My family of 3 stayed at this home for a short vacation in late april this year. We had a wonderful time, this home is very welcoming, comfortable. We loved having a full kitchen to cook our meals. The outdoor garden area if very relaxing and beautiful. My daughter (3) had a wonderful time exploring the surrounding property and was very comfortable. I would highly recommend this rental property.

We decided to stay at Brunk Cottage, apart from the location, because they had animals -cats, dogs and chickens to name a few! Its just outside of Cortez but very quiet outside the town and the hosts could not be more welcoming. They have lots of literature regarding the area and a courtyard garden full of fruit and vegetables to help with catering. The cats were frequent visitors!
The cottage is bijou but perfect for 2 people, very peaceful and relaxing. You can be as private as you like as cottage has own drive etc. Great base for exploring places like Monument Valley, Arches National Park, Hovenweep Monument, Durango, Mesa Verde etc. Also a good wine tasting place within about 20 mins drive.
Everybody was so friendly we would not hesitate to go back (even if to steal a cat!!) -

The headline says it all. The Brunk Guest House is a delight. Very tastefully decorated, very comfortable, very nice owner. It's close to the two wineries in the Cortez area -- Guy Drew and Sutcliffe -- which is why we were there (both recommended). But it's also close to Mesa Verde, to some great hiking, etc. Both my traveling partner and I loved it. Enough said.

We stayed in this home during our two-week vacation around the four corners area. The house is wonderfully decorated with everything you could possibly need. Everything was well-organized and available for our use. The owners have a note on a blackboard telling you to come by or call if you need anything. They also stopped by to make sure we were settled in alright. An accordion-style folder full of information about local shopping, restaurants, attractions, and wineries was left beside the couch. There were also lots of movies to watch, as well as Dvds about some of the attractions close by. The owners even left us some fresh eggs and homemade grape jelly to enjoy during our stay. If you are travelling without a large family in tow and need a place to stay, this is just perfect!!

What a lovely and clean guest house! We stayed here three nights to be close to the Mesa Verde area. It was just perfect! Becky and Don have done a great job with this house and the surrounding gardens are just beautiful. We spent two full days in Mesa Verde and loved it. We would definitely come back and stay here again and do some other sight seeing in this area. There is so much to see and do.

This was a wonderful home with beautiful gardens. It was so clean, comfortable, so beautifully decorated and just perfect. I would definitely stay there again, if in the area. The owner keeps it in immaculate condition and it was ideally located to Mesa Verde National Park. A couple of hours on the San Juan Skyway gets you to Telluride and Hovenweep National Monument is also somewhat close.

We spent an idyllic five nights in this beautifully decorated and appointed guest house. We were welcomed with a bouquet of fresh flowers from the garden. Antiques and personal treasures from their travels are displayed throughout the house. Shelves of books included an eclectic selection of guidebooks of Mesa Verde, Colorado, and other locations, books on wine, art, photography and novels. She has files of information and maps about things to do and see in the area.
Becky provided us with fresh eggs from her hens and her own delicious homemade jelly and marmalade. While eating breakfast we were visited by hummingbirds at the feeder outside the window.
The bed was very comfortable. All linens and towels were very high quality. The bathroom was luxurious and contained everything one might need.
The courtyard outside the front door has beautiful gardens which were just beginning to bloom in late april. There is a superb view of the mountains from the windows. This is a beautiful property inside and out. It was such a treat to stay here.
We hope to return someday and experience more of Becky's hospitality. -

CalgaryWhat a Great Place to Stay in Cortez!
Left on 01/08/2011 for a stay in January 2011
We met this nice couple in a restaurant a few months ago. They were sitting beside us and overheard our plans to visit the Four Corners area. They suggested we stay the Brunk Guest House near Cortez. They said -- “It’s great!”.
After we booked the place -- based on the advice of strangers -- we began to have second thoughts. My wife and I are fussy. And quite often, in our experience, B&B;’s and Guest Houses aren’t exactly “as advertised” on their websites. Our son is even fussier. He’s a “Ritz” kind of guy – at least when we’re paying!
Well -- I’m happy to report that the strangers were right. The Brunk Guest House is great!
It’s a quaint little cottage on the outside -- but on the inside it’s clean and comfortable and has all the modern conveniences (and everything works!). We should know. We stayed there during one of the worst snow storms in years so we spent a lot of time inside that cottage!
The cottage is just a few miles south of Cortez – which is handy for shopping and restaurants. It’s also within easy striking distance of Mesa Verde and other attractions in the Four Corners area.
The Brunk’s are also excellent hosts. They gave us lots of advice on what to see in the area – and where to eat. We even got some of Becky’s farm fresh eggs for breakfast!
We would highly recommend staying at the Brunk Guest House if you’re planning to visit this area.
And, yes, our fussy son loved it too! -

