      Great house and location

      This house was at a great location, well equiped and worked well for our house. The house had the extras like the beach chairs and pool floats. The kitchen was well equipped. There was a problem with ne shower but after a phone call to your office the problem was quickly taken care of. Would defintely consider this house again and considering that we have been going to the Outer Banks for 23 years and have never stayed in the same house twice thats might not happen.

      Great basic home in need of a little TLC.

      Great, great location, right on a dedicated walkway to the beach. Love that Corolla installed those walkways. A different layout which may work better for larger multiple families; did not like that our bathroom was separate from our bedroom and that both were off the living room. Plenty of beach chairs/toys already at the house; really wish that would have been advertised in the listing so we could have saved some room. Kitchen was also well stocked and all appliances worked well (although the ice maker in the 2nd fridge was broken). Very close to shops and other locations. Pool was excellent and the grill area was rather nice (not crammed between the house and aC unit; not sure where the last reviewer got that from).

      The house does need a bit of TLC/touch up. When it rained one day water ran into the house through a seam above the north patio door.

      This was a great house that could be even better with a little bit of work. We would come back again if we did not make it a rule we never stay at the same house more than once!

      The beach and family were fantastic but the house was awful!

      The service from seaside vacations was wonderful. Everyone I spoke with was very helpful and courteous. This was our second year staying in Ocean Dreams and unfortunately we decided that it will be our last. The house was just filthy. We were very upset with the cleaning. The upstairs bath looked like it hadn't been swept. There was clumps of hair in the corners in front of the shower. One of the beds had sand in it when we pulled down the blankets. The blankets smelled dirty. The kitchen faucet was barely hanging on. The dishwasher is horrible. It is difficult to use and doesn't clean the dishes. The coffee pot only makes a decent pot of coffee is you only make a half a pot at a time otherwise you get a pot full of grounds. The pool was never cleaned mid-week and we had strong storms at night that put a great deal of debris in the pool. The furniture on the deck and by the pool is cheap and uncomfortable. The grill is in a ridiculous location. Shoved inbetween the pool, wall of the house and the air conditioner. Not to mention, the grill was disgusting. The icing on the cake was when my boys told me upon departure that in the basement bunkbed room they saw roaches and huge spiders. That did it for me. Now to be fair, there are a few positive things. The location is perfect! Close to the beach. And the best part was the 15, 17and 18 year olds were able to ride their bikes to nearby.restarants, shops and putt putt. The layout of the house is nice for multiple families.

      The beach house was quite comfortable. Walking to the ocean was very easy. The landscaping around the house and pool is beautiful. The pool and hot tub are very clean.

      Perfect location. Easy and convenient beach access. Great Master suite. Interesting and accomodating layout. Nicely landscaped. There is evidence that the owners are in the process of implementing incremental updates that are needed. There are many beautiful decks but not much deck furniture to sit on.

      Modest accommodations.This home is a little dated, but we were very comfortable here. The location is great with a very short walk to the beach. This home is ideal for small families looking for a beach vacation. We had 2 families of 4 and room to spare. Overall another great week in OBX

      Great location, house needs work

      The positives:location, maintenance of the yard & lot size all 10's! The view from the top deck was fabulous. Negatives:inside of the house needs some updating. The shower or tub from the master bedroom leaked into the bunk bed room below pouring out through the lights Looking at the numerous cracks & water spots all over the house, this isn't the first leak but one of many. The pots/pans need some serious updating there wasn't enough & what was there was in poor shape. There was way too much serving ware & just "stuff" in the kitchen it made it difficult to find what you needed & it was all mismatched and hodge podge. The downstairs recreation room/bunk bed room had a sewery, musty smell (after seeing the water pouring through the lights I understood why) & should have been a great hangout area for our teenage kids, however it needs some serious maintenance/updating. The pool area was great, however it needed some more seating areas & some more comfortable chairs. The grilling area is terrible for the men who want to hang out while grilling it is shoved back with the spiders/creepy crawlies back by the air conditioning unit so you get to grill shoved in this tiny area with the air conditioning unit blowing hot air and making conversation impossible. With such a large beautiful yard we were surprised that was the area chosen. The beach toys were nice to have there, but generally the were broken & in poor shape as well as the beach chairs, so if you are coming, bring your own. Not sure if it is an owner's issue or the realty co but the amount of towels given was poor, had 1 dish towel for 3 families for a week & 1 terrible scratchy thin towel for a wk per/person. Outdoor dining spaces are inadequate for the size of house. That all being said the layout/location did work for us, so despite the above we will return next year, we will be better prepared! This prop is on the edge, however of becoming not worth the $$ if some serious issues aren't addressed.

