The home photographs beautifully, renter beware, the kitchen has been recently updated and there is a lovely gazebo on the walkway to the beach, otherwise the property is in need of updates, bathrooms small, furnitrue well worn. I could have forgiven this had it not been for the experiences wtih the rental company. On day one we noticed the upstairs air conditioner was not working and the upstairs of the house was a toasty 85 degrees. I called this in to the mainteanance line before closing and did not receive a call back. The following day called again, spent 2 days on the phone with rude support, at one point someone said "I don't understand why you are upset" The service people who came out to the house were friendly, but problem was not fixed until 3 days in, and we had to fight for stand alone units until then. No offer for partial refund or to move to an open location and generally unfriendly phone support.

My first time ever, the house and its floor plan was very nice, the bedspreads smelled had to ask for others(clean ones) the windows were so dirty we could hardly see out, so we washed what we could reach,speakers on sterio didn't work, the floors were dirty, the dryer needed to be looked at and the alarm clocks in 2 bdrooms didn't work and the bath tub in a king size room was filthy. now this yr. my husbands going for the first time, I really would love to impress him with our stay so that he comes back again. oh yes and a biggy...no one wanted to stay in the first floor bedrooms because the view of the porch from the bedroom was so grim and dirty, this really needs to be cleaned and brightened up a little.Please see what you can do , we'll be there again in may.the stove is a little weird with big pots on it too. thank you so very much. love the gazebo and the beach!!!

House is beautiful, location is great...mattress are quite old otherwise excellent. would be great if this house had early check-in. (stereo speakers didnt work.) Beach chair upgrades were nice.
overall great looking forward to next year!

We have been vacationing in OBX for about 9 years and always rent a different home. This is the first year that we actually rented a previous home. The location is great. Short walkway with a gazebo at the top of dune. Plenty of beach to spread out. Life guard stand two homes away. The home was nice. Great rec room with pool table for kids. Open floor plan to family room and kitchen. Home does need a good cleaning or needs to be cleaned better each week. Nice decks with a look out at the top. You can see and hear the water from all master bedrooms. Simply beautiful. For teenagers there were shopping areas within 5 miles.

The house was dusty, the floors were dirty. We found about 50 long rusty nails spread out all over the decks as well as a broken screen and leaning piles of plywood. The yard was overgrown and there was trash in the backyard. The outdoor spigots, showers and fireplace did not work. There were loose floor tiles throughout the first floor. All things considered we still had a great time because of the location- but we certainly did not get a deal on this house.

We enjoyed our stay at Salt Spray. The bedroom with attached bathrooms was a plus. The location was ideal. The one thing that could be improved was the amount of refrigerators. We had six couples and we needed more space for food. We kept our alcohol beverages in coolers. The double driveway was a plus also ... less moving of vehicles.

This house was great for our extended family and friends group we have vacationed with in the Outer Banks since the 70's. Very spacious, although another sofa in the LR or loft would have been nice. It had a lot a amenities that weren't listed that made it seem more like home, like lots of kitchen gadgets, casseroles, dishes, crockpots, etc. We like to stay in the house we rent, enjoy each others company and walk and play on the beach. And that we did!

We mainly wanted to enjoy the beach and a large great room for movies, card games, etc. This house suited us well. It does not have swimming pool or other frills -- just the stuff we need.

Loved the house. Loved the layout, location, beach access, and all the beach views. Did not like that several items were not functioning properly and a call to service resulted in nothing. I hope they were able to fix the problems for the next guests.

Have gone here for several years. House is quiet and right on the ocean. Hot tub inside is great as we go when it is still chilly outside. Kitchen and main room are fantastic for great group activities.

We have vacationed at Salt Spray at least eight times over the last few years. Our family loves the spaciousness of the house and the layout that allows us to share time with the family but also have our own space when needed. The gazebo, which is a quick walk from the back deck, also affords many relaxing social times in the early morning or after dinner. The proximity to the beach also makes it easy for us to travel from the house to the beach any time, day or night. We have come to think of Salt Spray as "our beach house" and wouldn't consider any other property as our vacation get-away.
If ever a problem has occured with the property, it has been handled quickly. During our stays an air conditioning unit has been replaced and the hot tub has been repaired. This year the ice machine had been replaced the week before we got there. We have been very pleased with the prompt attention to our needs.
We would recommend this beach house to any family that enjoys a casual lifestyle. The house may not have the elegant furniture or swimming pool you find in some of the more expensive beachfront properties, but it is a wonderful place for a relaxing get-away from home. Our only request is that you don't book it for the week we have our annual Taylor family vacation!
