Orchid Bay is a secluded beach community, located on the Caribbean Sea in the Bay of Chetumal, near the town of Corozal. This family-friendly location allows you to enjoy all of the beauty of Belize without being in the middle of a busy tourist center. With only 24 beach houses total, you can mingle with others at the pool or onsite restaurant if you choose to, or relax in your private home if you crave solitude.

This Belize vacation rental casita itself is a one bedroom, one bath, 1000 s.f. thatched roof structure with Belizean hardwood accents, tongue and groove ceiling, and hand-painted ceramics. The main living area is on the groun...d level, with a spacious living room, comfortable seating, a pull out futon, and small dining area. A top of the line kitchen with wood cabinetry, tile accents, and stainless steel appliances (stove, refrigerator with ice maker, dishwasher and microwave) is equipped with everything you need to cook your meals. Also on the ground floor is the bedroom, with a Queen size bed and wardrobe, as well as a bathroom with a shower. The entire house has hot water and there are two a/c units (living room and bedroom) to keep you cool.

The casita has gorgeous water views, and is only a short walk to the beach, bar, restaurant or pool, making it a quiet and peaceful location. We can easily accommodate up to four guests (two in the bedroom and two in the living room futon). Wifi internet in the casita is available through Guest Services for a fee. There is a TV and DVD player, with a selection of movies, in both the living room and bedroom (no cable TV however). There is also an unfurnished loft that kids can turn into their own private “club house.�

There’s plenty to do at Orchid Bay. You can kayak, fish, sunbathe, swim in the year round pool or beautiful waters of Chetumal Bay. You can also hike through the lush tropical rainforests of Punta Allegre, home to unexcavated Mayan Ruins, explore the Mayan Ruins at Cerros, or visit the Butterfly breeding center at Shipstern Reserve, all just a few miles away. From Orchid Bay, you can visit all the top destinations in Belize, such as the Mayan Ruins, Barrier Reef, or world-class fishing at Bacalar Chico. Shopping malls, movie theaters and museums are all under an hour away in Chetumal, Mexico. Or a ferry ride will take you to the Cayes to snorkel or scuba dive.

From the Belize International Airport, you can rent a car and drive to Corozal Town and then on to Orchid Bay. Or we can refer you to our reliable shuttle company, who can also take you grocery shopping before driving you to the casita (there are no stores at Orchid Bay).

All bedding, towels, and kitchen supplies/utensils are provided in this Belize vacation rental. Weekly Housekeeping is included in your rate, and you can have your personal items laundered for an extra fee by the staff at Orchid Bay. Guest must provide their own groceries. Small, friendly cats and dogs are permissible with prior permission, and outdoor smokers are welcome.

Orchid Bay Beach Club provides onsite guest services (housekeeping, laundry, tour assistance, etc.), and a restaurant/bar that is open six days a week, mostly year around (please inquire as to their schedule before booking if you wish to verify).

  Beautiful place to use as 'home base' to explore Belize

  We spent the whole month of March in a one bedroom Casita overlooking the beach. It was the best place we have ever stayed to relax, recharge our batteries and explore. Orchid Bay has 24 privately-owned Casitas many of which are made available to rent. Our Casita had a large bedroom and separate living room / kitchen area. The couch folded down to make a double bed. Some of the Casistas also have a sleeping loft which can accommodate two more guests.
  The grounds of Orchid Bay are very large and there are lots for sale for those wanting to build their own home. Also, there are two six-unit condo apartments being constructed over looking a white sand beach. We ate in the Tradewinds Bar & Grill a few times and found the food to be very good and quite inexpensive. Most of our meals we prepared for ourselves in the Casita. Orchid Bay has a small convenience store and the owners will pick up just about anything you need if they don't have it in stock at the time.
  The "Property Manager" Stephen Honeybill was a great host. He gave us great advise about where to travel, and even drove us over to the Copper Bank Inn each Saturday for darts with some of the local expat community.
  As mentioned, we used Orhcid Bay as our home base and ventured out with a rental car from Belize VIP Transfer and Tours: a boat trip down the New River to the Lamanai Mayan ruins, Cave Tubing and the Belize Zoo near the captial Belmopan, and a flight from Corozal to San Pedro for a couple days to snorkel, scuba and enjoy the night life.
  We enjoyed out month at Orchid Bay so much, we plan to go there again next year for a longer stay. There is still a lot more to do and see in Belize!

  Great place to relax

  I stayed here with my boyfriend for a week after Christmas. Most of the other people who were staying were the owners of their casitas, so most people knew each other and it seemed like we were staying in a nice close-knit community. There is a restaurant on-site, and woman who runs it is incredibly friendly. One downside was that the water in the bay is turbid and very cloudy, so while it's very nice to look at you can't see more than a foot ahead of you when you're swimming. The sand is also more of a white clay, and there are some rocks in the water too so water shoes are a very good idea. As for location, it's about an hour to the closest village (Corozal and Orange Walk are about the same distance away). So if you're looking for somewhere to go to stay on the mainland and relax this is a great place, but if you want to go exploring or do any water activities besides kayaking then you might prefer staying on ambergris Caye where there is a ton of snorkelling and scuba diving, plus tons of places to stay that are close to restaurants and grocery stores.
