This cottage is in serious need of upkeep. There was dust and grime everywhere. The blinds in every room were caked in black dust. The carpet was dirty and worn. The dishwasher is so old in this unit that the protective covering on the spikes that secure the glasses and plates was worn off, and the dishes came out covered in rust spots after every wash. We couldn't run the dishwasher at night because it was so noisy that the guests in the queen BR below the kitchen woke up from the sound. It was amazing. I've never heard anything like it. And there's more bad news. The ice machine in the freezer never made ice, but it made a nasty noise, like a rattle, and there was no way to stop it. We also felt that we had been deceived about the number of full baths in the house. The master BR has full bath with shower, and the upstairs queen (directly off the main living space) has a full bath, too. But the bathroom that was shared between the kids room and the other queen BR did not contain a shower, only a deep tub. Doesn't a full bath imply the presence of a shower?? Nevertheless, the house was described as having 3 full baths, rather than specifying that one of the baths lacked a shower. So the guests who were stuck with the shower-less bathroom had to go upstairs and to take a shower in the upstairs queen, then shlep down to the lower bathroom to finish the whole process. Also, when we arrived, there were cobwebs and spiders everywhere, inside and out. We spent almost an hour clearing them out in the places we wanted to walk and sit. In the downstairs queen bedroom where I slept, there was literally years of dust and children's toys under the bed (and presumably under the other furniture) making it obvious no one ever cleaned behind or under the bed. Advice: remove all the carpet and put down a non-allergenic flooring, replace fridge and dishwasher, replace the disgusting blinds and then clean them regularly, and clean under and around all of the furniture in the house. Thank you for taking the time to submit a review of our property "Tranquility". We apologize for the fact the house was not cleaned to your satisfaction upon arrival. Every home is of course deep cleaned prior to each rental season, and we have a list of items that are covered each and every week. Your review was sent to our housekeeping supervisor for her information and consideration.
In addition, we apologize that you feel this property was misrepresented in some manner and for any inconvenience endured because of this. I have revised the home description to say hall bath with tub (no shower).
I would like to express my apologies that you took the time to clean out cobwebs yourself, but I would like to let you know that if you notice anything during your stay that needs our attention, please do not hesitate to contact our office. We are always here to assist our guests. Your time is valued in providing us with this feedback. Thank you for choosing Resort Realty, and we hope to see you and your family again in the near future!

Tiring but then relaxing!!

The biggest disappointment was that after traveling 30 miles in four hours, we arrived at the house only to find out we couldn't get in because housekeeping was only getting to it. I understand that every house cannot be ready at 4pm but at 6:15 we certainly thought we would be able to. Giving us 2 coupons for free pizzas was nice but really, who wants to eat pizza for 2 of the nights while on vacation? We only used one coupon and left the other one for the next occupants of the house. The house had some positive points: the pool, the hot tub, the spaciousness of the rooms, but also some points that need updating. The dishwasher, the fridge (for us, 7 adults, not nearly enough room for the week.) A second fridge or just a larger one would've been great. For us, it was a typical vacation on the Outer Banks. Nothing really wrong but nothing to make it special for us. We heard rumors that a bridge was in the making from Timbuck II to the mainland so until that is built, we probably won't return. The traffic was horrific. I don't like spending the time waiting. Sorry!!! Read more
We apologize that your vacation did not start out on a good note, but are happy to hear that it was relaxing. Every effort is made to have homes ready between 4 and 6pm, but occasionally extenuating circumstances make this not possible. Yes, plans for a Mid-Currituck bridge have been discussed, and we are hoping that the Department of Transportation will make it happen soon. If you are able to, it helps to rent a home with a Friday or Sunday turnover day. We will be happy to pass on your suggestions for improvement to the homeowner. We hope you will return to the Outer Banks and give us an opportunity to assist you in your vacation needs.

We had a wonderful stay at Tranquility. The house was very well-maintained, was conveniently located and had everything that we needed for our visit. Corolla was beautiful and we would stay here again.

Nice home but needs a bit up updating (specifically carpeting and some kitchen and bathroom sprucing up). Very comfortable though and great location! Loved the pool and outdoor shower. Friendly and beautiful neighborhood. The sunsets on the Sound were amazing!

Our group of 6 adults and 5 children, ages 5-11, found this the perfect house for a relaxing vacation. The house had more than ample space for all of us. The kids enjoyed sleeping in the room with 2 sets of bunk beds. The pool offered shade and a nice respite from the sun at the beach. The kitchen was well equipped. The only items that would make it nicer for large groups would be a second fridge and an ice maker. It was a long walk to the beach with kids and equipment but an easy drive with lots of public parking. We might have preferred a house with a view of the beach, but overall we would stay here again and recommend it to friends.

We thoroughly enjoyed the house and its amenities. The house was clean, comfortable and spacious. However, we had a major issue with algae in the pool and did not have use of the pool for 5 out of the 7 days of our stay. This definitely put a damper on our week as my husband wasted valuable vacation time dealing with the realty office over the issue. We did enjoy the location of the home and the ability to use the Monterey Shores clubhouse.

The house was very nice and roomy. Master bed very comfy. Hot tub leaked- but owner is repairing. Only has two indoor showers. Lots of seating!! Nice pool with shaded areas. Big kitchen and family room. Game room was fun.

The location of the rental was ideal, close to the shoppig center, beaches, lighthouse, minatuere golf etc. The kitchen was well equipped and the house was clean and spacious. We had a great time and the grandkids loved the beaches, pool and hot tub. Checkin and checkout with Resort Realty went well and the staff was very nice.

Tranquility is a beautiful home with a gorgeous pool. We were there with our two kids and my sister and her husband and two kids and my mother. The sunroom was handy as our two teen boys slept and played there (has a TV)but were still close enough to pop in on. It also provided an extra bedroom for us as my mom ended up wanting her own room. The ships watch is nice to have with a foosball table and a table to play games on. The open floor plan of the living area made it nice for dining and visiting together. It needed a larger TV in the great room. It was a little far to walk to the beach especially if you were carrying stuff but there is a parking lot 2 blocks from the beach to park in so driving is convenient. There are plenty of decks to enjoy the outdoors though the views are limited.
