Karen's review of Cortonese - La Fragola
Breathtaking views from our apartment/villa! The property is absolutely Beautiful! The online info needs better photos. The photos I saw do not capture the beauty of the property. The property has beautiful gardens with lavender and rosemary bushes everywhere, an olive grove, lemon trees and small apple orchard. The best pool in Tuscany with a view of Cortona above. It is a little bit of heaven!
The staff at the Hotel on the property were incredibly kind and helpful. The restaurant was fabulous! Everyone was totally accommodating. There is also a small breakfast restaurant at the hotel with an outside patio which you can reserve breakfast for 8 euros per person until 10:00am daily.
The view of Cortona and the Tuscan hills all around.
Jon's review of Cortonese - La Fragola
Overall experience was good. Enjoyed picking fresh cherries from the cherry tree and swimming in the pool with the kids.
We enjoyed the pool the most. Large enough to not feel crowded or on top of other guest. Water temperature was perfect and changing facilities were clean and no need to ask for fresh towels. Liked that we could do laundry on the premises free!.
Mosquitoes! Nightly noise from barking dogs and street traffic made it hard to fall and stay asleep. View out west side of apartment windows overlooked unkempt maintenance yard. Liked that there were bikes available to ride but they were not maintained.
Enjoyed day and evening trips up to old Cortona and down to the lake.
Paul's review of Cortonese - La Fragola
We had a memorable stay which we will cherish always.
Property was spacious and gorgeous. Exceeded our expectations in all regards
Kitchen needs better cooking tools and fry pans. Otherwise fine.
Cortona a delightful small city with many sights and great restaurants. Most of the tourists are Italian.
Jeffrey's review of Cortonese - La Fragola
We would rent here again.
The grounds, gardens, pool were fabulous. The apartment was very clean.
Lack of air conditioning, lack of screens on the windows, oddly small bathrooms given the generous size of the other rooms, lack of an outdoor grill. Shutters could be secured, but not the windows, which had a tendency to bang around in a breeze.
Susie's review of Cortonese - La Fragola
We absolutely loved La Fragola. It was everything you told us it would be and more. Our accommodations were beautiful, spacious, quiet, and comfortable. The restaurant was cozy and all the food we had was delicious, and of course the wine was divine. The service at the whole facility was remarkable. We truly felt at home. The property has some renovations being done on it but this did not deter from our experience. They are updating a building and gardens that will be used for wedding receptions and musical concerts. I can hardly wait to go back and see the finished product. I will not hesitate to use Rentvillas.com again to book another vacation. Y'all made it so easy for us - you were organized, well informed, and could be reached at any time. And all the information you gave us to help prepare for the trip was very useful. Thank you, thank you, thank you for helping us plan this trip and making it so memorable.
We had the privilege of meeting the owner of the property while we were there, and he was kind enough to give us quite a bit of history about the property and the surrounding areas. The property has belonged to his family for over a century. There is a gorgeous chapel on the grounds, and one of the employees opened it up for us so we could look and take pictures. I've never seen a private chapel like that anywhere - definitely one of a kind. The pool is in excellent condition but it was still a bit too cool for us to swim. Besides, we never really had the time. There are lounges and umbrellas all around the pool and they provide towels as well. During the summer they also have outdoor musical concerts every Monday night.
The location was very convenient. It was about a 5 minute drive into Cortona and about a 10 minute drive to the train station in Camucia. We drove into Florence - about an hour away - and took the train the next time because it was much easier than driving. We drove to Assisi and Perugia for day trips as well. All easy to find and well worth the short drive.
Maryalison's review of Cortonese - La Fragola
We loved our stay! Not only did we feel like we had the run of the place, but it was peaceful and quiet and beautiful. My husband and I both felt that this property offered a true taste of La Dolce Vita. We highly recommend it.
The property far exceeded our expectations. The grounds were extensive, beautifully landscaped and cared for. Our apartment was typically Tuscan in its tasteful and authentic renovation. I loved the huge windows and big green shutters that we closed each night. There was a huge swimming pool that was sunk elegantly down into the ground so when you were swimming you were level with the lawn and the view. The front desk staff was exceptional. They were professional, friendly, helpful and full of suggestions on places to visit. Someone there actually helped me sort out a parking ticket I got in Siena which I could not have done myself. They also spoke fluent English and Italian which was a lifesaver.
Occasionally the town of Camucia has music festivals at an arena in the area and we could hear the music from the property, but it only lasted 2 evenings.
Not only was it beautifully Tuscan, we were perfectly situated for an easy drive to Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, Perugia and nearby Cortona.
Nancy's review of Cortonese - La Fragola
The property was absolutely perfect! It was easy to get to the apartment. The apartment was clean, warm, comfortable with a fantastic view of the valley and hills. The owners and staff were absolutely wonderful. The owners are wonderful hosts! I became ill with a serious bacterial infection and the owners found a doctor for me immediatley and accompanied me to translate for me at the doctor's office. We could not have asked for a better place to stay or finer hosts. Having a washer and dryer on property was so great. We were able to get our clothes clean for the rest of our trip.
Nothing! The property was wonderful.
We enjoyed being central to Umbria and Southern Tuscany. We rode the train to Florence but drove to the Chianti country, Assissi, Perugia, Deruta, and Orvieto.
