      Wonderful Stay

Left on 10/21/2012 for a stay in October 2012

My wife and I recently stayed 7 nights at this lovely property. Located on a side street, just below numerous shops. You can take the street or stairs up to the Main Street, just a couple of minutes away. The property itself has four levels. The kitchen and patio are on the second level. There is a great patio with a nice view of the valley below. The bed on level three was very comfortable. You really feel a part of the town of Cortona by staying in this property. Parking was a 5-10 minute walk away, generally uphill to the property and downhill going to the car. Morning coffee and evening wine on the patio can not be beat. Certainly plan to return someday...hopefully soon.

A great break from hotels--while biking through Tuscany

Left on 10/07/2012 for a stay in September 2012

My husband and I recently spent 8 days cycling through Tuscany and staying 1-2 nights in various towns. For Cortona, we told our tour company that we would be arranging our own lodging as we wanted to take a break from staying in hotels, eating out, etc. This was the perfect place for our 3 night stop in Cortona (yes, we still biked each day and climbed the switchbacks into Cortona 3 days in a row!). The location is ideal--just a "block" off the main street but also very quite. We enjoyed dinners on the terrace and sipped our coffee out there in the morning. We especially appreciated the property manager's availability for coordination of our luggage which was transferred by our bike tour company--it was dropped off and picked up from her office which is a short walk from the house. Staying at Casa del artiste was definitely a highlight of our trip.

Great location in a friendly Tuscan hilltown

Left on 07/18/2012 for a stay in June 2012

My husband and I stayed for 2 weeks in Casa del artiste and found it a very comfortable apartment located just off Cortona's main street and with jaw dropping views. The apartment is beautifully renovated and the kitchen well stocked for those evenings when you don't feel like wandering the short distance to the myriad of choices for restaurants and bars. Sitting on the terrace looking out across the valley was superb and we found Cortona to be just the right size - plenty of activity without huge crowds, all the locals friendly and a real buzz of activity in the town square - be it weddings, markets or the local band playing. Cortona is also well located for trips to the other Tuscan villages and we found it easy to park in the large car parks just outside the town gates.

Home away from Home in a Magical Place

Left on 07/08/2012 for a stay in June 2012

Where we visited and the lodging we stayed in during our Italian exploration of Tuscany was very important to us. We hit the jackpot when we chose Cortona and anne’s house as our home base. The house is a marvel starting with the ground floor with its Etruscan stone wall and going up to the wonderfully supplied Tuscan kitchen which we cooked in everyday. The terrace adjoining the kitchen allows al fresco dining with a stunning view over Tuscan fields and hilltop towns in the far distance. Going upstairs is a lovely master bedroom suite with a very comfortable queen bed and ample closet and drawer space. On the fourth level is a comfortable living room with television, music system, reading areas, capped off with a loft with two extra beds. A few steps up the street from the front door is the main street where there are shops leading to the two main piazzas of Cortona. You will fine art galleries, good restaurants, fresh fruit and produce markets and most importantly La Dolce Vita, the gelato shop—a place we visited multiple times. The house manager, Laura, was very helpful. She clearly explained how things worked in the house and shared its history. Fascinating! We know the best compliment we can give is that we’re already planning our next visit. Thank you, Anne, for sharing your lovely home.

Unbelievably the highlight of our trip, could have sat on the te

Left on 06/29/2011 for a stay in September 2010

From the minute we arrived in this gorgeous town our adventure started. Laura was wonderful and helped us get settled in and assisted in every way possible. The house is amazing, so good we stayed home and cooked and imagined the wonderful life this house brings with it. We left our cases on the ground floor instead of lugging up the 3 flights of stairs and it was no problem. We got lost looking for Bremasola and walked to the top of the mountain, to find it was much shorter on the other side back to our gorgeous Casa Del artiste. With wine and cheese on the terrace till dark - sheer heaven.
. The owner was also so helpful with our dates to accommodate us, and the black cat would sit at the window at night and look in. Will definitely stay there again and again.

      Absolutely wonderful!

Left on 12/11/2010 for a stay in November 2010

My husband and I stayed at Casa del artiste in Cortona and absolutely loved it! We would do it again in a heartbeat. This place is amazing! It is filled with rustic charm and also has all the modern amenities. The bed is super comfortable, the patio has a breathtaking view, and the kitchen is up to date and fun to cook in. Cortona is such an amazing town that we were just as happy staying there as doing day trips to Florence or anywhere in Tuscany. I did not want to leave! Highly recommended!!

      Best view in Cortona!

Left on 11/14/2010 for a stay in June 2010

We stayed at Casa del artiste in June of 2010 during a trip to Cortona. The apartment is incredibly beautiful with amazing furiture, a perfect layout, and every amenity we needed. Our favorite part of the apartment was the large terrace that overlooked the entire valley and lake! We spent hours laying in the afternoon sun, drinking wine wine watching the swallows and laughing at the kittens playing on roof under us! The location of the apartment is right off the main pedestrian street in Cortona which made it so easy to walk out for coffee, dinner or a quick trip to the grocery. We would love to return to Casa del artiste again and would highly recommend it to friends!