      But...we speak french here and there was a problem.
      Thios week I call your company to make a reservation for next year. I was surprise to discover that the rent would be around 6700. This year we paid aroud 7300. Here is the reason.
      When we reserved last year we ask your representative not to include insurance !!!because we have cancellation insurance on our credit card.

      But as I told you we speak french here and when we sign so many initials in te contract...we have apparently sais by mistake... yes on the insurance question with our initials on it.
      So we paid 400 box for nothing...but I know you will tel we signed it.
      We think about goin again next year. Yesterday we block a reservation and Mallory told us (like the last year lady by the way) we will write that you deny insurance. So I guess I will have to look closer to your contract when I receive it.
      I will tell you honestly that I would be happy to receive a kind of credit for our misunderstandins if possible because we want to go back and to tal tou our firend about it . Event on the air becase I am a TV and radio animator.
      So if you can do something for us...please let me now.
      Otherwise those vacations and yout service were perfect.

      Best overall beach vacation ever

      The weather, water, surf, and beach were incredible. We beat the traffic by arriving very early Saturday morning and called for an early checkin if possible. Some took the kids to the beach while others went to the grocery store. We were in the cottage before 1PM. The accommadations, especially the bedrooms, matched our needs. The kitchen was a little dated and the island got in everyone's way, but those things are minor. The pool, hot tub and game room were great, especially in the evening. There was a leak in the bunkbed bedroom that appeared to come from the master shower. We reported the leak and just stopped using that shower...the outdoor shower is my favorite anyway. We especially enjoyed the fresh seafood and veggies which we purchased daily. The adults went out to dinner once...to aqua in Duck...where the food and service were excellent.

      Another great year at OBX, but restless Ocean Dreams.

      We have stayed at Ocean Dreams seven times, for 3 years with a break, then during the last four years. The house is in a great location being on a corner lot, one block from the ocean. The house has become quite dated, with the furniture and bedding in dire need of replacement. The house also needs an overall cleaning (dust hanging from all the a/c and furnace vents). The decking around the house and pool is old and needs replaced, thus splinters in fingers and feet are a daily, common occurance. The rent amount is considerably lower than other four bedroom houses in Whalehead, but in keeping the rent low the owners have, unfortunately, let the property go downhill instead of making needed improvements and charging more. We have vacationed in Whalehead every year since 1986, however, we probably will not stay at Ocean Dreams again unless renovations are made to the property.

      Ocean Dreams had a place for everyone :)

      We had a great time at Ocean Dreams! We traveled with 2 other families but it was very spacious & had somewhere for everyone to relax. The kids loved having their own space downstairs (& the adults loved that too!). It was nice having 2 refrigerators but we could only get 2 of the burners to work on the stove. Make sure you rent a grill too, the only one they have is charcoal. The pool pump shut off early in the week but they showed us what to do if it happened again when they came for the mid week pool & hot tub maintenance. Other than that the pool & hot tub were great. There were lots of sand toys, beach chairs & boogie boards at the house for us to use.
      It has a nice yard & it's short walk to the beautiful beach. Everything you'll need is very close by. We rented street legal golf carts while we were there so it was awesome being able to drive around the neighborhood or to the store. Lots of fun! We really enjoyed Corolla & Ocean Dreams & would love to visit them both again. :)

      best stay ever

      this house has everything from pots and pans (wolfgang puck) to all the sand and pool toys, including beach chairs you heart and mind can think of. our children had a blast from the start. they jumped in the pool before we even got our bags completely out of the car. so neat to see local shows and went to the peir to see the fishermans catches for the day. that was priceless!! the house was just plain amazing. felt like you were at home then at night you wished it was your real home. so sad to leave it but we will be coming back next year and the year after that!!!

      Decent stay but house is a little outdated

      House is very close to the beach. Hot tub was great. Pool needs a really good
      cleaning. It was very dirty and looked like it has not been scrubbed in years.
      House had a log cabin type feel. Foosball table was really old and sticky.

      The house was very nice. However I had requested that the pool be in working order. I was bringing my 4 children and needed the pool for entertainment. Unfortunetly it was not working and niether was the fireplace in the master bedroom. Other than that, I have no complaints.

      This home has everything! Great location -- close to beach and shopping! Great amenities -- pool, hot tub, game room! Lots of room -- big spacious common areas, good be arrangements.       Perfect Home at a Great Price

      This was our fourth year staying at Ocean Dreams and as in the past years it was a very enjoyable stay.

      It is a perfect home for our needs and a very short walk to direct beach access. We were at the beach every morning and lounging at the pool in the afternoons.

      I would highly recomend this property to anyone considering the northern Outer Banks for a vacation.
