The fun and adventure begins in Ocean Sands (Section M) just south of Corolla along the Outer Banks' northern beaches. Enjoy the extensive amenities of... this custom-built, fully equipped and well maintained getaway offering all the pleasures for a memorable vacation. This home has special touches to provide you with everything you could need. Located in a private cul de sac, you can stay undiscovered until you are ready to set sail towards home.

The PRIVATE LAKE is very close by and has a 1 mile jogging path around the lake which leads to community tennis courts. There is a lot to see and do nearby - 1 1/2 miles to the Currituck Club golf course (call 888-453-9400 for tee times). Less than 1 mile to TimBuck II Shopping Plaza w/ putt-putt, go-carts, water sports, small shops, restaurants & the Food Lion shopping center across the street. Also nearby, the Whalehead Club and Currituck Beach Lighthouse (visible from our observation deck too!). If you own a 4 wheel drive vehicle you can explore the 4 wheel beach where you will find many hidden treasures such as the Corolla Wild Horses.

Ocean Sands Amenities- A Pirates Paradise is located in section M of Ocean Sands. - There are tennis courts in Sections D, F, and H only.- There is NO public pool in the Ocean Sands subdivision.

  We stayed here the first week in april. Overall it was a nice stay. One thing that would have been nice is to have a roll of toilet paper placed in each bathroom for the mad dash everyone makes after a long car ride.
  Make sure when you come that you bring hand soap, dishwasher soap, he laundry soap, etc. Also many of the lights have dimmer switches that were on the lowest setting. It took us a couple days and some new light bulbs to find that out.
  The jacuzzi broke and was repaired by the next night,you do need to call several times to get something fixed,don't leave a message, you won't hear back.
  If you look out the back and to the left from an upper floor you may see the two foxes that live there, we only saw them because the leaves hadn't grown yet. Very cute. If you want to see the wild horses go out right before sunrise, make sure you have a 4x4 vehicle.

  A House with Everything!

  What a great house. We rented additional supplies, a bike and beach umbrellas, but we didn't need to. They had umbrellas, chairs for the beach, a cart to bring everything to the beach, a cooler, bikes. The pool is huge and there are outdoor speakers so you can lounge by the pool and listen to your favorite tunes.
  Of course, seaside vacation rentals were quick to help when we had a problem with internet access and the stove.
  The only problems we had were with the weather,lots of rain, and the neighborhood,not crazy about it. It was a longer walk to the beach than we were used to and there was no place to park by the beach.
  Otherwise, we had a great vacation!

  So we stayed here over the week of the 4th and loved it. The house was in great condition, everything was labeled (which was nice - light switches, blankets, cabinets, etc..)
  
  It is a short walk to the beach, not too far, in a great little cul-de-sac (good for playing basketball / wiffle ball). The pool was good, nice and clean.
  
  Only issue we had was with the wifi - it kept dropping out, but when we called, the service team showed up in the next few hours and reset it (which happened twice).
  
  Overall a nice place, well laid out and clearly well taken care of.

  We vacationed with another family this year in a Pirates Paradise. The house was fantastic! Very clean and well kept. Anything one would need to cook for the week was provided. The rooms were large and easily accommodated our families. The layout was family friendly and we enjoyed the pool and hot tub tremendously. We loved the location! Close to the beach and walking distance to the lake for great turtle watching. It was great to have the bikes available as we biked every day! We would recommend staying in this property to anyone looking to vacation in the Outer Banks! We will definitely be back next year:)

  The house was nice and well kept. Everything worked well with the exception of one of the showers, which was inconsistent with the hot water. The one thing that concerned me was the inventory pictures on all the cabinets. Each cabinet had pictures of how many cups, plates, etc were to be in each cabinet, but at the end when we went to make we had replaced everything in the right cabinet, our inventory came up a little short. We didn't break any glasses, and we searched the house to make sure there weren't any lingering in people's rooms. So I assume inventory was short before we got there. Other than that, the house was a great distance from the beach and the pool was well kept. This was a beautiful and fun house for a much needed vacation. Thank you!

