Ideal vacation spot with Beach access and lots of inhome enterta

We had a great week getaway. My parents are both older and one is disabled but thanks to the elevator and accessibility we stay at The Prince of Tides every year!
I spent too much time on the phone dealing with repairs!

This home was very well equipped and beautiful. I had a problem with the hot tub. We have several members of our family that are arthritic, and we were looking forward to the hot tub. It never worked properly the whole time we were there. After the repairman came and fixed, it still did not work. The breaker kept getting tripped when you pressed the buttons. I contacted AGAIN Stephanie at Southern Shores REalty and she said she would get in touch with the man again. I never heard back from her or anyone else. II did not want to spend any more of my vacation on the phone, so we just did not use it. We weren't sure if it was afe at all. A refund , even partial would be a nice gesture!
Fabulous stay in a warm and welcoming home!

We had a fabulous stay in this great home! We found the surroundings clean,
comfortable, warm and welcoming. The location was great - a quick walk to
the beach. Unfortunately, the steps to the beach were washed away but they
appeared to be in the process of rebuilding. Nonetheless, we found a path
over a nearby sand dune. We had one slight problem with the internet service
but Southern Shores immediately sent someone over and we were up and
running within an hour. We were disappointed that the BBQ grill was really not
useable - very dirty as were the beach chairs. I suspect a good outside
cleaning will be needed before the in season rentals start. The kitchen was
well equipped including dish towels and spices. The only thing that would have
been helpful would be pot holders and we did not think to bring those. All in
all a great week!

You have basically an oceanfront property for half the pay of most. The theater room made the evenings an outstanding experience and it was also great for the football games.Everything you needed was right there and even though it was cold outside you had so much or little to do depending on your mood.We had three families stay there and you could spend as much or as little time together as you wanted with all the various living spaces it provided. The only flaw was the remote controls were hard to navigate but everything else waas first class.

Perfection at OBX
Left on 12/02/2009 for a stay in November 2009 | Delumpa Family
For the last 14 years, my family has spent Thanksgiving week at the OBX. We have 17 people in our family, including my elderly father, my three sisters, our husbands and all of our kids (ages 9-20). This was the first time we had rented Prince of Tides and the first time we had EVER used Southern Shores Realty.
It was a fabulous vacation, from the beginning to the end. Southern Shores Realty was wonderful to work with, for the entire process. They called us to inform us after the Nor'easter, our beach access was washed away, but that everything else was fine. The agents were friendly and professional. VERY accomodating. The company offers good, thick towels, not like some of the other companies we have used in the past.
This really is a unique house, as it sits ALONE on a street. It is not listed as 'oceanfront', but you really couldn't get much closer. Plus, our views of the beach from the top floor were the BEST we have ever had in 14 years. The privacy factor is amazing, we did NOT feel as though we were right on top of our neigboring house. Our beach accesses were washed away, but if not for the nor'easter, the accesses were literally steps away.
The house has an elevator, which is one of the reasons why we rented it. My father used it on a daily basis and made it possible for him to enjoy his vacation as well.
Prince of Tides is beautifully decorated, not your average 'beachy' theme. Sophisticated. The kitchen is well stocked, the bedding is lovely and the theater room is perfect for both kids and adults.
This was a wonderful vacation for my entire family. The house was an absolute GEM. Nicely stocked. Beautifully decorated. Ideal location. We have already pre-registed for next Thanksgiving.
We love Prince of Tides!

House was great and in a great location
One problem we had was that there was no TV in the bedrooms only DVD sets = it does advertise in booklet and on Internet - TV/DVD's in all rooms.
Recycling wasn't picked up - I think they forgot us.
Pool should be heated - couldn't use it since it was too cold.
Other than that we liked the house--- this is our 9th year at Outer Banks and we will be back net year. Already have requests in about another house.

For those who like a little space, this is perfect with no adjacent neighbors peering over your corner of the world. Just a moment's walk and you're on the beach! Great ocean view from 3rd floor deck. The elevator made it all possible for older family members. The theatre and billiard room was great for the tweens/teens. The kitchen was the best stocked "rental kitchen" any of us had ever encountered! We did have some problems with bathroom plumbing (maintenance arrived in timely fashion) & various "little things" such as unstable ceiling fans, doors that wouldn't lock, broken umbrella for pool, etc., so check it all out upon arrival. Would recommend you plan your trip in July...the pool water was too cool except for the only hot day we had & the ocean water was still cold. Had some very breezy/"red flag" days, which we learned is normal for Corolla.

Our family had a GREAT time in Prince of Tides. The views of the ocean were great and we loved that it was such a short walk to the beach. We also appreciated that this home was pet friendly as we take our dog everywhere we travel - she is just part of the family. The in-home theater was a definite plus for the teenagers in our party. We would definitely stay again.

This house is absolutely stunning! It is right next to the beach and at the time there were no houses surrounding it. My Family and I lived in the movie theater and half the time didnt even see each other all day because the house is so big. We had a really great a time! It was a nice change from the jersey shore and we will definitely rent there again.

This house was by far the best one we've stayed in and we've been coming to the Outer Banks for 6 years and counting.
The elevator was a treat, and the movie/game rooms were much appreciated.
The view is spectacular and the short walk to the beach is outstanding.
Great Privacy and Amenities
Left on 01/27/2009 for a stay in June 2008 | Kelly Family
We loved the house -- it is on a court that, as yet, has no other houses built on it -- so you've basically got acres of privacy. The walk to the beach access is about 50 yards from the front door, though other people do come from more crowded streets to use it.
The house was beautifully appointed -- quality furniture. The lower level screening room and pool table were faves with the kids. We were very comfortable there.
I do wish the pool had been heated. Even though we were there the last week of June, the ocean was ice cold and the pool didn't really warm up, either. So we were a little frustrated at not being able to enjoy the water as much as we'd like.
The other thing that was a concern was the top level TV set up. The cable box, DVD player, etc. were all housed in a built-in cabinet that would get very overheated. We eventually ended up unplugging everything because it was heating up that area of the top floor and we didn't want to risk anything melting/burning.
We would love to go back this year, but can't quite afford it. Unless Southern Shores is able to offer discounts.

We are five couples that have been sharing New Year's for many, many years at the Outer Banks. This was by far the nicest rental we have had. Well stocked kitchen. Tastefully decorated throughout, and as of now not smashed next to another beach home. Loved the media room downstairs. Guys could watch all the bowl games while the gals could watch "chick flicks" upstairs. Linens and all supplied - all we had to do was have a good time with dear friends - and we had no problem doing just that!

My family in NY, PA and GA try to reunite at the Outerbanks every year. This is the most beautiful area - the homes are just gorgeous, the beach breathtaking, and the area is so perfect for families. Kids fly kites on the beach, everyone goes bike riding and so close to Kitty Hawk, the Aquarium, swim in the beautiful ocean or take a dip in the pool, visit the great lighthouses. There is something for everyone.
And at the end of the day you just look out over the ocean from one of the many porches on your house and thank God for creating such a magnificant place. I just love, love, love the Outerbanks and have sent many, many people here and they love it just as much as my family and I do.
