interested in, but time was running out. The amenities were great. Oh, yes, a pool ball was missing so we had to make up new rules. Since none of us were pool pros, it did not really matter.

The house was wonderful. Getting to the top of the steps, into the Great Room and seeing the view was worth the ride from NJ. It was like watching the sunsets on an IMAX screen. Gorgeous! So close to the water that you could throw a stone into the sound from the balcony.
The only problems were the smell from the sound and the spiders. We didn't go out back much because it smelled like stagnant water. The spiders didn't keep us from going out on the balcony, but there sure were a lot of them. These problems were not unique to this house though - we stayed at another house in Kitty Hawk, and also at the Corolla Inn, same time of year, and both had the same issues. We're booked in the area again this fall, but in the 4WD area, right on the beach.
The area is beautiful - everything is closeby, including the ocean - but you're still private enough to feel like you're "away." My husband loves the surf fishing and being able to drive on the beach, my daughter and I visited Roanoke Island, the outlets and took the ferry over to Ocracoke Island. Good restaurants are everywhere. Outer Banks has it all.