  Love the home! Gail and Tim had done a great job in maintaining it (as we have stayed here many times before). There were a couple of things that needed to be addressed: the hot tub had some jet cover issues (they came off when the jets were turned on) and there is a frying pan with peeling teflon that needs to be replaced. At some point it would great if the mattress/box springs in the upstairs master bedroom can be replaced but other than that... Fantastic time. Thank you for everything... we will be back next year!

  Our week at pirates's paradise was awesome. Very room, kitchen fully stocked, clean, pool was perfect, walk to the beach was short. And the weather was perfect. Did not grill though, the grill was quite wobbly so we did not want to push our luck. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to our friends.

  What a great house! Checking in was a breeze...it was keyless entry so we didn't need to go to the office! The kitchen was equipped amazingly - it had everything we needed to prepare delicious meals, including a garlic press & coffee mills :) We vacationed with our adult children, 20 month old granddaughter and grandpup, so the baby equipment and the toys were wonderful. The pool was superb - the last house had a glorified puddle & to actually have a full-size pool was a blessing. I enjoyed reading about the 'birth' of the house and looking at the pictures - they did an amazing job. We will be staying here again!!! Thanks!!!

  Family Fun Beach Getaway

  Check-in was exceedingly simple, and completed within 2 minutes. Because the locks were via keypad, there were no keys to return, thus eliminating a visit to the office for check-out.
  
  The home was lovely and well equipt. We were traveling with our two daughters (ages 4 and 2), and safety gates as well as a high chair and booster seat were available. In the bedroom with bunk beds a stash of toys was the hit of the week. The kitchen was stocked with pots/pans and other assorted cooking equipment. There were hundreds of books located throughout the house, and a DVD jukebox had over 200 movies at our fingertips.
  
  The house is located 3 short blocks to the beach boardwalk. The beach itself was lovely and clean and not-overly populated for the Labor Day weekend we were there.
  
  The hot tub was wonderful, particularly because the pool was a bit chilly while we were there. I enjoyed sitting on the wrap-around porches watching the sunrise, or reading books. The eagle-eye view is unique, as well!
  
  I do think, however, the bathroom showers need a good scrubbing, particularly the shower heads. Other than this, though, the home was quite clean.

  Great pirate fun!

  We had several kids with us, so we decided to live up to the house's name and bring lots of pirate booty with us! Eye patches, tattoos, and pirate flags, along with some rum for the adults, added to the very purple and yellow house. The inside was quite nice and comfortable! We were sad that there were no pirate flags outside, since it would have made the awkward color come together a little more, but all in all we loved it! The pirate lookout was great, rooms were nice and lots and lots of amenities. We couldn't have been happier! Thanks and see you next year!

  Every year, I rent a different house in Corolla. This is not because of bad experiences, but more because of availability. This one turned out to be one of the best. The house has all the comforts of home. Even a good cook should find everything they need in the kitchen. The entire house feels new and there were no things, I felt, needed repair. There are some things that made this house stand apart from previous ones. First, it has a real swimming pool. Many houses, in the same price range, have an over-sized fish pond. Now that the majority of the kids I bring are teenagers, the pool size matters and this one exceeded all their expectations. Another cool thing is the media jukebox. There is a Sony jukebox with hundreds fairly new movies. This is attached to a good sound system and a big flat screen TV. The system is fairly complex to learn, but once we got the hang of it, the TV was never turned to normal stations again. Most rentals have a library of old 1990s VHS tapes. This is way cooler! The house is located about a five minute walk to the beach and a three minute drive to one of two major grocery stores. There was only one thing that would have made the house perfect. All of the other TVs are old CRT models. The only reason this is a problem is that we always bring a PS3 for the kids. None of the other TVs have a Hdmi connection. Other than that, this house is perfect.