Seattle, WAUnique, scenic setting, comfortable stylish stay--Recommended!
Left on 08/31/2010 for a stay in August 2010
I stayed at the Brunk guesthouse recently--and I was shocked at how gorgeous the setting, the guest house, fthe urnishings, and the garderns were. How is this place so inexpensive?? I can't wait to go back on my next CO trip.
I loved everything--from the unique, eclectic decorating touches (chalkboard with information on local markets and wine tastings, antique sewing machine table, fabric heirloom headboard, all mixed in with some modern touches) to the great coffee, amazingly comfortable bed, and the outstanding views of gardens and the mesa and surroundings from the windows. It's a very romantic spot, with great little places to sit on the porch in the walled garden or in the front, with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine.
Stay here--you'll be incredibly pleased. An outstanding deal. -

We stayed there for two days and enjoyed it very much. The little house has a beautiful little fenced in yard and the interiors are very tasteful, every little detail is done with so much love. We felt like being at home. Wonderful. The kids enjoyed it also a lot.

My son and I found the Brunk Guest House to be the perfect spot to experience SW Colorado and parts of Utah. It is spacious and sparkling clean and the amenities (including washer/dryer) met all our traveling needs. The location, at the foot of Mesa Verde, is both ideal and idyllic, offering wonderful views but also a great jumping-off point to experience mountains, national parks, national monuments and hot springs. Becky and Don are perfect hosts, there when you need them but otherwise giving you privacy. They designed the Guest House with many nice touches and add their own -- such as a welcome basket with homemade jam -- to make you feel welcome and on the receiving end of real thoughtfulness. I knew within 3 minutes of walking into the Guest House that I wanted to come back, and I'm looking forward to the next time. This is a can't-miss.

We had a great time in Cortez, visiting national parks and mountain towns, but it was
so good at the end of each day to return to this very special cottage. It is functional,
beautiful, and comfortable. The amenities--things like the well-equipped kitchen, the
washer and dryer, the Internet connection--made our stay easy in terms of day-to-
day activities. The beautiful views of the mesa and the mountains made each glance
out the window special. There's plenty of privacy, but the hosts are always there to
help or give advice. The personal touches like the homemade jelly made this place
the cornerstone of a great vacation -

Oklahoma City, OKa home in Cortez

We stayed at the Brunk Guest House in Cortez for 9 days, and were
reluctant to leave. The Brunk household consisted of two parents, two
children, two cats, and two dogs, and everyone was welcoming. We
especially enjoyed the cats, who stopped by the porch to listen to our
classical music. The guest house is just large enough for a couple, or
maybe a couple and a small child; there's a nice small kitchen, a
comfortable living room, a full bath and a queen-sized bed. The
hummingbird feeders were visited frequently by birds, the enclosed garden
area was full of flowers. From the guest house, we traveled easily to
Hovenweep, Mesa Verde (in fact, Wetherill Mesa, which is a part of Mesa
Verde park, is just 1.5 miles behind the house), Shiprock, Chaco Cultural
center, and the Ute Mountain Tribal Park and Casino, as well as the Anasazi
Heritage Center. Sleeping Ute Mountain is prominent to the west of the
guest house, and we enjoyed watching the light show on the mountain as
the sun rose and set. Becky Brunk was almost always available to answer
questions and she and her husband share their library about local sites. We
saw a coyote strolling across the yard, but didn't see the local bear. We
have stayed in many places across the US and Canada, but rate the Brunk
Guest House as far and away the best; we're already planning a return visit,
and if you plan to spend any time in the 4 corners area, the Guest House
should be your 'headquarters.' -

We stayed at this guesthouse for 4 nights and loved every minute. The house is very nicely decorated and is spotless. The bookcase is well stocked with tempting reading material for everyone. I wanted to stay 2 months just to go through the books. Nice selection of cookbooks too, which come in handy as the nice kitchen invites you to "eat in". Bathroom is spacious. Stacked washer/dryer unit in the bedroom closet was also a welcome convenience. Loved the setting and private courtyard, daily visits from the cats, being escorted by the dogs along the aqueduct trail behind the house. The owners house is next door, visible from the courtyard, but the guesthouse felt very private. The hosts were wonderful and available if needed for anything. As comforting as the guesthouse is, don't miss out exploring the area. There is an endless list of things to see and do. We especially enjoyed Mesa Verde and Durango. The highway noise can be heard from the guesthouse and is the only negative I can thing of; however, you do not notice the noise from inside the house. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. I wouldn't even consider looking elsewhere.