Fell in love with this house and the views

Left on 06/25/2010 for a stay in May 2010

Upon arrival, we were welcomed graciously. This home in Cortona is absolutely beautiful. We felt as though we were residents of Cortona as we came and went from the home and enjoyed the short 2 minute walk to Via Nazionale for shopping and eating. We found ourselves staying in town exploring Cortona's off the beat streets and alleys, historical sites, museum, plaza, restaurants and shopping. We visited other hilltop towns but were always happy to come back at the end of the day. The free parking down the hill was convenient, but often times we found evening parking closer to the house.

The weather was perfect during our stay so no need to put on the fireplace. The open windows allowed perfect circulation during the evening. There was always hot water for our showers. The washing machine came in handy. Although I did not cook or take advantage of the the kitchen ammenities, rest assured you will not be lacking for glasses, plates, wine corkscrew, etc. Dishwasher was also very convenient.

The views are spectacular. We spent a fair amount of time on the terrace in the evening drinking local wine and looking at the amazing views of the valley.

We fell in love with Cortona, the people, the food, the wine, and this special little house! Tuscany at its best. We can't wait to return.

      Our Dream Visit to Tuscany

Left on 10/30/2009 for a stay in September 2009

My husband & I chose September to visit Europe & complete some of our "bucket list". We had the wonderful opportunity to stay in a lovely home in Cortona for 12 days, from Sept. 17 - 29. Cortona is one of the famed medieval hill towns of Tuscany & is very well-located if you want to visit other towns in the area by bus/train/rented car. Cortona is quaint & very walkable, yet modern & is very proud of its Etruscan history. The charming home we stayed in is a beautifully remodeled small house, much like a townhouse with four levels. Efforts were made to maintain & preserve parts of the Old World with modern Italian amenities such as a fully-stocked kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, gas stove, refrigerator & washing machine. There is also a stone fireplace/grill in the kitchen. Off the kitchen is a lovely terrace & garden with a great view of the valley. The master bedroom is comfortable, & the sitting room one floor up is equipped with a TV & several DVDs. We felt very comfortable & safe in this little home. Also, the agent who manages the home is a God-send. She speaks near-perfect English, & she will book tickets for anything you want to do, from bus/train tickets to tickets for the museums in Florence. Only one thing bothered us during our 12 days there, & that was the nearby noisy partgoers who partied until the wee hours while we were trying to sleep. But, that could happen anywhere. We really had a wonderful time in Cortona, & we highly recommend Casa del'Artiste.

      Hilltop Cortona Apartment

Left on 10/29/2009 for a stay in October 2009

We loved our weeks stay in Cortona and in this apartment. This town and this apartment are not for anyone who can not manage stairs or steep climbs. The apartment is on four levels, the first one is the entry way, the second is the kitchen, second bath and patio, the third is the bedroom and the master bath and the fourth is the living area which contains the TV, DVD and couch. The apartment contained everything we could ask for. The kitchen was wonderful and very rustic looking but contained all the modern appliances and utensils needed to cook if you wanted. Bathrooms were also modern with a rustic look and feel. They also supplied a hair dryer and electric adapter for your appliances. Queen bed was comfortable. Now to the view. Every day we would come home from visiting other hill towns around Tuscany and sit on our patio admiring the view. It was stupendous! Overlooking the valley below. In order to get this wonderful view, you must sacrifice something! The climb up to the apartment from the parking lot below was quite strenuous for 60 year olds who are out of shape. In fact, just visiting all those hill towns took a toll on our legs. The great part was the location of the apartment. Just 1 block (up hill) from the main street in the town which is the only flat street. We loved the town of Cortona. Fairly small, but with quite a few great restaurants and cafes. Nothing too far away, just up hill! Loved walking around in the late afternoon with everyone else and sitting in the main piazza until 8:00. What a wonderful sense of community they have. Shopping was good also and I could kick myself for not purchasing things there and waiting for the Florence part of our trip. Everything was more expensive in Florence & Rome. Will definitly come back to Cortona and our wonderful apartment. Miss it already!

      Casa Dell Artiste - Delightful

Left on 07/19/2009 for a stay in September 2008

I stayed at the house for a week last September. It was delightful. The house had everything that I needed and being so close to the town centre of Cortona what the town has to offer the visiter is right on your doorstop. Tuscany is a wonderful area to holiday in. I and my friends visited some fabulous places from the city and galleries of Florance to the north to the quiet beauty of Assisi to the south. Highly recommended.

      A Piece of Heaven, Tuscany-Style

Left on 07/07/2009 for a stay in September 2008

Casa del Artiste was everything I imagined it would be and more. The cozy home has been modernized, but the charming antiquity was carefully preserved in the floor tiles, ceiling beams, and stone in the bathrooms. One of the best parts of the house is the sunny terrace which overlooks the 15th century Sta. Maria delle Grazie Calcinaio church. The view is picture perfect! The house is conveniently located down the block from the main street Via Nazionale; it's a perfect location from which to meander the streets, just like a local.
Everything about Casa del Artiste and Cortona is just magical; you'll definitely want to return!!