  While we enjjoyed the home, we found it quite unkempt Cob webs everywhere, feathers from the pillows on couch everywhere. This house need a thorough cleaning. We also had flu like symptons that ran through 13 out of 15 of us. we disinfected everything!!! Curious to see if previous renters came down with stomach virus. We would probably not come to this house unless we were truly convinced that things had changed. The alam on the door to pool area was not working, it should not be advertised as such. The serviceman stated that it would not go any louder. it was definitely not functioning. 7 grandchildren under the age of 10, a consant worry. The refrigerator did not cool properly, serviced on Wednesday. We are definitely coming back to OBS in 3 to 4 years. But maybe not here.

  A Pirates Paradise is worthy of the name. The home was immaculate and decorated tastefully. We were highly impressed with the overstocked kitchen. Even the odds and ends that we were sure we had to bring from home were there! We liked it so much that we put a deposit down for next year, same house, same week.
  
  My one and only suggestion is to have the refrigerator checked. While it maintained a constant temperature, there was a drip inside in which we had to change paper towels daily to keep it from spreading in the refrigerator.

  This is the worst!!

  This home was filthy! To start, the carpets are soiled with old animal urine. Under the sofa, we found old animal poopie. The kitchen had old roach traps behind the coffee makers. To top it off, the last night we were there, my sister found a baby cockroach in her bed. I would NEVER rent this house again...ever! I felt dirty each morning I woke up - the showers were filled with mildew. When you take a vacation, one should feel relaxed, rested, etc. I felt dirty and worried what we would find next. A dead fly was found on one the headboard of one of the rooms. AWFUL!

  We stayed for a week and truly enjoyed all the Outer Banks had to offer. Golf, surf, sand, pool, hot tub, horses and 4x4. We will be back and would definetly stay at a Pirate's Paradise again.

  As always, the house was great. My only concern is that we were not given a key to the front door, so the only door we could use to get in and out was the door with the keypad on the bottom floor.

  AWESOME TRIP

  Everyone in our party is in 100% agreement, the pirates paradise is exactly that. We could not have enjoyed ourselves more. Staying in this "resort" as we called it, made us all feel like we were at home. There wasn't one thing that we needed that wasn't on location. Beach chairs, bikes, every drinking glass you could think of, movies, games, comfortable blankets, eating utensils, etc. Everything was nicely labeled and neat. The furniture was sooo comfortable, and the location was just perfect. The kids loved the movie selection the adults did too. The sound system was out of this world both inside and outside the house. The pool and hot tub beautiful. The swings on the porch so relaxing. It certainly felt like we were at a friends house treated like royalty, not like a rental property. A definite have to stay place.

  Wonderful and Luxurious

  We enjoyed a fabulous week at A Pirate's Paradise. The weather was good with only one day of extreme humidity. The house was the best rental we have ever used. With 2 master bedroom suites there was plenty of room for 3 families and one dog. We packed lighter than usual since so many items were available as part of the rent. The bikes, beach chairs and umbrellas were in good conditon and much appreciated. Everything in the house is quality with attention to detail; from the grill to the DVD jukebox. All of the lightswitches are labeled so you know which switch operates which light fixture! The crow's nest offers a great view of sunsets and at night you can see the Currituck lighthouse. The pool water had not had time to warm but we did manage to enjoy the hot tub. We even had a visit from a doe while we were there. If you are considering renting this house I suggest you do so. It is a wonderful house that is within walking/biking distance to the beach and we loved it!

  Wonderful Cottage! Great Pool!

  My husband and I went and stayed at the Pirate's Paradise for our honeymoon. It was the most wonderful, relaxing and romantic week of our lives. We plan to stay again next year and bring our family this time.
  It was the best honeymoon ever. The private pool and hot tub were perfect, we didn't even hardly have to leave the house!! We loved it!!
